This beautiful property is centrally located in the popular Hayes Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Known as the Russell Warren House, it is one of only a handful of properties in San Francisco listed on the National Registry of Historic Homes. If you're looking to experience San Francisco from the local perspective and immerse yourself in the culture, art and history of this amazing city, this is the place to be! It's walking distance to BART, the Castro, the Mission, Alamo Square and Haight-Ashbury. Union Square, Chinatown, Nob Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, and the Embarcadero are only a short streetcar ride away.
Your room booking includes access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room with TV, Wii, fully stocked bar, garden, laundry facilities and wireless internet service that extends to our beautiful garden oasis.
Our home survived the 1906 earthquake and has many original charming details including a working marble fireplace, chandeliers, crown moulding and hardwood floors throughout. The garden is very comfortable with a cozy sectional and a gas fire pit with azure glass. We provide warm blankets to snuggle under while you enjoy the fire pit and hot cocoa upon request.
Your hosts are Dave and Allison and Chacho the very nervous little chihuhua. Allison likes to cook and is available to prepare breakfast, snacks and even dinner on occasion if you care to join us. Our guests often like to join us as we entertain guests for dinner parties and holidays. It's the best way to really experience what it's like to live and thrive in San Francisco.
Our home is cozy and beautiful and we love hosting. We know San Francisco very well and are passionate about our city. Our philosophy about hosting is that once you become our guest, you're family, so there's never a stranger in our home! Please take some time to read our reviews, they speak volumes about our hospitality. We're a 5 star establishment, and your comfort is our priority.
The guest bedroom includes unique design touches and original art we're sure you'll enjoy. We provide plush robes, bath sheets and hand towels for your comfort and convenience. We finish to room with local chocolates on your pillow by Littlejohn's - a SF based company owned by a friend-to give you the full SF boutique hotel experience. The guest room is stocked with maps, tour books and local publications to help you plan your daily adventures. We're frequently available to help you map our your sights to help you get around the city and make the most of your time here. We provide breakfast pastries, granola, yogurt, fruit, coffee and juice for our guests and, on occasion, a custom breakfast prepared just for you.
Our garden is a small, sunny gem rich with flowers, blooming jasmine, a fountain and our very own apple tree. We have comfortable new patio furniture and a variety of gorgeous flora that will make you forget that you're in the heart of a major international city as you enjoy the buzzing of the hummingbirds and sip a glass of wine or your morning coffee.
Our neighborhood is safe, friendly and central to public transportation, boutique shopping, hip restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs. Within just a few blocks you'll find German, Italian, Japanese, French, Mediterranean, Thai and Soul food.
We also have bikes and helmets for rent for $25/day if you want to explore SF like a local!
PARKING: Just like any large city, parking can be a challenge. There are several parking garages that charge $20-45/night throughout town, the closest is Civic Center Garage. Generally in residential neighborhoods there is free 2 hour parking unless you have a resident parking sticker issued from the city. Just make sure you read ALL the signs in the area to avoid a ticket (street cleaning, construction, etc). The neighborhoods aren't patrolled as much by Parking Enforcement, but occasionally they do come by. After 2 years and well over 100+ guests, only 1 guest has gotten a ticket (they blocked a driveway). So, while the odds are in your favor not to get a ticket, the possibility is there. Just please read the signs...
CHECK IN 2 pm or later - CHECK OUT 11 am. If you must check in early, we'll try to accommodate but we often have back to back bookings. Thank you for understanding.
We look forward to helping you make your visit to San Francisco unforgettable.

This is the best place you could possibly stay in San Francisco. The house is beautiful - cozy without being cluttered, unique, decorated artfully, and best of all you feel welcome from the get go. Allison and Dave are not only super nice people, but they lead interesting lives and are great conversationalists. Aliison and Dave make you feel at home right away - I was tired from a very long flight and when I got in late they offered me wine and I sat and watched the olympics with them. They have a mi casa su casa idea about their kitchen, and aside from providing coffee and snacks when they ate they offered us soup, yogurt and fruit, you name it. Dave even gave me a ride to my job interview the first day which really alleviated some stress. They are attentive to detail from providing nice towels, chocolates and water in the room, etc. Its like the best parts of a B&B combined with the best parts of staying with a friend. I will recommend them enthusiastically to every person I know stopping in SF.
We had a great stay, and we were greeted with a very warm welcome. When we arrived, Allison and Dave sat with us at the kitchen table, provided some maps, and highlighted some suggested places to go/things to see. They also gave some guidance on how to get around the city. Using public transit was easy....no need to attempt renting a vehicle if you are staying in San Francisco! Our hosts had a great little blue book on the table in our room. It had more information about Dave, Allison, and their city. It had great resources and interesting tidbits of information. If you go, read that book first! The neighborhood seemed very safe, and we felt very 'at home', able to come and go as we pleased. We would definitely come back if given the opportunity. Thanks for a great experience, Dave & Allison.
Allison and Dave were amazing hosts!! I could not be happier with our choice to stay with them. They were friendly and made us feel welcome in their home. They were helpful and knowledgeable about San Francisco and even included us in on their Chinese New Year celebration. I would highly recommend staying with Allison and Dave! If I ever visit San Francisco in the future, I would not hesitate to stay with them again. Thank you for everything!!
Anyone going to San Francisco is missing a great experience if they stay anyplace else. Allison's home is only a short walk from downtown and other nice neighborhoods with great restaurants and Allison and Dave are super friendly, attentive to every detail. Their house is gorgeous and our room was just as cozy as it looked in the photo. There were yummy toffees from Littlejohn's to welcome us- so good we had to take an extra detour to get some to bring home. Allison goes out of her way to create a true B&B, complete with breakfast (good coffee, too!).
Allison and Dave were truly gracious hosts and the complimentary beer was a real treat. Their home is a true San Francisco gem. Allison's photos and Dave's art capture the spirit of the city. I highly recommend stating there.
I had a wonderful stay at Allison and Dave's! Their home is beautiful and well located, and the bed was very comfortable. They helped me figure out how to get where I was going over a delicious breakfast on Saturday morning, and made me feel welcome throughout my stay. They are just as down to earth as they are funky, creative, and interesting. I even left with a couple of quotes. I wish I would have read the blue scrapbook earlier in my stay. The parts about Chacho, their dog, were especially touching and funny. He's a cutie! I would love to stay at Allison and Dave's next time I'm in San Francisco. By the way, the MUNI pass is the way to go for transportation! It covers everything except BART, and that includes cable cars.
We stayed at the apartment of Allison and Dave (or DNA, more lovely and friendly!) for 7. From the moment we arrived we felt at home completely. We arrived too late, at night, because our fligth was delete, and as they both work early some days on the week, so they were sleeping...and the day after there was a letter welcoming us accompanied by a so delicious coffee and pastries for our breakfast . In the room, we find a package including maps and coupons from San Francisco, and even two lovely books with many tips, and the beautiful story of life and love about them!
They are really amazing hosts, always waiting for us with a friend smile and all the patient to help us with their lovely city!. It was great to stay with them and get to know them.
The room is clean and nice...and the apartment so, so beautiful!
DNA clearly loves to host guests, so please do them a favour as well as yourself, and book your acomodation at their place.
Dears friends, all the love from your brazilian friends! Thank you for making our stay with you so (website hidden) we miss muchacho...and your pastries and cookies too! :>)
Marcelo and Elisa.
Alisson and Dave are incredible! Adorable, very welcoming people. They make you feel at home.
Their place is so cute, and is in a good neighborhood and next to bus stops.
Allison and Dave were amazing hosts. Not only was their place very cool, and comfortable, it was centrally located and everything was easy to get to.
They were very generous, providing breakfast and coffee, and they they assisted myself and my friend in discovering some of the fun things happening while we were visiting.
I would recommend them as hosts to anyone, and would love to visit again.
Allison and David were the most amazing hosts! This was my first airbnb experience and it surpassed all of my expectations. Not only were they two of the coolest people I have ever met (think artsy-humanitarian-vintage-NFL fanatics in one) but they were friendly, inviting, and gracious. I stayed for 11 days and they truly made me feel at home. Home-cooked meals (all vegetarian for me!), free range of laundry and kitchen, and they even let me send packages to the house early for my trip! They also stocked the fridge full of fruits and veggies for my vegetarian diet! The House was just as breath-taking as the photos and little Chacho was a softy after a couple doggy treats. My boyfriend flew in for the last night and mid-Christmas Tree decorating party had shooting kidney pains...NEVER FEAR! Allison and David are both trained medical professionals and we were quickly sent to St. Francis ER (where Allison works) and had the most enjoyable experience someone could have in the ER on a Saturday night. Allison called in and made sure they were expecting us and we were greeted with warm blankets and hot beverages... in an ER...it was amazing. This experience was truly a blessing for me on a long trip away from home and I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I visit San Francisco.
