Private and secluded yet close to Oakhurst, Bass Lake and the south gate to Yosemite National Park, Our Mountain Hideaway can comfortably sleep up to seven travelers. Private entrance, kitchen, large bedroom, Satellite TV, WiFi, Quiet neighborhood.

The Space

Our Mountain Hideaway is only 2.2 miles from Oakhurst, 15 miles from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park and 7 miles from Bass Lake.

The main room has a full kitchen with all that you should need for your cooking pleasure including:
•Garbage disposal
•Stove top
•A Keurig Coffee/Tea maker with a selection of beverages
•Microwave/convection oven
•Dishes and silverware
•Pots and pans, even a crockpot
•Basic spices and condiments
In the same large open area you will find:
•An eating area with a table for six - TV trays and an extra table are available.
•A living room area which is furnished with a TV, desk with computer and comfortable seating for six or more, including a sofa sleeper.

The large bedroom is a spacious and open 16' x 24' room with two roomy closets. It is furnished with a new queen-size bed, twin-size daybed with matching trundle stowed away underneath, a large desk and comfortable recliner. The room is splashed with sunlight from the south with diffused light through live-oak tree canopies pouring in from the large sliding-glass door that accesses the balcony and windows on both adjacent walls. As well, there is a new 32" flat panel TV with Dish Satellite TV and an assortment of DVDs.

The open loft area above the entrance to our hideaway has an adjustable twin bed with a 10" memory foam mattress and a small table with 2 chairs.

The roomy bathroom has a shower, sink, commode, separate vanity, and lots of storage.

Our Mountain Hideaway, with the exclusion of the entrance, is located on the second floor above an oversized multi-car garage, in a wing that is separate from the main house.

On the ground floor level you will find a private entrance to Our Mountain Hideaway, plenty of parking in the large circular driveway, lawn area in front and back, BBQ and picnic table.

•Free Wireless Internet.
•2 TVs with Dish Satellite
•A library containing an assortment of several dozen DVDs.
•Bookshelves throughout the hideaway containing a library of 50 to 75 books; a nice mix of fiction and non-fiction.
•Games and toys.

New! We now use The Honest Company's safe and eco-friendly products for cleaning and laundry and offer their products for your use while staying at Our Mtn. Hideaway. Aveda hair and bath products are also available for your use.

Critters of all sorts roam through our property on a regular basis, including a covey of quail, a herd of deer and grey squirrels. Though they are all wonderful to watch from a distance, we do not recommend approaching or feeding any wild animals.

Guest Access

Our Mtn. Hideaway has a private entrance. A lock-box with key allows our guests a late check-in if necessary. If we know you'll be late, we'll leave the lights on for you! We now have a spiral stair case as an alternate way to exit Our Mtn. Hideaway and to allow easy access to the back yard where our guests can enjoy a BBQ. A Corn Hole game is available for outdoor fun.

Interaction with Guests

We like to meet our guests and show them a few things about Our Mtn. Hideaway. After that we are available by text or phone call to answer questions, but generally give our guests space and privacy. We work full time, but are usually home on the weekends.

The Neighborhood

We live in a very quiet and friendly neighborhood. Our house is almost at the end of the road, if you just drive around the bend you'll come to a cul-d-sac, the end of the road. So there is very little traffic. If you take the short walk up to the cul-d-sac and at the end of the cul-d-sac walk up the short old paved driveway to the end of the pavement, you'll find a nice place to take in the view of our little town of Oakhurst.

Getting around

There is no public transportation in our area.

Other Things to Note

There is a portable heater stored in the loft that can be moved to any room to be used as needed. The center heat control is next to the microwave.

Linens and a 2" foam pad for the sofa bed are stored in the west side bed room closet.

Though the water here will not make one sick, we do suggest bottled water as a good alternative to the tap water for the sake of taste. There is Bria filtered water in the refrigerator.

  • Sally is absolutely amazing. So thorough and responsive. The place is immaculate and has everything I'd ever think of. The best airbnb experience among the several I've had this far.

  • We had a great time. Sally & Dan were great hosts and have a lovely mother-in-laws apartment to stay in with all kinds of amenities. Especially enjoyed their home made chocolate treat and Aveda bath products. Convenient location for Yosemite touring.

  • An exceptional place to stay. It is very comfortable and well equipped and everything is in great condition. Our hosts were exceptionally kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and just wish it was nearer to where we live!
    Highly recommended!

  • Sally is a great host! And what a house! A large living room and kitchen. A very spacious sleeping room. Everything was just there and very clean. We didn't miss anything.
The house is 1 and a half hour away from Yosemite.
We recomment Sally's house to everyone visiting Oakhurst or Yosemite.

  • This Mountain Hideaway was perfect for us. Sally was a wonderful host and provided everything we needed. Even though we had a big group of 6 adults and 1 two year old, our stay was very comfortable. Sally and her husband live in the main house. The "Hideaway" is attached to the side, but with a completely separate entrance.

Sally has provided a wonderful book with itinerary ideas for the Yosemite area. We used this a lot. It is about 25 minutes to the south entrance of the park and an hour to the main valley. This was never an issue though as the drive is beautiful and there are lots of things to do along the drive.

This was a beautiful place to stay and felt like home when we arrived. We definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away for few days.

  • Sally's house was our first experience with airbnb and it couldn't be better. I Washington starting a journey through some parts of the west of the USA with my husband, son and daughters and Sally's wonderful house was our starting point and offered us the feeling of being at home after a long time separated. The house is spacious and has everything you need and more. It is very clean and nice. I specially liked the light and views from the several windows and the comfortable beds. Sally and Den permitted us to use their b&b and we had a memorable dinner at the garden. Wildlife is very close and even a deer appeared. It is also an excellent place if visiting Yosemite as we did, very close to the entrance.

Thanks Aida. It was great to see your family enjoying our back yard BBQ. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Our Mtn. Hideaway.

  • Sally was an excellent host! She promptly responded to all of my emails and gave us a great tour of the place when we arrived. The guest house was more than we could have hoped for with our stay. It was very clean, new, and equipped with all the things we needed in your visit to Yosemite. Our family of 6 stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Yosemite. There was plenty of room for everyone. The kids even had some games and toys to play with and a large selection of DVDs to watch. The house is just a short 5 minute drive from the main part of town (Oakhurst). It was about a 30 minute drive to the south entrance of Yosemite and about 1.5 hour drive to the Yosemite valley. The drive is beautiful, but very winding -- so (speaking from experience) be careful with kids that get car sick.

  • This property was fabulous, as was our host. Sally has made this a wonderful place to visit. There are properties in Yosemite that will have you closer, but at the end of the day you go back to a room. At the Mountain Hideaway, you come home. Beautifully decorated, a lot of room, quiet and comfy. We enjoyed meeting Sally and the scrumptious fudge she made for us. A real treat. Miller's Landing at Bass Lake was a great spot to get a wonderful burger and fries - and lovely view of the Lake. We thank Sally for that recommendation. If we are out this way again, it would be the only place we would stay. We've been telling our friends and family how great it is.

Hi Michelle, thanks for your wonderful review. We'd like to quote this line:
"There are properties in Yosemite that will have you closer, but at the end of the day you go back to a room. At the Mountain Hideaway, you come home." Do we have your permission to do so?

  • We had a wonderful experience staying with Sally. It was a cozy, yet spacious place with everything we needed. The barbecue grill was pulled out for us, and was easy to use. Communicating was super easy, as she was very quick in responding. The patio was extremely nice to relax in as well. We would absolutely love to come back again!

Owner and Operator of Dan's Auto Center
I am local and my husband Dan is a Bay Area transplant. We both enjoy hosting guests and sharing our love of the Sierra Nevadas and Yosemite. We still work fulltime as the owners and operators of Dan’s Auto Center. I love to hike and explore, Dan prefers horsepower to get around. If you ask, Dan would be more than happy to show you his collection of cars in the garage. Quilting is my passion, which is evident in my decorating style. Being self-employed, we don’t have a chance to do much traveling. But for a quick get-away in the summer, Mammoth Lakes is our favorite destination. The trip through Yosemite and over Tioga Pass is amazing! Carmel by the Sea is another place we love to go for a weekend trip. So far, our motto when traveling has been "hurry up and have fun". Someday we hope to slow it down a bit, stay a little longer and take time to really enjoy the sites and get to know the locals to get the true flavor of the places we visit. For now, we will settle for traveling vicariously through you. Tell us the highlights of your trip in our journal and please put a pin on our map!
