The Space

Come rent a private room in the Lucas House. Built in 1909 by the first city counselor of Bend and proprietor of the famous Pilot Butte Inn.

This room is located on the second floor. Each bedroom is fully furnished with a double bed, side tables and lamps, built in dressers and wall art. There are two shared bathrooms. There is a fully furnished kitchen with 2 fridges, so feel free to bring in your own food or walk three blocks to wonderful downtown restaurants and brewpubs. The living room sports a big screen TV, along with wireless internet, cozy in to watch Netflix or head to McMenamins to watch a movie. We also have a gas BBQ for outdoor cooking.

The house has character in keeping with it's age and history with a relaxing cottage-like feel on the inside. You will find original owner murals and interesting brick features and details through out this historic home.

Parking for at least 8 vehicles on site.

  • Lee was very friendly and helpful. She was easy to contact and immediately responsive to my call. The Lucas House is a beautiful building and the accommodations were basic, but really clean and just what I was looking for – a place with character and charm. Highly recommended.

  • Why is this required, when above it gives you an option to leave private feedback?

  • Great stay. Very accommodating and Lee was extremely nice and friendly. Fresh towels etc and clean sheets. For the price, this is unbeatable for Bend!

  • Lee was very easy to communicate with before arrival. The house is in a great location, as close to downtown as you could possibly want. The bedroom was simple, which was totally fine with me. You should know that this is a shared boarding house-style setup, with a number of other guests (some seemed to be longer term?) and shared bathrooms. Everyone else seemed totally nice, though there is inevitable foot traffic around the house which you should be comfortable with going in. Good value all in all.

  • Great little space for a short visit! Clean, and very cute! Lee Marie was so very easy to work with, she even met up with us at a pub to drop off the keys to our room. We will definitely stop by on our next trip through town!

  • Lee was great. Very responsive and kind. Awesome location! Great place to crash for a night.

  • The house is very much like a small hostel or boarding house, with different rooms renting for short/medium/long term guests. This had good sides, as longer term guests could help out people just visiting a day or two.

The house is large and has quite a number of rooms in it, which does mean that there can be a lot foot traffic coming and going at different times of night, and people up late talking. If you really need quite to sleep that is something to keep in mind.

Our room was colder than the main areas of the house, but under the covers it wasn't a problem.

Lee Marie herself was a nice host. She called me the day of arrival ahead of time just to check our approximate arrival time. We called her back about 15 min before we got there, and she met us to go over the house, our room, and all those kinds of things.

  • We just stayed for a night, but it was the perfect place to explore downtown Bend without having to drive at all. Would stay again.

  • Location, location, location. Easy walk to downtown. Relaxed house with everything you need for your low-key getaway.

Hello, My name is Lee. I am 45 years old, a business owner and a home owner and have lived in Bend for most of my life. I have a daughter, who has just moved into her own apartment here in Bend and a son, who is living in Tacoma and attending college. I have owned this house for the past 7 years and love the location in the middle of Bend. I have been a log home designer for the past 20 years, yet have embraced the change in economy and started up a new lapidary business in 2012. My studio is at my house and is open for tours. If you have a special rock or mineral that you've always wanted turned into a pendant or placed on a pedestal/light base, lets talk! I am also open to teaching workshops, allowing you to cut your own piece. My interests are many. From creating community and volunteer work. I enjoy the connections made with others. I have been to Burning Man the past three years and feel it is having a larger impact on me, as I open up more to my own potential. I love my house and gardening and making improvements over time. Alot of satisfaction in making my home comfortable and I enjoying sharing it with others. Looking forward to meeting you all. Cheers! Lee Marie Steckler
