Leafy, quiet area on the doorway to Conamara. Regarding value for money, this lovely double with ensuite WC is less expensive than 2 bunk-beds in a hostel! "A real home with real people!" Free parking. The house is a 41min. walk from Spanish Arch.
This price is for a "clean, quiet and peaceful" double bedroom with your own ensuite WC/shower, in our bright, "beautiful", "homey", "cosy" house. The price includes free pick-up on arrival in Galway, and a simple breakfast (cereal/juice /tea/coffee/toast). Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9:30 (before or after which you can self-serve).
***Please email at least 24 hours before your intended arrival date. Thank you!***
Potential guests who have no references on this site are asked to give me some information about themselves like surname/university/town before I can accept a booking, for safety reasons. Thank you.
The house is a 10-minute drive into Galway city. Or a 20 minute bus journey. A taxi costs €10. There are buses every 20 minutes (€1.90). It is a 35-minute walk to the centre.
This gorgeous "clean, quiet and peaceful" double bedroom with wooden floors and private WC/shower is LESS EXPENSIVE than sharing a 4-bed dorm in a Galway youth hostel. It is perfect for people with a car as there is free parking, or for people who don't mind taking buses or walking.
Real coffee and real olive oil! :-)
PARADISE FOR MUSIC/THEATRE/ART LOVERS!
We are a musical and artistic family who love hosting people and making your stay in Galway and Connemara as local an experience as possible. We can show you lots of cultural insider treats you would not find in guide books. We have one young child who is very visitor-friendly (very considerate and well house-trained :-)
We are located within a 15-minute walk of Salthill, with its lovely promenade and little sandy and stoney beaches, fine restaurants, pubs and even some good music. We are a 10-minute bus ride (off peak time) to the "city" centre (town is more like it :-) ). The house is in a quiet, leafy area tucked away from the main roads. No stunning scenery from the windows though!
The house is on 3 bus lines which will bring you to the town centre, via the university. There are buses/day trips from Galway to different parts of Conamara and the Islands. More details of best fares etc. by email.
WHAT MAKES OUR PLACE UNIQUE?
We love to host people, and we love to share our culture with people. If we are free we will bring you to see some cultural gems. Apart from Galway city, we have also lived in Conamara, and can give you invaluable hints if you plan to tour Conamara and/or the islands. Tell us what your interests are and we'll point you in the right direction.
And we have no TV! But we do have an open fire and some stories to share around it!
MY PRIVATE TOURS OF CONAMARA
If I am free while you're here, I can act as your personal tour guide, bringing you on a hiking trip to Conamara National Park or other destinations. You pay the same price as you would pay on a bus tour with another 30 tourists. It's only me and you on my tours! Please inquire before arrival. Brid shared her culture with us. Review: "We shared a magical day in Connemara, giving us an experience we wouldn't have had as tourists. We are very grateful and so happy with our stay with Brid."
We have hosted (website hidden) guests from more than 8 countries and have positive feedback from all of them. We have rented rooms to long-term guests from 5 different countries, again all happy campers! We would prefer bookings of more than one night. Children are welcome at no extra cost.
CHECK IN/CHECK OUT
Check-in (to your bedroom) is from 3pm (but you can check in to the house before that and leave your luggage/use bathroom etc, by prior arrangement). Check-out of bedroom 12 noon, and check-out of house is flexible.

We were very welcome when we arrived in Brid's house. Brid and her child are very friendly, we learned a new card game with them !! :)

Pointed out the different areas of Galway, drove and showed me the supermarkets, went jogging with me by the beach, made supper for no extra charge. She is just a very nice and down to earth person
Our stay w/ Brid was the very best. The room was very comfortable w/ its own bathroom. The neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful.
Brid est accueillante et chaleureuse, tout comme sa maison et la chambre dans laquelle nous avons séjourné. Merci.
Perfect place for a couple with car. The house is at 5 min of the town center and ~1h30 of connemara. We spent 4 days with Brid, she was very welcoming, she respected our privacy and she gave us good tips for having a nice trip. For french people : she speak a little french !
Brid was a great host with a beautiful home, it was a pleasure meeting her and having breakfast each morning we were there, she gave us some great tips on things to see in Galway. Highly recommended for anyone traveling in Galway, location is very close to a bus route to the downtown area, and a nice walk to the Salthill promenade. If we ever return to the area (fingers crossed), we would stay there in a heartbeat. Thanks again.

Brid was a wonderful, gracious host. The house was beautiful and the room very comfortable and private. It's located very close to a bus stop with a few minutes access to central Galway. I had a great time there and would definitely stay there again!!

I am a translator and language teacher and also a musician. I love music, dancing and sharing stories. I have traveled widely and lived in 6 countries. I love to get the local experience when I travel, and that's what is special about staying in my home - you will get to meet the locals when you stay with us!
