Dream in Red on Alamo Square

Apartment - Shared room · Hayes Street, San Francisco, CA 94117, United States

The Space

Do you need a cozy place to rest after exploring this magical city? I have the perfect couch! Its super comfortable and wide, situated in my traditional Victorian living room, with fairly little light (dark and cozy makes for epic sleep). The apartment dons the traditional Victorian amenities: claw-foot tub, roof access, high ceilings, and wood floors; and the atypical ones: every flavor of tea your taste buds might desire, essential oils & salts for your bath, a well-stocked bookshelf, yoga mats, and an in-house massage therapist!

The neighborhood provides a map of cuisines, wine bars and dive bars, yoga studios and mixed martial arts gym, organic markets, Sunday farmer's market, and best of all - Alamo Square Park directly across the street (Painted Ladies / Full House). 3 Bus lines run within 1-3 blocks and you can go any direction quite easily. Upper and Lower Haight, Castro, Mission, Pac Hghts, and Hays Valley are all a short walking distance away.

Check In
  • I am very glad I chose Karen'place for my stay in San Francisco. Alamo Square is quiet and the flat was pleasant. I was welcome and the location was ideal for my need. There is a direct bus line (21) to the Embarcadero that is very convenient.

  • Karen is the best host ever. I simply do not have enough words to describe her kindness and the thoughtfulness. Connected well with her friends too. Karen rocks..

  • Karen is an AMAZING person! One of the nicest people I've ever met. I enjoyed my stay at her place very much! Karen's apartment is super clean, nice, and located in a very beautiful area of SF. Totally recommend :-)

  • Karen was a warm, fun and respectful host and my stay here was really great. The location of her apartment made me fall in love with SF again, as I could walk out her door and be a block away from Divisadero, which is lined with restaurants, markets and cafes. It was perfect for what I needed!

  • Nice place and host. Couch is in the lounge and close to the kitchen, but I had no problem with that.

  • My experience staying with Karen was perfect. Even though I was essentially in the living room, I always had private/quiet time when I needed. In terms of the location, admitting my bias as I used to live very close to here five years ago, it is fantastic: close to wonderful restaurants, coffee shops, etc. if you don't feel like walking far - and also super convenient to any public transportation you may need to get to another area of the city. I also rented a car, and found street parking to be a lot less difficult than I anticipated (you just have to pay attention to the signs).

Karen is a very thoughtful, respectful, kind host. She offered me an umbrella to use (which I was SOOOO grateful for!) and lent me her iPod charger to charge my phone. These are small things, but they make a huge difference when you're staying somewhere without all the things you really need.

Essentially, my stay was easeful, fun, and everything I could have wanted.

  • Karen was welcoming and accomodating for my arrival/departure times. The place has a great vibe, is clean and in a wonderful location for exploring the city. I stayed here in my transition to move to the city and am SO glad I did. Ziryab down the street was a delish food option too.

Aloha Travelers! I'm a San Francisco transplant, originally from Chicago, with a piece of my heart forever in Hawaii. I'm a massage therapist / bodyworker who loves all things human. I work from my home so most days the atmosphere is mellow and quiet - my space is ideal for people who will spend their days out exploring the city. My favorite things are live comedy & jazz, yoga, intelligent conversation, vegetarian cooking, fresh flowers, thrift stores, traveling, and hot water. I've lived in the city for 4 years and I love to send people on excursions, share my favorite gems in each neighborhood, and swap stories. I'm a pretty even balance of urban indulgent and crunchy nature lover - and can recommend happiness for whichever direction you tend to sway. Please feel free to ask any questions you have before reserving the space!
