You can be very private, or we will happily chat with you by the outdoor fire over a glass of wine. We are East Coasters who have lived in the Bay Area for 30 years and can tell you about what Northern California has to offer--indoors and out--including our favorite restaurants/galleries/music, both in Palo Alto and San Francisco (where we lived for 16 years). If you are up early in the morning, share a cup of coffee and breakfast. We live in the house full-time (2 sons have gone off to college, 1 son still at home) but it is big enough for us all to have privacy.

Our stay at Julia's airbnb room was great. Julie and Dave are a busy, laid-back couple with one son still at home. Julie was kind enough to accommodate my daughter and I while apartment hunting. Julie was flexible with our changing schedule and allowed us to amend our reservation. A big help!
This is a lovely home with creative art to enjoy on every wall. We loved having use of the incredible kitchen for breakfast with the sun streaming in most mornings.
Julia and the fam are wonderful and kind. Their home is comfortable, clean and my entire experience has been all positive. They are located in Midtown Palo Alto and within walking distance to just about any and all provisions. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. One must like dogs and I do. I will miss those guys.
Being a 4th year medical student, I had a one month externship at the Palo Alto VA Hospital and stayed with the Nelson-Gal family in their beautiful home for the entire 4 weeks. Dave and Julia were exceptionally warm and welcoming, always making me feel at home. If that wasn't enough, their three sons were extremely sweet and friendly. They always made it a point to offer delicious coffee, great wine, yummy food and good conversation. Julia is an amazing artist, displaying many of her beautiful pieces in her home. I felt I was more than just a guest in their home, as Julia and I went to a movie together, we watched our favorite shows together, and she even took me to her art studio. With so much to do in this adorable neighborhood, as well as the warm, cozy atmosphere at the Nelson-Gal house, I can highly recommend staying in their home whether you're in town for vacation, business, school, or internship!
Awesome stay in Palo Alto thanks to the gracious hospitality of Julia and Dave. From the moment we arrived we felt at home. Lovely people, beautiful house, adorable family and dogs. We whole heartedly recommend staying here when visiting Palo Alto !
