Probably one of Bali's best kept secrets in the East of Bali.
Our pool is open to all guests - enjoy the cooling water and the amazing view of the rice fields at the same time.
Interaction with Guests
Every guest is treated as a friend with whom we would like to share all we know of Bali.
Kadek will treat you to home cooked Balinese meals or if you prefer he can prepare some amazing hamburgers!
Every one is either included in our daily life here (including impromptu parties) or left to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the East of Bali.
I speak English, Indonesian, German, Dutch and a little bit of French.
Besides extensive exploring of the rice fields right on our door step there are plenty of interesting places to visit in Karangasem.
Trek the many stairs of the Lempuyang temple, visit the cooling pools of Tirtagangga, step back in time in the Royal Palace in Amlapura or see how we shop for everything you can imagine in Amlapura.
A beautiful white sand beach is only short drive from our place or you might want to go snorkeling in Amed?
We can assist you with scooter rental or a driver with a car. For those more adventurous we can arrange a local "bemo" (mini bus).
Other Things to Note
Breakfast is included in the room rate and includes fresh home baked bread, home made jams and real butter!
We are trying to set an example in our area - please re-use your water bottles!
Smoking is permitted except in the bedrooms. Each bungalow has it's own private balcony where you may smoke.
Respect others and your environment!
The Kubu Carik is an utterly amazing place- I highly recommend it for a stay. When you pull up, you peek through the trees and wonder at what you see. But once you are on the property, the views are clear- you are looking down on the terraced rice paddies for an entire village. It's utterly beautiful and not far away- you can walk down into the fields in less than 4 minutes. It is immensely tranquil to be there (gourmet food, infinity pool, lovely cats and dogs, sheer beauty, the almost constant wind and perfect temperatures) but also very educational. We were able to take a walk through the fields and the village, to visit with a neighbor in their yard, take a cooking class, and participate in creating the decorations for a gigantic Hindu ceremony. And there were tons of other day-trips we could have taken- snorkeling in Amed, mountain biking, visit the local water temple and water palace, etc. We stayed for three days- we could haves easily stayed for a week. We had an AMAZING experience and it was our favorite place to stay in all of Bali (and we traveled all over). An especially big THANK YOU to Kadek, the chef/half-owner/manager for all the time and care you took of me and my daughters. You were generous with both your time and your tales- we learned so much from you. Thank you!
Claudia and Ketut are running a unique and very special experience at Kubu Carik. The environment is superb, with absolutely stunning views and peaceful surrounds. One feels a world away from the busy Bali that exists not far away.
The rooms are gorgeous with a charm and craft that is just delightful.
Claudia is a great host with a wealth of knowledge and insight. I think we spent the majority of our stay philosophising and enjoying long discussions over very lengthy breakfasts! Thank you Claudia!
And the food... Best I've had in Indonesia. Absolutely divine. Thank you Ketut!
A truly memorable place; we'll be back.
It was my best New Year celebration in Bali that I ever had. 4 nights 5 days wasn't enough for me...Kubu Carik is very amazing place, not because only the location but the owner (Claudia and Pak Kadek)..they are very kind and lovely persons. And there are 4 lovely dogs as well, Robin, Scoopy, Mojo and Macan...they are sooooo CUTE :) and friendly.
Hopefully I can see them all soon....
my family and I really enjoyed our stay at Kubu Carik. If you are looking for a hidden paradise in Bali, Kubu Carik is the right place to stay. Claudia and Kadek welcomed us as friends, not as guests. We shared stories and had endless conversations! We will definitely recommend the place to our friends.
It was a short stay in Kubu Carik, too short. Indeed it is a hidden paradise, the minute you entered the Garden, you found yourself drown in the infinite quiet, calm wonderland, surrounded by varieties of flowers and trees. Birds are singing, dogs running, butterflies, fireflies, they don't building a paradise artificially, but only settle in the surroundings. Felt asleep while there were local ceremonies going, while it won't raise any noise, this place brings you the great inner peace simply words can't express.
Woke up while moonlights spread on you, cocks were singing, the glimpse through the window is gorgeous. There are so much more I can write about Kubu Carik, i just love this place so much, i am writing this when I am on the airplane going back to China, I can't write more, because I am afraid I will get too emotional. I will definitely go back again, whether I am alone or with companies! I miss Claudia& Cadek, Robin, Kespi and Popcorn already. Nate (phone number hidden)
This is definitely the best guesthouse I've ever stayed in. Incredible view from the balcony of our room! Currently I am working in a Hotel (on Tripadvisor under the top 5 in Bali) and we can't even offer this stunning view! :D Kadek even picked us up from a point near to the guest house. One of the dogs "Robin" came with us to a little trekking through the rice paddies. He showed us the way back afterwards, without him we would have been lost there. = )
All in all, it was perfect! Thank you.
