Enjoy the natural beauty of Santa Barbara minutes from the beaches, attractions, wineries, and downtown shopping and restaurants. Cottage in the Oaks offers a peaceful, private getaway opening onto a lovely mountain view deck shaded by oaks.
Cozy, peaceful cottage nestled in beautiful oaks accommodates one or a cozy two adults (children under 12, babies, and pets cannot be accommodated). A compact 160 square feet, the Cottage is comprised of a tiny living room with sofa, mini bedroom with double (not queen) bed, bathroom with shower, and mini-kitchen with microwave, hot plate, dishes, and mini frig. French doors open onto a full deck with expansive mountain view. One friendly cat patrols the premises and will visit if you like. Off street parking is included.
The Cottage is fairly secluded and private with the main house about 50 feet away. You have considerable privacy and freedom to come as go as you like without worry of disturbing anyone.
Located in a safe and eclectic neighborhood, the Cottage has a rural "country" feel just a minute off the highway. You're less than ten minutes to everything from UCSB and the airport to downtown, the waterfront, parks, and several beaches. It's located near the foot of the pass that takes you to the wine county in about 30 minutes.
I am a long time Santa Barbara resident, and happy to assist with plan making and hidden gems of the area.
Located in Santa Barbara's sunbelt when fog may visit the coastline, the Cottage offers you natural beauty and a glorious alpenglow after your day at the attractions.
• You and your baggage will need to negotiate stone stairs and a stone path to reach the Cottage. Those with walking issues may want a more level property. See the picture of the stairs.
• I have ceased to charge a cleaning fee. This is not a hotel and you are a guest. I ask that guests leave the Cottage as a house guest would: tidy with dishes washed, trash taken out, and used linens piled for the laundry.
• The Cottage is intended for one or two people over 12 years old without pets. More information on policies and amenities under "house rules."
For weekly or longer stays, a discount can be negotiated.
Interaction with Guests
I love interacting with guests, but want to respect the guests' maximum privacy. I won't come up to the Cottage except to greet you or answer a question, but welcome interactions, and always welcome a chat.
There are bus stops within walking distance, and easy bikeways to downtown. For the most part, a car is your best option.
Other Things to Note
The Cottage is near an open space, so you're likely to see and hear a variety of birds, and if you're lucky, local wildlife. Two open space areas are within walking distance.
• Check in is 2 p.m. and checkout noon. If nobody is coming in ahead or you or after, those can occasionally be extended.
• I cannot accommodate pets, extra guests, nor guests under 12 years old. The maximum is two adults.
• The property is non-smoking inside and out
• Refrain from the use of candles, barbecues, incense, or anything that lights with a match for safety reasons.
• It's a quiet neighborhood so quiet behavior respectful of the neighbors is needed.
• Kindly treat and leave the Cottage as you would as a house guest. Upon departure, please wash your dishes, take out the trash, and pile your used linens.
• Travelers are welcome to use the washer and dryer.
The cat is more than welcome to visit with you all you want- just put him out before you go to bed, so I can call him in and keep him safe.
You'll find included: fresh towels, sundries (soap, shampoo, conditioner), a coffee maker and coffee, teapot, pots, pans, and dishes, a mini refrigerator, hot plate, microwave, wireless Internet, space heaters, fan, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and smoke alarm.
Kris' communications with us were always prompt, clear, and very helpful. She greeted us as soon as she was able, and was genuinely warm and always more than willing to help us with whatever we needed.
The setting is quaint and beautiful, the deck fabulous, the neighborhood is generally very quiet and peaceful, and Cheddar The Cat is extremely friendly and entertaining.
We had an extremely busy three days here and were in and out a lot; there was quick access to all points in Santa Barbara and everything seemed within 10 or 15 minutes of Kris' place.
For us it was the perfect place to hang our tired hats after attending to all the weekend's business!!...Thanks Kris!!
We very much enjoyed staying in the cottage, and Kris was very nice to work with. The cottage is quite small, but we knew that ahead of time. We liked it very much. The view of the hills was great, and there is a nature trail just up the street which we enjoyed.
Our stay in Kris' cottage was truly special. The pictures were completely accurate and the cottage was perfect for 2 people and was completely cozy. My fiancé proposed to me while we stayed here and Kris knew about it. She stopped by the night he proposed to congratulate
us. She is one of the most kind and warm hearted people we've ever met. Cheddar came to greet us and is the most awesome cat! Our stay here was amazing and there is everything you need in the cottage. The bed was comfy and surrounding was beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in Santa Barbara. Also, the cottage is located in an area that is a short drive to everything fun in Santa Barbara!
This adorable cottage was perfect! It's a 7 minute drive to the beach and some pretty great hiking spots. Kris was sweet and accommodating. We saw very little of her but we weren't around much either. She made herself available if anything was needed. Cheddar is super friendly and cuddly. Thanks so much for everything!!!
We had a wonderful airbnb experience with Kris. She was very welcoming and provided excellent destinations to visit for our first time in Santa Barbara. The location was conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood right off the 101. The cottage is cozy but enough for just two people. The cottage is at the end of the property so you get privacy but in case of anything Kris is readily available. The beach and local attractions are within five miles. Cheddar is the cutest cat. Would recommend a visit. Thanks Kris!
This was the absolute cutest place ever. It was very clean and well kept and the pictures were extremely accurate. Although we didn't get a chance to meet Kris, she was very responsive via e-mail and did leave us a sweet note on our last day. I highly recommend this listing.
Kris was a warm and welcoming host, the studio was exactly as advertised, and the neighborhood was quiet, pretty, and (best of all for my purposes) close to where my daughter lives, within easy reach of both Santa Barbara proper and Goleta/UCSB.
I'm Kris, long time resident of Santa Barbara. I look forward to welcoming guests and sharing this beautiful area with you. I am an active birder, biker, and ocean person and have quite a bit of travel experience. I can help you find the things you want to do here, and link you with the people who can help you make the most of your stay.
