Located along Guatemala's pacific coast in the surfing village of El Paredon, Casa Hibisco is a beachfront family vacation home where modern architecture meets local craftsmanship. Custom-built with locally sourced materials by regional artisans, each element carefully chosen to age gracefully in harmony with the environment. Casa Hibisco is luxurious but wild. It's a modern sanctuary that honors ancient wisdom. Casa Hibisco welcomes those seeking all things slow, stylish and creative.

The space
Enter the home through a tropical garden and be welcomed by its open-plan central pavilion featuring a 17-meter palm leaf roof —a contemporary interpretation of traditional palapa architecture that keeps the space naturally cool by providing shade and allowing heat to escape upward. The open living area flows into a dramatic infinity pool that appears to reach toward the waves. As the sun sets, the pool becomes a mirror, reflecting every hue of the sky.

To your right, you'll find the fully equipped kitchen featuring granite countertops, a large island, pantry and a bar area. The dining space can comfortably seat all guests. The enclosed family living room has a large built-in sofa, kids' play table and a private pergola with a hammock, perfect for watching the surfers catch some waves.

The home features three bedrooms with air conditioning, large built-in closets, dedicated workspace, king size beds, premium linens and cotton mosquito nets. Each offer distinct relationships with the landscape:

Horizonte Room — A master bedroom with panoramic views. Wake up and sip a cup of coffee on your rooftop terrace. Bathroom en suite with tub. King-size bed and a daybed.

Sea Room — Open your door and say hi to the Pacific ocean. Sway in the hammock on the private deck as you ease into vacation mode. King-size bed and bunk beds.

Areca Room — Garden master suite featuring a semi-outdoor bathroom where daily rituals become sensory experiences beneath the open sky. King-size bed.

All four bathrooms are stocked with towels and a selection of artisanal hair & body care products, crafted locally with botanical essential oils.

As part of the home's unique coastal architecture, during tropical storms this open design naturally allows water into common areas (living, dining and pool area). Water may also enter under sliding doors despite our protective sandbags. Guests who embrace tropical living will love the experience, while those preferring fully weatherproof spaces should consider other properties.

Casa Hibisco includes staff on-site daily (until 6pm) to provide discreet housekeeping, kitchen support and maintain common areas clean while you relax. Food is not provided but our staff can grocery shop for you for a fee or contact the local fishermen to help you get the catch of the day. El Paredon also offers a variety of great restaurants, bars and culinary options within easy reach. We're also happy to help you arrange massage services or local activities upon request to create your ideal getaway.

Heaven is a place on earth. Casa Hibisco is built from what surrounds it: volcanic Morlon stone beneath your feet, hand-applied Chukum (a Mayan stucco technique using tree resin) create a tactile, breathing surface that naturally regulates humidity, and locally harvested teak that will patina beautifully with salt air and stories. Each object has purpose and provenance: hand pigmented cement tiles with subtle geometric patterns, ceramic lighting fixtures and art installations showcase the craftsmanship of regional artisans.
