About this listing
A comfortable room that is light and spacious, with wifi, premium cable, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot in room for our guests. Towels, clean sheets, of course. Check-in runs from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM..
We have a large, bright, well-appointed bedroom with two large windows available in a private house. I have tried to make this room the kind of place I would like to find if I were the traveller. There is a large desk, 3 chairs, a mini-fridge, microwave, cable tv with premium channels Starz, HBO, SHO, MAX, etc. and of course, a nice queen-sized bed with freshly laundered linens, and clean bedding. For your comfort there are four bed pillows and bedside lamps on each side of the bed. The room is very clean, there is a bureau and closet. We leave out towels, with more available in the linen closet right next to your room. The bathroom is nice, bright and clean, it is in the hall, and is mainly shared with one household member. (See pix).
Guests will also enjoy the truly spectacular view from our dining room and living room windows. It is incredible, God's own handiwork, and guests are very welcome to share it with us.
Is there WiFi? Yes, there is. There is a strong network within the house, and you are provided the password upon check-in.
We are located a few doors away from MacLaren Park, the second-largest park in SF, after Golden Gate Park. We are also close to the popular Mission District/Valencia St. area.
If you have a car, you will really love our parking situation. We have no restrictions on parking, this is not common for many areas of the city. You can park all day without worrying. Besides our normal street parking, there is additional parking along the front of the park at our corner. You rarely have any problems parking around here.
We have dogs-they are good, they won't bother anyone, they aren't noisy, they are friendly (see pix).
If you need to print something out, we can arrange it.
There is MUNI (local bus agency) bus #54 at our corner, half a block away. From there you can go to the BART(the train agency) metro system, or transfer to a bus to go downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. There are several ways you can get downtown via MUNI bus and BART train. Both MUNI and BART have good maps, routes, and schedules on their sites.
You can get to our house from the airport via BART train ( there will be signs at the airport for it) to Balboa Park station, walk out of the station, cross the street (Geneva Street) and take the #54 Felton bus. There is a stop at our corner (you will know the name of the street upon confirmation, and that is the same name as the stop) From there, you walk half a block to the house.
Or, you can take Super Shuttle service to the door. A recent guest told me the fare was $17. From airport to the door. A taxi is around $35., I think.
The house is in a residential, very safe, nice neighborhood. We have lived here since my daughter was very small, and it has always been a safe and mellow place.
Check out is 11:00 A.M. and check in is 2:00 p.m. Until 10:00 p.m. and it is important to let me know your approximate arrival time in advance so I can make arrangements for someone to be here with your key.
I prefer to communicate by text.
Hope to see you soon!
Wifi, premium channel cable TV, mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, snacks in room.
Interaction with Guests
I greet guests personally and chat with them as it is natural to do. I am not intrusive, and give guests their privacy. I enjoy the chats, though.
This is a residential neighborhood, and as such it is safe and quiet at night. Mission Street and nightlife is easily accessible. There is a large park a few doors away, perfect for a morning walk or jog.
Yes, there is a good bus at the corner (#54) that takes you either to BART trains in one direction, or to connecting busses for downtown in the other direction.
Other Things to Note
Parking here is very good. There are no restrictions on time, and it is easy to find a space. This is uncommon inside the city limits.
Common courtesy, common sense. Check-in is from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We are pretty chill. I don't Ike to put a lot of rules, they come out sounding mean. I want people to be comfortable, I hope they enjoy their stay and leave me a nice review.10:00 pm
Kate was a great host.
We enjoyed the stay in her flat.
You have got there a wonderful view over the city.
The room was good and the bed very comfortable.
Thanks Kate and family.
Kate welcomed me warmly and tried to provide most comfortable environment while I was staying there. This place is located in the south from downtown but its not really far so I could take bus to pier 39 and union square.
Kate and family were wonderfully hospitable, and have a very lovely place. Once you figure out transit it's pretty easy to get around as well. Overall I can't say enough good things about the experience.
Kate was an absolutely charming and sociable host. She was very receptive to our needs, was willing to help us check in whenever it was most convenient for us, and she made us that we felt at home at her place. Her house did smell like smoke, and her kitchen didn’t have the best pots and pans, so if you have smoke allergies or plan on doing heavy duty cooking, this might not be the best apartment for you. However, Kate made sure that our room was odor-free upon arrival. Additionally, there were five people in the house, along with three large dogs, but it never felt cramped, and we had our own private room. Finally, the location is a bit out of the way (it's in Exelsior), so you will be relying on Lyft and Uber to get into the city fast. She also had plenty of brochures and suggestions about tourist attractions in San Francisco, so you can definitely use her resources to your advantage!
Kate and her family were lovely hosts and made our stay very enjoyable. We very much enjoyed our time spent here and in San Francisco! Would highly recommend staying here!
It's an affable family of lovely people, three cute dogs and a quiet neighborhood. The room is exactly the way it's shown in the picture. They don't have an AC because they don't need one since the room is naturally on the cooler side because of its elevated location. They also give you complete privacy. I opted for Kate's place because I did not want to live in an expensive hotel or go for a cheap hotel with shared bathroom and ghetto neighborhood. It's an ideal place for a halt given that it's a 15 min drive from her place to SFO airport.
About the Host, Kate
I am a nice, friendly individual. I am a wife and also mother to one daughter and three dogs. I like to read, watch TV and movies, pretty normal. We have a cheerful household.
I am grateful to each and every guest for chosing to stay here at "Kate's Place". I want everyone to enjoy their SF experience. I love this city, and I also have come to love Airbnb.
