Description

The Space

ABOUT OUR SPACE: Just inside our front door is an art-filled foyer with access to your entrance to a private bedroom, bath and hall closet. Share our family room (TV, Cable, Apple TV, game systems, etc), make a meal in the kitchen, or enjoy the outdoor BBQ. We are a friendly, busy family that enjoys company. Hopefully you love dogs, because our Pug and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel will want to love you!

GUEST ACCESS/ SERVICES: You have full access to one wing of the house as well as the yard.

You can be very private, or we will happily chat with you by the outdoor fire over a glass of wine. We are East Coasters who have lived in the Bay Area for 30 years and can tell you about what Northern California has to offer--indoors and out--including our favorite restaurants/galleries/music, both in Palo Alto and San Francisco (where we lived for 16 years). If you are up early in the morning, share a cup of coffee and breakfast. We live in the house full-time (2 sons have gone off to college, 1 son still at home) but it is big enough for us all to have privacy.

NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW; We are centrally located in Palo Alto in the heart of Silicon Valley. Easy 2-5 block walk to Phil's Coffee, Starbucks, the grocery, ice cream store, shoe repair shop, Thai food, etc. Walk or bike 1.5 miles to California Avenue CalTrain station, lots more stores, Fed-X, restaurants, bars, grocery, coffee, and a big farmer's market every Sunday. 2 miles to Stanford or Town and Country Village, where our favorite Mayfield Bakery and Cafe is located. 2.5 miles gets you downtown, with all Palo Alto has to offer.

GETTING AROUND: Palo Alto transportation is diverse, Free shuttles, Stanford Marguerite Bus Lines, two Caltrain stations to SF plus easy biking and walking. Check the City of Palo Alto's transportation website and download Stanford's Bus Route app. Easy bike ride to some of the area's major employers. Forty minute train ride to SF.

SOME MORE DETAILS: This is a smallish bedroom, though it does fit a double bed, desk, dresser and chair. You are welcome to enjoy other rooms in the house. The closet is located in the hallway outside your room. Your bathroom has a shower without a tub, and the laundry (which we use when it is convenient for you) is in your bathroom.

LONGER STAYS: Guests choosing longer stays may receive additional discounts. Guests staying over 2 weeks, a $40 cleaning fee will be charged every two weeks and includes professional cleaners and a change of your sheets and towels. After the first fee paid through Airbnb, the subsequent payments are made directly to us.

Guest Access

GUEST ACCESS/ SERVICES: You have full access to our downstairs, which has two TV areas, a library and large kitchen. You are also welcome to use the BBQ outside.
