Gensac Tower is a former windmill converted to provide unique, quality accommodation for two people in beautiful, rolling, vineyard-covered region of SW France. Double bedroom, private kitchen and bathroom. Easy walk into lovely medieval village.
A converted former windmill also used during WWII as a watch tower. Amazing 360 deg views from the roof.
Own entrance and driveway. Gas BBQ. Own fully equipped kitchen, shower room, WC.
Interaction with Guests
We live on site in the main house nearby but the tower is very private with its own access away from our house.
Beautiful listed medieval village with lots of amenities and plenty of village events taking place throughout the summer.
A car is essential.
Other Things to Note
There is a steep path up to the tower and open stone staircases within so the property is not suitable for children or anyone with reduced mobility.
This is your own private space where you can relax and prepare your own meals, walk into the village to pick up some croissants and lounge around enjoying the views. No smoking please, and no pets. We have a labrador who might bark at you or smile at you but will do you no harm, and 3 free-range hens who wander round the garden.
We had a fantastic time here, the tower is lovely and fun to be in and around. Very peaceful and discrete, you can have as much privacy as you choose. Fiona and Mark were always on hand and friendly but never intrusive. Gensac itself is a small village but has a well stocked shop as well as two restaurants, though we had barbecues at the tower most nights on the sun terrace. Stayed 10 days, could easily have stayed longer.
We have had a great time at Gensac Tower!
This great residence is a former windmill and watchtower that is very romantically situated on a hill overlooking the astonishing surroundings of Gensac. On the inside it has been fully restored, keeping authentic details intact. Outside you can choose to sit either in your private garden or on top of the tower.
The living space is not very big, but very clean and comfortable. It has all facilities you need during your relaxing holiday, including a BBQ, dishwasher and Wifi. Fiona and Marc have been very helpful in advising the best places to visit and local wines to drink. We highly recommend this place and already look forward to visiting this great place again.
We are English and settled in South West France in 2007. We were drawn here by the beautiful landscape, the weather, the easy pace of life, the food and, of course, the wonderful Bordeaux wines!
