About This Listing
Amazing studio with private entrance and private half bath in the hippest neighborhood in San Francisco. Steps to the best bars, restaurants, and specialty shops but secluded in a quiet off street location!
This unit is truly a unique space in the heart of the Mission District. It is approximately 600 square feet with your own half bathroom and separate entrance. It has a sitting area with large couch and Queen size bed and fridge. You have access to a shower upstairs as well as on-site laundry. This unit would be perfect for someone moving to San Francisco and living here while looking for a more permanent living situation as it has plenty of room for extra storage. All furnishings have a very modern look in this modern studio space that includes polished concrete heated floors and pocket doors.
It's located in the hottest part of the 16th and Mission area just off of 16th and Valencia near dozens of restaurants, bars, and shopping within just a block or two. Also, the Bart station and major bus lines are just two blocks away. You'll have a hard time deciding on a cuisine in this neighborhood because there are so many options to choose from. Surprisingly, the unit is extremely quiet because it's located just off of 16th on a side street even though 16th is a very bustling area. You won't be disappointed with this location and room! Walking distance to the Castro and Hayes Valley.
Shower is upstairs outside of the unit and shared with the two of us (Rachael and Katie). You get your own key to our unit and can come up anytime to use it. We shower very quickly so we never run into bathroom lines. You do have your own private half bath in the studio to get ready in so it's very easy.
Thanks for looking at this listing!
The only shared space is the upstairs shower but you have your own key to use it whenever is convenient for you! You have your own private half bath in the studio and private entrance.
Interaction with Guests
It's really up to the you how much you want to interact with us because you have all of your own space. I love having a glass of wine with my guests though and helping plan what to do in SF!
The best neighborhood in SF for foodies!
16th & Mission is probably the hub of most public transit in all of SF. There are numerous busses that pick up from that area that go all over the city and of course BART. This intersection is 2.5 blocks from the studio.
It helps us immensely if you pile all used linens and strip the bed when you check out.
Please be respectful of our neighbors and keep noise outside to a minimum after 10PM.
I stayed at Katie for 5 days, all went well.
The location was incredible, the apartment clean and tidy like the photos. Bed is comfy, internet is fast. All I needed!
Great apartment in a fun location. Katie sent me all the info I needed and was super friendly through the whole stay. I'll definitely stay again next time I'm in town!
A wonderful space and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Very centrally located.
Katie is indeed a Super Host.
The property is an oasis within one of the hottest parts of San Francisco -- the combined Valencia corridor and Mission/Dolores area.
The Studio: The studio is the lower floor of a separate structure located behind a traditional Victorian house. The studio is modern and comfortable. It's more finished than the pictures show (as of April '15). The windows open onto neighbors’ backyards, which are quiet. I didn’t hear anything but birds and the murmur of ambient city sounds. You'll occasionally hear Katie and her roommate in the flat above. The building is well insulated with respect to sound. (Context: I prefer the ambient city and building sounds to the silence one might encounter in a hotel.)
Food: There are many good restaurants at all price points to choose from -- Four Barrel Coffee (the best coffee and espresso in SF), Samovar Tea (if you prefer tea), Mission Beach Cafe (great for lunch and brunch), Locanda and Delfina (excellent fun Italian restaurants), Namu Gaji (Korean home-style cooking), Zuni Cafe on Market St. (the essential SF restaurant for brunch, lunch and dinner) and dozens more are nearby.
You don't need to rely solely on restaurants for food. Whole Foods (Dolores & Market) and BiRite (18th) are nearby. The studio has a mini fridge and microwave, but not a stove.
Fun: On sunny weekends, Dolores Park, resembles an outdoor festival. It’s a couple blocks away and where people gather to hang out, chill out and people watch.
For entertainment: Brick & Mortar, the Chapel SF and the Make Out Room are all nearby, as are other venues. The SF Jazz Center is in nearby Hayes Valley.
Shopping: If you’re a guy, check out Taylor Stitch (off-the-rack and custom made, American made shirts and pants).
Interesting shops on Valencia: Dijitfix sells DJ equipment, retro audio equipment and accessories. Mission Workshop sells the best bike commuting clothing. DSPTCH sells the best (unbranded) work backpacks and travel luggage. Voyager, Aggregate Supply, Gravel & Gold and Acacia sell a mix of Made in California and Made in the US clothing, gifts and home furnishings. BetaBrand sells limited-run, Made in the US party clothes. Paxton Gate Kids sells off-beat children's games and toys.
Street Art: Check out the street art on Valencia and along the alleys linked to it.
Work & Transportation: The location works well for people who need to do business in SF. The 16th Street BART station will take you downtown and you can walk from there.
Car ride-sharing services will get you to anywhere not on the main public transportation lines.
San Francisco is a walkable city. From the studio, I walk to all of the places above.
Cars & Parking: You’ll have more fun if you aren’t encumbered by a car. That said, I’m an SF resident, have a car and was always able to find parking nearby. Parking requires keeping track of and working around the street parking restrictions.
We stayed in Katie's studio for 2 nights in March 2015. It was a great experience, the studio is very spacious and cool and comfortable and the location is perfect, very central in the lovely Mission area yet on a quiet street. Katie was super friendly and very helpful. We would reccommend this place to anyone and would definitely stay again!
Exactly as described. The studio is lovely and the neighborhood is awesome. Katie gave a really excellent guide including restaurant recommendations and came to see us to make sure we had everything we needed. Couldn't recommend more highly!

About the Host, Katie
Hi there! I'm Katie and along with my roommate, Rachael, live in the coolest part of San Francisco (but...we're probably biased). I moved to SF almost 3 years ago from Denver and do NOT miss the snow. I love music, wine, and cheese (in that order). Rachael and Motown (our adorable old man dog) moved to SF from NYC and she works at GoPro in San Mateo. We're both outgoing 30-something professionals and conversation over wine is one of our favorite activities so please join us!
