We are locate about 1.5 miles from the University of Puget Sound, 10 minutes to downtown Tacoma. We are close to Proctor District - Starbucks, Metropolitan Market, Restaurants and Ruston Way Waterfront & eating establishments. Day trips to Seattle are a breeze - great express bus from Tacoma Dome.
Upstairs bedroom with an antique sleigh double bed and lovely light. The bath is directly next to the bedroom and is yours and yours alone. Bed is very comfortable. There is dresser space and hanging space in the closet.
We welcome you into our home. Your privacy is just as important to us as ours. Our garden is a lovely spot for a glass of wine & conversation in the summer or a game of croquet. An extra fridge in the basement is available to you.
Interaction with Guests
We look forward to meeting you and making sure your stay is comfortable. You are welcome to play the piano. During your stay we offer a simple breakfast - Bill loves to make waffles! The house has Wifi and entertainment is provided by our two Bichons, Charlie and Buttons. They are non-allergic dogs. Because of Charlie and Buttons, we cannot accept guest pets.
Our neighborhood is quiet, safe and close to the best of Tacoma. Parking in front of the house is not a problem. We have great neighbors and love being able to bike to Point Defiance or take walks to the Proctor Saturday Farmer's Market. There are good, reasonable restaurants in Proctor and the waterfront Restaurants offer spectacular views.
We are close to a bus stop which goes directly downtown. There is free parking at the Tacoma Dome - there are express busses to the airport, downtown Seattle, or the University District. It is simple and beats driving. We do it all the time. Commuter trains run early morning and evening.

Beautiful people. Beautiful house. I can't say enough good things about Bill and Josie. They are warm, lovely, kind people. I think anyone would feel welcome at this home. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is decadent. I wish I could have stayed longer!
We had a good night's sleep on comfortable bed. Josie prepared a great omelet. A short stay with two Bichons Buttons and Charlie who are very friendly.
Thank you for hosting us once again! Excellent place to stay, close to UPS, warm hosts, friendly little dogs, and delicious waffles!
Josie and Bill were absolutely wonderful hosts. The home was beautiful and the room exactly as described. All of my expectations were met or exceeded. Josie and Bill are very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Josie even made me some warm milk with eggnog and cinnamon after my long flight. She made me warm milk, you guys... it doesn't get much better than that! They were great about letting me come and go as I pleased and even invited me to use one of their bikes. Great couple and a wonderful place to stay!
I cannot imagine a better AirBnB experience in Tacoma, both with respect to the comfortable and well-appointed accommodation and the kindness and warmth of the hosts. The description in the listing is accurate, but to get the full flavor, imagine further the very comfortable mattress on the charming, sturdy, historical sleigh bed, in a cozy, light-filled upstairs bedroom, with a roomy closet, bedside light, marble-topped dressers (one with a mirror), a large and colorful painting on the wall near the bed (painted by your host, a well-known and successful Washington artist), with other interesting paintings and prints on the wall and a crystal container filled with M&M's! Next to this bedroom is an immaculate large bathroom dedicated to your use, with a heated (!) rack for fluffy towels, hooks on the door and marble-topped vanity for your toiletries, towels and robe. Best of all is a very large full bathtub, surrounded by a circular fabric and waterproofed shower curtain that draws snugly tight, keeping you warm before or after the shower, which you will enjoy with wonderfully firm water pressure, a European-style fixture that includes a hand-held application if you wish it, or which can remain up above, cascading refreshing and plentiful hot water, while you lather up with host-supplied fragrant soap, shampoo and conditioner. After your comfortable sleep and restorative shower, you head downstairs on hard wood floors, to a magnificent breakfast, which could include Josie's expertly made cheese souffles, muffins with creamy butter, Bill's oatmeal with carefully selected dry fruits and nuts or his whole wheat pancakes. orange juice (not from concentrate) and Northwest-worthy piping hot coffee. Your well-informed hosts (Josie is a former head arts administrator for the City of Tacoma) can provide you with great tips for the latest ethnic and seafood restaurants in the nearby Proctor district or elsewhere in Tacoma, advice on public transport into Seattle or gently engage you in whatever conversation you might like, on topics as broad-ranging as literature, travel, art, music, football or funny stories regarding friends and relations. WiFi and computer access is available, as is a charming library/sitting room, a family room with piano and everywhere, Bill's striking and memorable artwork. You will also be greeted by two friendly and lovable Bichon Frise dogs, the ebullient Charlie and the more dignified Buttons, who, after an expected excited hello, will settle right down to interact with or merely observe you, as you may choose to respond. I also very much appreciated Bill and Josie's prompt responses to any questions prior to my arrival, accommodating my late arrival from my flight from Philadelphia, and supplying a key for easy access back home, even after late nights visiting my son. For any parent needing a place to stay near the University of Puget Sound or Pacific Lutheran or U W Tacoma, anyone visiting relatives in the area, or tourists making the South Sound a base, I can recommend Bill and Josie's reasonably-priced and very welcoming AirBnB listing without any hesitation.
Josie and Bill were beyond terrific. I am ever so grateful to them for providing an impeccably pristine room, and very last minute, stay. Their above and beyond warm welcome, after a long drive to Washington and later arrival made for a peaceful, restful night. My stay was a quick overnight, heading east the next day. Lovely, lovely people and home.
It was a pleasure staying with Bill and Josie. They were both very welcoming and accommodating. It was a very comfortable stay and I highly recommend them as hosts. I look forward to visiting again soon!
