Staying at Polwatte House was the perfect start to my trip of Sri Lanka. Ailsa is the most softspoken person you could ever meet and she and Andrew truly created an inviting environment to mingle with their family, friends and other guests. For the short time that I was there their beautiful home became my own and it was akin to sharing a mutual space with close friends. Could not have asked for a better first impression. I was quite reluctant to leave. Many thanks Ailsa and Andrew.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Polwatte house, especially traveling with a 11 month old baby. The house and the views are fantastic, the food absolutely delicious and everything, including the baby, was taken care of.
Thanks to Ailsa, her family and the girls we had a fantastic stay. We will be back for sure!
Ailsa and Andrew were really loving and extremely helpful hosts. Being there you feel like part if the family. The house is pretty and really clean although transport is needed to get there and back from Kandy. The view from the house is breath taking (but not for people who are scared of bugs or who need the city vibe). Andrew and Ailsa even let us borrow their cell phone and organized our sightseeing tours and helped us to get from there to Tangalle. Amazing people and lovely girls!
We LOVED staying at Polwatte House with Ailsa, Andrew and their family. The house is a beautiful colonial pad hidden away from the noise and pollution of central Kandy. The atmosphere of this family home is very friendly, open and relaxed. The rice & curry cooked by their housekeeper is amazing, a must eat! Both Ailsa and Andrew are able to offer suggestions and advice for traveling in Sri Lanka, what to see and where to go. We'll definitely be keeping in touch!
Absolutely fantastic. A very generous charming, hospitable family -Andrew, Alisa and their two young daughters, Eila and Fara- with a beautiful house in a delightful location. I wholely recommend staying with them.
We had a wonderful stay at Polwatte House. Alisa and Andrew where very kind and very helpful with all our requests. In that house you can feel a good clima, all the family is lovely and we even met Andrew´s parents who are also very nice. We loved the two kids, specially Fara who is soooo cute!!! I enjoyed playing with her...
The room is very nice and with a large bathroom. Internet is available in common areas and the garden is great with stunning views of the river. Another thing we liked is that we could enjoy real srilankan food and to share it with family, friends and other guest.
Polwatte is in Kundasale, far away form the hectic traffic of candy very poluted and noisy) so, we loved to be near candy but breathing good air. We will come back and we recommend it!
