The space
A fresh and clean pretty place with a beautiful view and your own private river frontage!
Welcome! We look forward to hosting you here in the Wimberley Valley where the air is clean, and the river is beautiful. This home is located in the lower section of Cedar Oak Mesa near the river parks. Launch our kayaks via your private ramp and patio at the water's edge across from the house. See our photos! We do have plenty of water!
Ask me about our very deep snowbird discount for January and/or February!
Our guests sometimes have little ones who want to wade in the shallow brook at one of our parks. Both river parks are just minutes away by foot or car. We provide a key to both parks and a wagon to get supplies to your private river frontage in front of the house. You can also take your group in your vehicle and drive into the parks. Literally less than one minute by car to either car gate; less than a five-minute walk.
One of our four bedrooms is actually a large loft. You'll want this room because it has its own AC and the best view in the house!
You'll have Soft and FILTERED drinking water to every tap. There's no need to pick up bottled water! Also, a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer. There's a refrigerator downstairs in the storage area where the ping pong table and pool table are so you can put cold drinks in it and an extra bag of ice. This area under the house is not air-conditioned or heated space. It also holds all the large toys. Be sure you bring bags of ice for upstairs as well as downstairs if your group uses a lot of ice. Bring river shoes and river towels and lots of sunblock!
Enjoy our fast Wifi, and log into your streaming accounts.
We have a drip coffee maker with filters and a Keurig. We provide the coffee. Bring your favorite cream.
There's a propane grill and a charcoal BBQ pit. Bring your own charcoal and lighter.
This house sleeps eight comfortably. We provide all sheets and towels for these eight guests. There are four queen-size beds in four separate bedrooms; one of these is in the loft. Nobody can see up into the loft, but the loft occupants may be able to hear noise from the kitchen or downstairs.
You may bring blowup mattresses or sleeping bags for extra people for a total of up to 10. Guests need to supply the blowups and linens for any blowups you bring. We do have extra pillows. We can easily add the guests for you because we do charge when you bring over 8 guests.
We welcome your sweet dog for a pet fee of $58 per stay, per dog - up to two dogs. Please contact us if you want to include a third dog. We reserve the right to charge extra for any pet hair in our duvets, and, please, NO PETS IN OUR BEDS.
All dogs must be on a leash while outside, and the dog gate kept up inside the house, at the bottom of the stairs to keep them off the carpet in the loft. It zip ties to the stair handrail. We do not allow puppies under one year old. Dogs must be crated if left alone in the house while you're out and about, and please keep them off the bedding and furniture.
Kayaks (3 adult) (2 junior - up to 130 lbs) and inner tubes are provided at no charge. PLEASE DON'T DRAG OUR KAYAKS AND TUBES. It burns holes in them. We also have many life jackets, all sizes. Let us help you if you can't find what you need. BRING river shoes for the parks.
THIS HOME IS NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. There is a flight of stairs to enter the front door, which is actually in back of the house next to the driveway. This house has been elevated above the proposed flood plain elevations and therefore under the house is not heated and cooled.
Fish, swim, kayak, and float in the beautiful Blanco River, BUT NO DIVING IN THE RIVER, PLEASE. ADVISE YOUR GROUP AND WATCH YOUR KIDS.
Thank you for your consideration. I love my guests and consider it a privilege to host you.
PLEASE RING MY TELEPHONE IF YOU NEED SOMETHING AND I HAVENT ANSWERED YOU IN THE MESSAGE THREAD.
Thank you.

We're 3 1/2 miles to downtown Wimberley; four miles to Market Days, which is the first Saturday of every month. Don't miss this!
You'll have access to your own private river frontage, kayak ramp, and kayaks. You'll have a patio exclusively for your group at the water's edge. In addition to our frontage, there are two river parks, one shallow for the littles and one deeper with a rope swing.
We provide a key to two neighborhood parks that are a two-to three-minute walk in either direction of Laura's River Lodge. One of these parks is so neat because it's shallow and flows and is fun for the kids! With our tubes, parents can let children float downstream to the other parent. Kids love this!
We don't own the rope swing, but it's across the river and sure is a lot of fun. It's located in the large park (east of the Lodge). You can see people enjoying this swing from Laura's River Lodge. People can take their tube or kayak over there. Be sure to get your life jacket on before swimming over there.
The other smaller park is in the other direction on Edgewater Drive (west of the Lodge). Both river parks are within walking distance, and you can also drive in. They both require a key to enter, which we provide; see our map and photo in the notebook onsite.
These parks are perfect for hiking and discovering million-year-old crustaceans and other fascinating features. You'll be walking where the river once flowed mightily. The larger park has concrete steps at the far east end of the park where you can walk into the river, right into shallow water. t's great for small kids and the elderly who want to get in the river easily. This is a fascinating area of the river park because you can see where the years of water flow have carved out the riverbed.
We have a small neighborhood pool, as part of our HOA. The key we give you for the river park gates is the same to get into the pool. The pool is only open June, July and to August. Go back to the stop sign at Edgewater Drive and River Road and turn left. Make your next right up the hill on Campfire Way into the subdivision. Drive until you see the black fence. Use your key.
The reason for no water or ice in the fridge is because of guest abuse. We finally gave up on trying to provide this for our guests and ask that you bring in a bag of ice and put it in the freezer below the fridge and Use Our Filtered Water, Which Is Available At Every Faucet.

By accepting this reservation, you are agreeing that you and your family and your guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from the use of the owner's property and these premises.
We do advise no diving or even jumping in the river until you are familiar with it. You can Kayak and swim and have a great time!! You can walk right in off the kayak ramp where it immediately becomes deeper.
We're on a septic system. Please do not flush any feminine products or non-degradable items down the toilet, or huge amounts of toilet paper at one time. It's very important to use only toilet paper! Please go over this in a quick meeting with all your group present at the beginning of your stay.
We also have whole house water softeners for our homes and guests. Because of this, our washing machines require less laundry detergent. Please add no more than 1 tablespoon per laundry load.
Dispose of kitchen grease in the kitchen trash when cool. PLEASE ADVISE EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP who will be cooking. Do not, under any circumstances, put it down the drain.

If this property isn't available for your dates, we have a brand-new house (completed 2024), "Ramsay's Happy Place," that is right around the corner, and those guests get to use the Ramsay's private riverfront property, (not the same as the Lodge, but the next patio) which has what's called a deep-water hole. It has a patio with ladder and is the closest private property to the rope swing and adjoins the 5-acre park that you'll also have access to.

From the host
Our neighborhood started out from humble beginnings with various sorts of architecture in the area. That was more than 48 years ago. It was attractive to people from larger cities who could purchase a lot and bring their campers and tents out for some rest and relaxation to the gorgeous Blanco River. They came with motorhomes and campers to swim in the emerald green water. This is a beautiful, fun area where guests can enjoy some privately owned river frontage and also use our beloved waterfront parks down here on The Blanco. Come kayak, swim, fish and enjoy nature. We're three point two miles to downtown Wimberley. We really love it out here, and so will you!
