What guests have to say: “Sometimes it takes stepping away from the masses to rediscover what it is that we are truly meant to do with our lives…We loved the simplicity of this little green heaven and will be back for sure…So grateful for the beauty, the gardens, the nest of a cottage...We slept like logs and woke to lovely adventures right here in the hood… Great! Inspiring, peaceful, wonderful…”
A few notes:
Sonoma County requires us to charge and collect for them a 9% "Transient Occupancy Tax". That means that $9.00 has been added to our $100.00 per night room rate for the cottage, which we pay to the County. (The funds are used to underwrite events and promote tourism in Sonoma County.
Wi-fi: There is wireless internet on the property, though signal strength can vary.
Couples Retreat: In addition to our cottage, we have a guest room with a private entrance and a private bathroom--that when rented along with the cottage--provides nice accommodations for two couples. (This space rents for $75 per night off-season or $85 per night high-season and holidays.)
Additional Guests: The cottage is most appropriate for up to 2 people. A third person can be accommodated on a tri-fold mattress on the floor for an extra fee.
REQUIRED COUNTY TAX: Sonoma County requires us to charge and collect for them a 9% "Transient Occupancy Tax". Until AirBnB works out a way for hosts to collect their required municipal taxes, we will use AirBnB's "special offer" or "alteration request" functions to add the 9% tax to the booking fees. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
PETS: A small, well-behaved dog is allowed with advanced permission and with a signed pet agreement, plus an additional fee of $10 per night. (Sorry, no cats as too many people are allergic to them.)
No smoking indoors
Sonoma County regulations allow 2 guests only (except for a baby or young child). Additional guests or parties are not allowed.
Neighborhood quiet time is 10pm.
I had a wonderful and relaxing few days in this cozy cabin! The neighborhood was quiet and welcoming. The cabin itself was clean, and had everything I needed. My dog loved exploring the property and exploring the beautiful creek behind the land. Jim gave me some great suggestions for hiking and dining in the area. I hope to come back!
We know better than to have expectations when going on a trip, but my partner and I needed a vacation so badly, and the Cottage in the Redwoods looked absolutely perfect...so we went in with expectations.
Yet somehow, the Cottage in the Redwoods not only met but actually EXCEEDED the perfect vision we both had in our minds. Comfy bed...cozy fire…peace and quiet...just about every home amenity we could have wanted...surrounded by redwoods...hammocks under the trees and stars…and the ever-ready hot tub. Sounds too idyllic to be true, but somehow, it is.
And our warm, welcoming hosts! Kathy helped us prepare by sending detailed directions and a wealth of info on the surrounding areas, and Jim gave us a fantastic tour of the grounds when we got there, including the veggie garden and the private path to the creek.
(The creek was gorgeous, btw, and we could hear it from the hot tub sometimes if we listened carefully! But I digress.)
And the gift keeps giving! Both of us feel wonderfully rejuvenated now, and my acupuncturist for neck tension says I’m the most relaxed she’s ever seen me. I’ll call that results.
Thank you so much, Kathy and Jim, for making all of this possible! We had a wonderful time and hope to be back very soon!
I was greeted by Jim when I arrived and met Kathy and Bella the next day. The cottage is a lovely oasis and very peaceful. I enjoyed sitting on the porch and in the yard in the morning under the redwoods. The cottage is clean and neat. I had everything I needed. It was a wonderful place to be away from the stress of my daily life for a week. I am looking forward to my next visit.
When we arrived the gas stove was warming the room, gently music was playing, and the lights were on and inviting. This made arriving and settling in with an 8 month old baby much easier. They even left out a special towel just for the dog. We had just the right amount if space in the cottage to set up a pack n' play and a bed for the dog. This was the perfect launching spot for us to explore Guernville and barrel tasting weekend. The hot tub was always ready for us and we especially loved the private garden area with hammock and a spot to put down a blanket for the baby to play. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area!
I felt very welcome. The cabin/cottage was perfect, much more actually than I expected. The neighborhood was quiet which is what I was looking for. My dog was allowed to come with me and there was even a fenced in yard so that he could be outside on his own, no leash, no supervision.
My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate his birthday. It ended up being a perfect little vacation. The cottage is clean and warm, and the setting is beautiful; right against a creek, under a redwood grove. The location is also great; not far from Russian River and the main strip in Guernville. Jim and Kathy were very friendly, warm and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here!
Very cozy and comfortable Airbnb. I didn't meet Jim but Kathy made me feel very welcome. The bed is very comfortable with high quality sheets and blankets. The kitchen is well stocked. The hot tub area is really wonderful. Thanks Jim and Kathy for a wonderful stay.
