About This Listing
Fabulous 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home with lots of kids gear for families wishing to enjoy the Tahoe/ Donner area in summer or winter. Equipped with a Nest (thermostat) to keep you warm and August locks to keep you safe, our guests feel at home here!
You’ll love this family-friendly mountain home located in beautiful Tahoe Donner. We've stocked it with essentials (including kids toys, 2 pack-and-play cribs and various safety features) so that you can relax and enjoy everything Tahoe has to offer. Adults love this setting too, and find the open kitchen to great for cooking and enjoying some down time! Be sure to breathe in some fresh air while sitting in the rocking chairs on the wraparound, covered front porch. Loaded with charm and comfort inside and out, this lovely home sits near the edge of a cul-de-sac, tucked behind tall trees. The photos don't quite do justice to the soaring pine ceilings, pine cabinetry, modern furnishings, 3 decks and large loft area offered by this immaculate home in the woods. The Tahoe/ Truckee area offers ample hiking, skiing, snow showing, boating, mountain biking and more. You won't be disappointed!
Inside the home, you'll find 3 nicely equipped bedrooms, 3 full baths and a full-size futon couch in the upstairs loft space. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds with brand new, high-quality bedding, and the third bedroom has 2 twin beds (both new) with comfortable bedding for kids or adults. We keep the bedroom closets empty for the maximum home-away-from-home feel. The downstairs bedroom has a private, en suite bath and offers extra privacy from the "kids" room(s) upstairs.
Note that our lock/home security system requires that guests have a smartphone (iPhone or Android) and we will work with you to get your phone numbers programmed in before arrival.
This home comes with access to a multitude of private Tahoe Donner amenities, which are available to guests for $8/person over 7 years of age. You won't be bored!
Tahoe Donner also has a wide range of public amenities that offer discounted fees for members and guests:
-Downhill skiing and snowboarding
-Cross Country skiing
-Snow Play Area
On the first level, there is a laundry area plus a 2-car garage, which fits cars up to midsize SUVs, e.g. a BMW X5 (make sure to fold your mirrors in!). Alternatively, there's plenty of private, off street parking space in the long driveway if you don't want to worry about getting in and out of the garage. In the winter season, the flat driveway eliminates ice hazards and inconvenience. We have a snow clearing service that will clear the driveway when snow exceeds 4" each day.
We hope that you'll enjoy our mountain home as much as we do! If you're looking for a place to party, this is not for you, but if you're looking to relax and maximize your enjoyment of the outdoors, you've found the RIGHT place!
Guests will have access to the home, including the laundry area and garage.
Interaction with Guests
I like to be accessible to my guests -- many of them I meet in person and for those who I don't meet in person, we usually interact quite a bit before your stay, and I like to check in to make sure everything is ok.

Nearby in Truckee, you'll find a wide variety of restaurants from fine dining to pizza or burger joints. There are plenty of supermarkets (like Safeway) and pharmacies in the town of Truckee, as well as some fun local shops. Tahoe Donner is located 30 minutes from Reno and about 3 hours from San Francisco. Donner Lake is about 10 minutes away and is popular for boaters and cyclists. For those coming to ski, it's about twenty minutes to Sugar Bowl, Alpine, Squaw Valley, and Northstar. The drive to north Lake Tahoe is less than 30 minutes and you're about 45 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe Airport.
It's best to have a car in the Tahoe area. During winter months, we recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle in case it snows!
Other Things to Note
** Don't forget, you need a Smartphone (iPhone or Android) and your Bluetooth needs to be turned on in order to access the house with the August locksmith. Please contact me if you have any questions about this prior to or during your stay. In case of emergency, we have a nearby neighbor.
This is not a party house, but rather a home for families to enjoy quality time together. Please read and respect our house rules below. **Note that our pricing includes a 10% Occupancy Tax, which we pay on our guests behalf. This is to reflect new regulations in the Tahoe Donner area.**
The home is well-equipped with various toddler and baby items, which you are welcome to use, including: 2 portable cribs, 2 booster seats, Adirondack chairs, infant bathtub, potty chair, towels, toys (indoor, outdoor and bath), silverware and dishware, sippy cups, , a table and chairs and more. The home has also been child proofed with 2 safety gates, as well as outlet covers throughout the house. We also offer laundry facilities (washer/dryer) downstairs in the garage.
We have a strict no pet policy; however, the owner's dog has stayed in the home in the past. Rest assured that the home has been thoroughly cleaned, but we just wanted to disclose this in case of any severe pet allergies.
Note that the home can sleep up to 8 people, but for everyone's comfort, and especially if the guests are adults, we recommend a group size of up to 6 guests, at least the majority of the time. The home is not handicap accessible, with steps up into the house, as well as up to the second floor.
Upon departure, we just ask that you take out the trash. Use the bear box outside of the house. Also please start a load of bath towels. The washing machine is in the garage downstairs. This makes for a more efficient cleaning process :-)
Everything is as advertised. Amanda is extremely thoughtful and organized. We look forward to going back.
Great host, super responsive and flexible. The house is just as pictured and described. Good value for the space, facilities and location. If you have young kids in your party it is ideal - tons of toys/books to keep them busy and practical items that save you dragging them with you (travel crib, booster seats, steps in bathroom, stroller). Highly recommended
We're from Georgia and were working in Reno at a very large event called Hot August Nights, which draws several hundred thousand attendees.
The city was crazy so we decided to stay about a half hour away in the Truckee area. We found Amanda's house on airbnb and with 3 baths it was perfect for our 3 people.
It was a pleasure coming "home" at night to the clean, crisp air after the daytime heat of Reno. The property was comfortable, clean and very peaceful. Fully equipped kitchen and washroom and comfortable beds in each bedroom made for a great place for us to re-energize each evening.
And the stars at night in the clear, cool air was a wonderful bonus. I highly recommend this property.

About the Host, Amanda
I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in London for 4 years, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When I'm not hard at work, (or traveling), I'll be somewhere outside, such as snow skiing, water skiing, road biking, or spending quality time with friends.
I've been a landlord for 10 years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats Starwood or Hilton Hotels ;)
Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, I've added to portfolio by working with close friends. We've found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Bay Area or Tahoe. All six properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with friendly hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
