Private bedroom with shared bath in the upstairs 2br 1ba home of a duplex. The bed is a queen size inner spring futon with a 3" dense foam pad. It's very comfortable, I know, having slept on it a few times already. Both the bathroom and kitchen are 3 years new. The rest of the house is colorful with many plants sharing the space. There's a small deck off the kitchen that looks over the trees and the creek, where you can watch the hummingbirds or other critters that live among us.There's cable TV and over 100 DVDs and tapes you can watch. I also have a sweet old cat who lives with me. She is very friendly but sleeps most of the time.
You'll have breakfast each morning along with coffee/tea. You are otherwise free to use the kitchen. I work during the day most of the time, and when I'm around I'd be happy to drop you off at the train or some other place.
The house is located at the dead end of a street and has many trees around the back and sides of the property. We don't get the noise of a street that has through traffic, but it does sometimes get neighbors double parking. With some maneuvering we can get a second car in and out of the right driveway.
Downtown Redwood City is a couple of miles away and has many restaurants, shops, a multiplex theater and outdoors events during the summer months. There is also a large community park 2 blocks away.
Public transportation is around the corner M-F (this is changing 26 Jan - tba) with a bus that goes to downtown, the Caltrain station and other bus connections. There are other bus stops at a farther walk.
Driving times (without traffic):
10 minutes to both 101 and 280 freeways
SFO 30 minutes
San Jose Airport 30 minutes
Stanford: 10-15 minutes

I had a very comfortable stay at Julia's place. Room is clean and well decorated. Bathroom is very clean too. Julia is very friendly and gracious host. I had good conversations with her. She also made very good breakfast for me. Super friendly person. I highly recommend her place.
Julia was a gracious hostess and the apartment was beautiful, very clean and well stocked (toiletries, clean towels, etc.), it was my first airbnb experience and I have to say it was much better then a hotel. Her apartment was very quiet, warm with a very delicious breakfast. Furthermore, she made the arrival process very easy. she was a great host and her studio.
Julia was very accessible when needed but gave me my privacy. I highly recommend Julia and her place to anyone who would like a comfortable home in RedWood City.
This was a great place, I really enjoyed my stay here. I stayed for a few months as I finished up my last quarter at Stanford. Julia was a great host. She is very friendly and fun to talk to. In addition, she always went out of her way to be helpful (if I needed a ride to campus, etc)
The room was a nice, quiet and private space. I always had full access to the kitchen, bathroom and anything else that I needed. I would highly recommend it if you are going to be in the area!
Julia was a wonderful host! The house was warm and comfortable with lots of plants and very tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable and the room was plenty big enough for a single or couple on any length of stay. Julia herself was great to talk to and extremely interesting - we often stayed up past our bed times chatting with each other. I was in the area as part of a grad school intensive and all my classmates were jealous because I had the best lodging arrangement and experience of all of them. I would certainly stay with Julia again if the opportunity presented itself.
Julia is a great host!. You'll be happy spending some time at her place. The room fitted my needs perfectly in terms of size & furniture. The bathroom was very clean. The 271 and 274 SamTrans bus stops are very close to the place so you can catch them to go to the Caltrain Station. I had a car a few days and I could park it with no problem. Totally recommend it!
