*I AM AWARE THE PHOTO IS SIDEWAYS. They won't seem to let me do anything about it...*
Up for grabs is a private room in a 2-bedroom apartment in Jersey City, across the river from New York City. 15 minute walk to the subway, which is then a 10 minute, $3 ride into the City. Adjacent to the subway stop are 24-hour fast food restaurants (Subway, McDonald's, White Castle). The neighborhood is safe at all hours; I'm a Caucasian male who usually dresses well and I've never had problems here.
About me: I am a recent Harvard graduate and young professional who is happy to show you around the City. However, this does not mean I will be your sidekick during your entire stay; I do have an agenda of my own though I do come home nightly. I have lightning-fast wi-fi, HD cable, and a landline phone that I will of course make available to you. My apartment is spacious (>1000 sq ft) and well-kept; I ask that you do your share to keep it this way.
About you: clean, drug-free and respectful of reasonable hours-- I'm a cool, low maintenance guy. Security deposit due upon booking.
The room has a full-size futon; the futon can accommodate 2 people, the room's floor 1 person, and I have 2 couches that can accommodate 2 more.
The PATH's Journal Square station is a 15 minute walk away; from there, it is a 10-15 minute ride into Manhattan. The cost is $2.50/ride.
There is also a bus that runs from my apartment to the PATH station.

We stayed there 3 nights.
It was about 30 minutes to manhatten from the house.
The house was clean and it was kind of hard to contact the host because we only used email, and the response was quite slow.
And I didn't know that we shared the house together also with other guests.
This person lives on the other side of the globe, would send me e-mails in the middle of the night (in my time zone), and get angry/impatient when I wouldn't respond until I was able to, which was usually the middle of the day or end of the day in my time zone. Her demands were unreasonable.
Very nice Host! Stayed there for two weeks, zero problems with him, he showed and told me everything i needed to know :-) Thx again Andrew!
Really enjoyed our stay. The place is nothing fancy but for the price it was perfect. It's easy to get to Manhattan by a quick bus (#10 or #87) and then a PATH train from Journal Square Station from his place and most importantly the bed was comfortable. That's really all that mattered to us.
I stayed at Andrew's apartment for 3 nights. I was looking for a quiet and safe place that is close to NYC. I found all of these in Andrew's apartment. The room itself is clean and neat and the bed is very comfortable. I would book the same room again if revisit NJ.
Andrew was a wonderful host! He is very kind, responsible and very accommodating. The place is roomy and clean. My advice is to go with Andrew and don't look back!
We stayed for 2 nights this December at Andrew's place, it was the first stop of our trip. We emailed Andrew to tell him we will be arriving a little late in the night (after a hard and long journey), it was no problem for him. From JS we took bus, the bus stop is only 2-3 minutes walk.
Andrew was very nice and accommodating, thanks to him!
Andrew was very a good host.
We did not have any problem and I would be happy to rent his place again.
Stayed at Andrew's place for 8 days. The place is quiet and the room was clean and spacious. The APT is about 15-20 mins walk to JSQ PATH station, from where it takes about 10 mins into downtown NYC. Had no problems communicating with him via email/text. Andrew even gave me a ride a couple of times, including picking me up from JSQ on arrival. This place is great value for the money and would love to stay here again if I am in the area.
Good experience! We had a comfortable stay here, and Andrew was very helpful with our questions. We had full access to the facilities in the Apt. And the neighborhood is very safe. Not a long way to walk to the Path station from here. Recommend!
We stayed in Andrew's appartment for a week.
We had big problems during check-in: we informed, we would arrive to the JFK airport at 11 pm. It took almost 2 hours to get Andrew's place. The entrance door was locked. We did't know his room number. We called him (roaming call), sent him a SMS. No answer. I got internet access and sent him a message via Airbnb. No answer, so we dialed the room from the lobby. No answer. It was already 2 am (an hour beeing uncertain about where we would sleep) and we felt abandoned in Jersey City. It is unacceptable!!! I calculated that the windows on the left side of the building maybe related to his room and started knocking on them. Andrew finally woke up.
The room and the floor in the bathroom were dirty, there was neither bed linen nor towels. The bed squeacked and folded, so we rolled to the center of the bed.
Location: good,15 min on foot to the nearest railstation (PATH company) and then 30 min to Downtown of Mannhatan.
We could use the kitchen any time we wanted. It was nice to see a bar for chin-ups in the kitchen. We used it regurally too.
Andrew was a nice person.
Good place for budget travellers, but the living conditions leave much to be desired!!!
This review is blatantly untrue and is retaliatory feedback for my refusal to let them check-out late free of charge.
First, this review was edited by airbnb as the original version contained my address, which they put up there out of anger.
Second, no employed human being is awake at 2am on a weeknight, and I sent them 2 messages asking why they had not arrived by 10:45pm. I was never told what time they would arrive; I have all of our airbnb dialogue to prove this.
The day before their departure, they asked if they could check-out 4 hours late as their flight departed in the evening. I said this would cost $15 per the posted policy, and they got immediately offended. It is not a host's responsibility to stay up until all hours of the night to accommodate guests who chose to arrive or depart at unreasonable hours, or entertain guests for the same purpose.
