The space
This cozy 1950s cabin is a rustic staple of true old Florida with all the feel of the Nature Coast. Guests will have two bedrooms and one full bath with a convenient stand-up shower.
We provide bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes, make-up towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap & lotion.
The living area is centered around a large Roku TV, plush loveseat, and armchair, perfect for relaxing after a day on the water. The full kitchen is stocked with a fridge, stove, microwave, and coffee maker, providing everything you need to prepare your meals.
There are 2 AC units in the home, located in the Kitchen/living room area & in the front bedroom. To keep things cool in the back bedroom we leave the bedroom doors open before guests check-in. Leaving the doors open during your stay is up to your discretion. Each room is equipped with a ceiling fan to keep cool air circulating.
The Screened-in Porch - This is our favorite spot to unwind. With a fan to keep it breezy & comfortable in the Florida heat, string lights with Bluetooth speakers to enjoy the view with a tune.
An in-unit washer and dryer for your convenience.
Just across the street, you have exclusive access to a private dock. This is reserved specifically for Aripeka Key guests to launch our provided kayaks & paddleboards for excursions into the canal and out to the Gulf.

If you are bringing your own boat or jet ski, the historic Norfleet's Fish Camp public boat ramp and store is located in town just over the bridge for quick Gulf access. Once on the water it's a short trip to the Hernando Beach flats which is a local favorite for anchoring out to spend the day swimming, grilling and soaking up the sun!
For guests who bring airboats, the property offers fantastic access: once you launch at the nearby ramp, you can navigate right in and out of the backyard at the right tides, allowing you to park behind the cabin and easily explore the surrounding backcountry salt marsh, islands and mangrove trails at favorable tides. (Please be sure to check Hammock Creek tides).
Step outside to a spacious backyard designed for outdoor living. You’ll find a fire pit for evening gatherings, a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking, (**Bring your own charcoal**) a concrete patio with a bench, & 2 deck chairs.
The sun sail pictured over the concrete patio is available upon request. We do get many breezy days here on the Nature Coast so to prevent it from sailing away we don't keep it up in between rentals.
You'll notice none of the homes on Aripeka Key have privacy fences - This boundless environment not only offers the feel of lodging at a campground but also it allows the Florida Native wildlife to freely roam in their natural environments.
Local Wildlife Around Aripeka Key & the Cabin:
Grab your morning coffee on the screened-in porch to catch wild turkeys 🦃currently with a few babies in tow—traveling out of the marsh across the backyard.
Sandhill Cranes are frequent Nature Coast stars, with prime viewing in the evenings just before sunset as they take flight out to the islands for the night.
Racoons 🦝 can sometimes be seen peeking their heads out of the sawgrass just to check out the happenings - They're harmless and are typically out of sight before you know exactly what you saw.
You may also spot roaming 🐓chickens during the day before they head off to roost. Other native birds you may spot are White Ibis, Blue Herons & Great Herons frequenting the marsh for crustaceans.
Deer 🦌also love Aripeka Key, they have been seen casually walking down our limerock road checking out the neighborhood. Often in the early mornings they are spotted making their way out of the marsh and hanging around the backyard.
Wild hogs sometimes come over from the islands, but they typically hang around the edges of the marsh early mornings or late evenings and are no bother—you might even spot a few babies. That is actually how we got our friendly pet Rebella; caught as a baby, this nature preserve is the only home she has ever known, and she can occasionally be seen foraging around the yard or playing in the water.
Peacocks 🦚Keep an eye out for local peacocks, including a couple with babies, crossing the road on your way to Norfleet's Fish Camp and boat ramp. Sometimes they even make their way strolling right down our street in front of the cabin.

Parking: Shell rock driveway directly in front of the entry steps for convenient parking.
