About this listing
Have you ever wanted to live next to pygmy oaks and shrubbery? If not, the network of pathways right to the ocean may do the trick. Directly next to the Elfin Forest, this is the perfect vacation home for a nature lover, and just 10 minutes to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This beautiful home boasts an open floor plan with a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room with vaulted ceilings. There are three adorable bedrooms big enough to house a whole family or a group of friends, yet cozy enough to feel comfortable for a couple.
Los Osos is a charming bay town five minutes from Montana De Oro and just across from Morro Bay. There is never a dull moment for the adventurer, shopper, or foodie.
Far enough form the hustle and bustle to truly feel at peace, and close enough to enjoy all the comforts of home, you will find Casa de Osos your own second home.
We had a really nice time staying and Kim and Rob's home. It is on a quiet street and literally steps from the beautiful Elfin Forest. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen has lots of pots and pans and the living room has cozy couches. There is a working washer and dryer. The only thing that was not ideal was there is not a separate table for eating - there is a large kitchen bar with 3 chairs for eating at, but we were 4 adults and two young children. Overall, we would highly recommend this as a place to stay if you are interested in exploring the nearby and magnificent Montana del Oro State Park and Morro Bay.
We enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Casa de Osos. The house is as described (though we didn't notice the musty odor others mentioned). We were 2 couples and 2 toddlers and we were comfortable in the space, though I think more than that might be a stretch. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The backyard is well-designed and spacious, with a large grill and a table for eating outdoors.
A few feet away from the house is the Elfin Forest preserve, a peaceful walk through dwarf trees that leads to the bay. The neighborhood is low-key and beachy, and so is the town that is about a 20 minute walk away.
Kim was available by phone and text for any questions we had.
Kim and Rob made our check in to Casa de Osos Bayside Charmer super simple by providing a code to the door the day before our arrival. Since we were driving from San Francisco, it was great not having to rush to be there at an exact time. The location is fabulous, right next to one of my favorite Central Coast spots, the Elfin Forest. It's literally right out the front door, and a wonderful walk to take at sunset. Parking was very easy, with a large spot in the driveway and ample street parking, too. We booked the Bayside Charmer specifically for its dog friendliness, and our dog loved exploring the rustically landscaped backyard. We wish we'd had more time to use the BBQ and cute patio set.
We only used the bedroom at the front of the house, but every room was decorated to a unique personality and provided ample sleeping space. Though we were visiting for a busy wedding weekend, we were able to take advantage of the entertainment options available on the TV. There's no cable, but you don't need it when you have Netflix, HBO Go, and many other services to choose from.
Unfortunately, it seemed like the Bayside Charmer may not have been rented out recently, and a troop of ants had created a superhighway up the hall. Luckily we located some ant spray in the kitchen, but we were hands and knees getting everything cleaned up.
Casa de Osos Bayside Charmer is a good spot to spend a casual weekend on the Central Coast, or a peaceful overnight on a coastal road trip.
Great location! Rob was very good at getting back to me with regards to questions. The house had a stale scent to it upon entering but once windows and doors were open, it was fine for the rest of our stay. With that said, the place has great air flow. Bedrooms had nice beds and plenty of space. Kitchen was well equipped and even the pantry to some degree. Bathroom was good with the exception of mildew on shower curtain. Living room and backyard were very relaxing areas of the house. Enjoyed the natural sunlight and open feel of the house. First time to airbnb so I didn't know I had to negotiate the check out time. The cleaner came by at 11am and we had to quickly end our visit. Other than the little things, I enjoyed my stay overall.
Casa de Osos is a nice little place. We easily fit two families ( 7 people) and made use of the spacious backyard. The location was fantastic, the neighborhood quiet and easily accessible off the main road. Kim was prompt in responding to questions I had and seemed very nice. I was a little disappointed that the three beds were unmade upon our arrival. But apart from that I would definitely stay there again.
The house was very clean and comfortable, and the location was great. We enjoyed the town and the forest preserve, and it was well-located for access to SLO and Morro Bay. Kim was very easy to deal with, and all was as expected. Thanks!
Their home was in a great location for our wedding only 15mins from downtown SLO which was great. We also loved how close to nature it was and enjoyed walking along the trail paths. Kim and Rob were a pleasure to book with and their home came with everything that was needed, even lots of fun board games for us to enjoy! We would happily stay again.
About the Host, Kim And Rob
We are teachers who LOVE to get away from it all. While we are at home in LA, the allure of the central coast is too much for us to resist. It truly makes us happy to know that others can also enjoy the peace and relaxation we feel every time we open the front door of Casa de Osos.
Our motto is stolen from a very popular shoe company and to avoid legal trouble we will not disclose it here. Suffice it to say, we like to go do things. Swiftly. When we are not spending time at Casa de Osos, we are traveling or spending time with friends and family.
