We've stocked it with essentials (including kids toys, 2 pack-and-play cribs and various safety features) so that you can relax and enjoy everything Tahoe has to offer. Adults love this setting too, and find the open kitchen to great for cooking and enjoying some down time! Be sure to breathe in some fresh air while sitting in the rocking chairs on the wraparound, covered front porch. Loaded with charm and comfort inside and out, this lovely home sits near the edge of a cul-de-sac, tucked behind tall trees. The photos don't quite do justice to the soaring pine ceilings, pine cabinetry, modern furnishings, 3 decks and large loft area offered by this immaculate home in the woods. The Tahoe/ Truckee area offers ample hiking, skiing, snow showing, boating, mountain biking and more. You won't be disappointed!

Inside the home, you'll find 3 nicely equipped bedrooms, 3 full baths and a full-size futon couch in the upstairs loft space. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds with brand new, high-quality bedding, and the third bedroom has 2 twin beds (both new) with comfortable bedding for kids or adults. We keep the bedroom closets empty for the maximum home-away-from-home feel. The downstairs bedroom has a private, en suite bath and offers extra privacy from the "kids" room(s) upstairs.

This home comes with access to a multitude of private Tahoe Donner amenities, which are available to guests for $8/person over 7 years of age. You won't be bored! You may opt to try some of the restaurants at Tahoe Donner including Pizza on the Hill, The Lodge, or check out the snacks shops at Trout Creek, The Beach Club and the Tahoe Donner ski centers.

Nearby in Truckee, you'll find a wide variety of restaurants from fine dining to pizza or burger joints. There are plenty of supermarkets (like Safeway) and pharmacies in the town of Truckee, as well as some fun local shops. Tahoe Donner is located 30 minutes from Reno and about 3 hours from San Francisco. Donner Lake is about 10 minutes away and is popular for boaters and cyclists. For those coming to ski, it's about twenty minutes to Sugar Bowl, Alpine, Squaw Valley, and Northstar. The drive to north Lake Tahoe is less than 30 minutes and you're about 45 minutes from the Reno-Tahoe Airport.

On the first level, there is a laundry area plus a 2-car garage, which fits cars up to midsize SUVs, e.g. a BMW X5 (make sure to fold your mirrors in!). Alternatively, there's plenty of private, off street parking space in the long driveway if you don't want to worry about getting in and out of the garage. In the winter season, the flat driveway eliminates ice hazards and inconvenience. We have a snow clearing service that will clear the driveway when snow exceeds 4" each day.

We hope that you'll enjoy our mountain home as much as we do! If you're looking for a place to party, this is not for you, but if you're looking to relax and maximize your enjoyment of the outdoors, you've found the RIGHT place!

  • The house was the perfect place to stay in the Truckee area. Lots of space for a group of us, and we were able to use the well-stocked kitchen to make some yummy meals at home.
Amanda was a terrific host and was super attentive to any questions or needs we might have had. Even though she was out of the area during our stay, she was still always accessible. We will definitely keep this place in mind for future trips to the Tahoe area!
Thanks again, Amanda, for being so awesome :)

  • This is a fabulous home, close to Squaw, with all the comforts you could hope for plus a few extras. There were snacks and bottled water set out for us and the home was warm on arrival thanks to the Nest thermostat. Amanda was very flexible in arranging to meet to give us the key. We would love to return for another stay here this summer.

  • My family and friends had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in the Tahoe Donner area. The moment we arrived we noticed a nice basket of snacks to enjoy after the long drive from San Francisco. Once everyone arrived at the house we settled in and the house easily accommodated two families with a total of 4 children under age 4. It was so nice to not have to bring baby gear from home. We were pleasantly surprised to find 2 pack n' play, a toddler air bed, 2 portable high chairs, tons of toys, two awesome toddler sleds, and even hooded bath towels and baby wash! The three full size bathrooms were also a plus. Whenever the little ones had to use the potty there was always one nearby.

The location of the home was just perfect for a family with little kids. Within 10 minutes drive we could access the snow play area, downhill skiing, and cross country skiing.

We mostly ate at home but we did have lunch a local brewery called 5050. It was the perfect family friendly restaurant with good food, good craft beer, and plenty of ambient noise so the noisy kidlets could blend in.

Thanks Amanda for hosting us! We had a memorable stay. We would love to come back and stay again.

  • It's a wonderful cabin. My friend and I were happy to stay here. It's close to Northstar. So if you are looking for a place to stay during your skiing/snowboarding vacation, this is the cabin I recommend.

Amanda is a well communicated and kind owner. The complimentary bottle of wine is a big plus. Thank you Amanda :)

  • We loved the house! It was well stocked, beautifully decorated, and very clean. It was a very kid friendly house, with lots of toys and books for toddlers to older kids. We had simultaneous showers in 2 bathrooms, and water stayed hot the whole time.

What was even better than the house was the host Amanda! She was super responsive and friendly. Prior to our trip we had a special request, and she gladly accommodated. All the communication with her was so pleasant.

We went in the winter time, and would consider returning in spring or summer to the same house!

  • Amanda was a fantastic host. She went out of her way to give me the keys for the place before our visit in San Francisco and made quite a few good suggestions about activities for us while we were up there.

The place itself was spotless and there was a very welcome pack of water, some snacks and a nice bottle of wine when we arrived which was a great touch. I would definitely stay here again. Recommended.

  • The home was VERY well stocked. It has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Most of the time we were out, but when we were inside, the kitchen had all the utensils, plates, bowls, pans, pots, etc... There were some scarfs, flashlights, and other useful items I saw in the closets and draws for people that forget to bring them. The air was kind of dry at Tahoe, so some of my friends got dry/sore throats. And guess what we found in a cabinet? Cough drops! Unexpected awesome surprise that made the stay so much better.

Location wise, it was easy to get to. A short drive from North Star and Sugarbowl, the two resorts we went to during our stay. Very close to a Safeway for any last minute needs.

  • We had a great time in Tahoe, thanks to Amanda and Debbie for being such amazing hosts. Amanda was super responsive to our questions and needs. Debbie's home was spacious, in a great location, and filled with little things that makes it a perfect fit for families. We absolutely recommend this home and will keep it in our favorites for the next time we go to Tahoe.

I work in tech and am fortunate to have lived in London for 4 years, back when mobile technologies were first taking off. I've traveled extensively, and have grown to appreciate a good host! When I'm not hard at work, (or traveling), I'm usually found engaging in outdoor adventures, such as snow skiing, water skiing, road biking, or spending quality time with friends. I've been a landlord for 8 years, and I am regularly hosting out-of-town guests, especially international visitors. I firmly believe that staying in someone's home in a nice neighborhood beats Starwood or Hilton Hotels ;) Because I enjoyed the Airbnb experience so much, in addition to renting my home in Menlo Park, I'm also managing my good friend Victoria's and her neighbor's guest houses in San Jose and my friend Debbie's house in Tahoe. We all used to work for the same company and have found that by working together, we can provide the best experience for our guests! Same quality, efficiency, communication process, etc. plus we've already learned all of the tips/conveniences and can apply it to multiple properties. We look forward to welcoming you to the Bay Area or Tahoe. All five properties are well-located, quiet, charming and family-friendly with friendly hostesses and a personal touch to make your stay a pleasant one!
