PRIME LOCATION! You are in the middle of all the action in the Haight with no street noise.Great Coffee Shops,Restaurants,Bars, Markets,Shopping and Amazing Public Transportation-all directly outside my door with GG Park just a few blocks away.
PERFECT LOCATION -- STEPS AWAY FROM. . .
*PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO ALL OVER THE CITY
Located in the Heart of the Haight - Ashbury District, just one block away from the Historic Haight - Ashbury intersection, you will not be disappointed with the location. I am literally surrounded by a colorful community of bars, restaurants, street performers, and shops. Just a side note- The television show "Oddities" films some/most of their show at "Loved to Death" one block away from my apartment. Pretty cool place amongst so many other shops to check out.
The Large room you will be staying in boasts a brand new comfortable full/double size mattress (as of 3/14) with a couple of tables, and a vintage couch to lounge on. The private backyard is also a sweet little bonus in the city! As is conducive with the neighborhood historically, this is a 420 friendly environment.
The apartment is very centrally located and many neighborhoods such as the Mission, The Marina, Noe Valley,The Castro, Downtown, Noe Valley, and the Presidio are just some of the neighborhoods you can get to via bus lines that run outside my door. You couldn't get anymore centrally located! The 33, 37, 43 and 71 bus lines run outside my house. The N line (our subway) is a few blocks away and can take you quickly to downtown - or you can go in the opposite direction directly to the beach! There is a Next Bus Muni App that will help you get around while you are in SF. I will send you links that can help you while you are in SF.
*Please note: You must be cat friendly to rent this room because Sam, my very loving cat, also lives in the apartment. The apartment is litter box/odor free as he has a cat door. He is a VERY laid-back, loving cat. Just wants to sleep and be loved.
Nestled in the bottom floor of a century old house just off of Haight St., providing instant neighborhood access, but without the constant street noise. The Entrance to Golden Gate Park, the Panhandle, and Buena Vista Park are within short walking distance from the apartment. The de Young Museum, CA Academy of Sciences and Conservatory of Flowers are only a few of the San Francisco Highlights that are also within walking distance. There are also bike rental shops within a couple of blocks of the apartment.
There are also two markets very near by. Haight Street Market (two minute walk) is a wonderful local market. There is also a Whole Foods (five minute walk) on Haight. All of this and so much more all right outside my door. Walk two blocks to Cole St. and there is a totally different atmosphere a few minutes from my home. More bars, cafes and restaurants! Just a little more upscale. There are also more beautiful Victorian homes that line Cole Street.
You will have a shelf in the refrigerator to store your food. You are more than welcome to prepare your meals in the kitchen.
I go to massage therapy school three days a week, and besides that, I don’t keep a set schedule. I am a bit of a night owl, but am respectful of noise, and I just ask that you try and do the same. Thanks for reading, and have a great stay in SF!
Please try and remember to take your shoes off after entering the house. Haight St is cool, but dirty on the shoes. Smoking cigarettes is permitted directly outside in the yard or in the front of the building. 420 is okay to smoke inside/outside. Please clean up after yourself in the common areas. No guests unless previously arranged. Thanks, and have a great time!
My host never met me--she let me use her room, so vacated the premises. There was another guest who stayed in the guest room. She communicated by very frequent text messages.
I felt very welcomed by Mary Jo. Her apartment is in a great location but also with great bus access to many other parts of town. She had lots of suggestions on the best things to see and do in SF, especially with regard to the arts, and detailed directions on how to get there. I had a great time.
Had a great stay at MJ's place in the Haight. The location is amazing - you walk out the door and everything is there, from hippies, to the Golden Gate Park to incredible munchies. Particularly enjoyed spending time with Sam the Cat aka your new best friend for your entire stay. Room was spacious, comfortable and the house was full of amenities. The walls can be a little thin but there is always the backyard to chill in for extra peace. MJ herself was so kind and considerate, even gave me a little gift when I left! She is an awesome communicator as well. Would absolutely recommend to others.
This place is great and Mary Jo is so nice. I reserved at the last moment and it wasn't a problem for Mary Jo, thanks to her. Her home is clean, tidy and well organized, it really fell like a place where you'll like to live. The apartment is very well placed, Golden gate park and the famous Amoeba music store is at 5 min walk from there and there is a bus at the door to go downtown directly in 15 minutes.
Mary Jo is a wonderful person, very friendly, we had great talk, that was great but she also knows how to be discrete and preserve the privacy of each. Her garden is really pleasant in the morning with a cup of tea offer by the host. High five to Sam the cat who is an absolute legend =^..^= . Definitely somewhere to go if you what to discover the city as I did and meet someone awesome.
Mary Jo's home was a great introduction to the Haight Ashbury area. Close to all the action and public transport. My stay coincided with a huge music festival in the Golden Gate Park which Mary Jo attended with friends so I had the flat to myself for a lot of my stay, well, me and Sam the cat. The room was a little dark, I hadn't realised it was an inside room but the bed was comfortable. The walls are thin so I did learn more about the neighbours private lives than I wanted to but San Fransisco is all about living with close neighbours. The dudes building a temporary, professional skate ramp complex over the back fence were a surprise and I kind of wish my stay had been longer so I could have watched the competition from a box seat. Mary Jo's communication was great and she had been willing to fill me in on any touristy places I needed help with. If she was staying out, she always let me know. She had been travelling herself for two and a half months before I arrived so the flat was not quite up to her usual cleanliness standards she assured me but there was nothing too bad. I enjoyed my stay with Mary Jo and the whole suburb was a real experience. I enjoyed my time there and in the city in general. Thank you for making my stay in San Fransisco memorable. Cheers
Mary Jo herself was on holiday so can't comment there - her friend also staying at the place - Kelly - was lovely though. Offered to help with tours but I had lots planned. Arranged key pick-up with another friend who lived a block away.
Location wise - fantastic - just off the main Haight Street with plenty of everything - bars, cafes, shops etc. Regular buses to civic centre (71+6).
Room wise - nice and homely. Was initially perturbed by having a curtain rather than door but I settled in Ok. More of a sofa bed than actual bed, but proper mattress I think - quite comfy.
Having Sam the Cat sleep on the bed (2 out of 4 nights) was initially a worry but he was fine - usually just at the foot of the bed. He's the nicest cat I've ever met by far (not usually a cat person) a total softie. He even crawled into bed with me once which was strange but lovely and endearing!
Could hear neighbours a little but I was tired enough to sleep fine.
I stayed in Mary Jo's apartment at the end of August 2013, and although she wasn't there, her friend Kelly was a perfect host and provided me with all the information I required!
The room itself is very comfortable and spacious and although only a single bed is provided it was perfectly comfortable and provided all that I needed for my stay. The location of the apartment is fantastic with easy access to public transport to any part of SF! Haight-Ashbury is easy-going with a host of restaurants and great shops, and with easy access to Golden Gate Park it was ideal for a nature-lover like me!
Sam the Cat is an absolute delight! He slept on my bed a few nights without bothering me one bit. I hope to get back to SF one day soon - having such a cosy place to crash each night really made my holiday!
