Other Things to Note
I love sharing my cabin on Airbnb and just ask that guests treat it like it's their own. A few details to note:
The house usually has condiments such as ketchup, mustard, syrup, flower, sugar, salt and pepper. Coffee filters are v shape.
We do not stock up on firewood so please buy some at the store in town before your arrival if you wish to light a fire. I recommend also buying a fire starter and newspaper to get the fire going.
A shovel is located in the front entryway for snow removal as well as a brush to wipe snow off of your car. Please return these to the closet when finished for the next guest.
We do have plow service for the driveway and shovel service after a big snow storm.
The cabin was built in 1968(!) and the central heating doesn't quite do the job. Space heaters are available in each room for extra warmth. The bedding is very cozy and comfortable for winter months.
The house is 3 levels, with stairs leading to the bedrooms (both the 3 main and 1 bonus). The cabin is approximately 1,800 square feet.
1. NO pets and NO smoking. Thank you!
2. People other than those in the Tenant party may not stay overnight in the property.
3. Keep the property and all furnishings and appliances in good order.
4. Parking: Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only.
5. Housekeeping: While linens and bath towels are included in the House, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate.
6. Hot Tub: Use at your own risk. The hot tub is cleaned prior to Tenants arrival and the cost is included in your cleaning fee. Remember when not using the hot tub, leave cover on so hot tub will stay warm. Do not change the temperature of the hot tub please.
7. Fireplace: Only wood and paper may be burned in the fireplace. NEVER LEAVE A FIRE UNATTENDED.
8. Water and Electricity: The water from the tap is some of the best in the world so it is safe to drink. The house is located in the mountains and the electricity can be fussy especially during a storm. It’s not uncommon to loose power in a winter storm so always be prepared.
9. Garbage: All garbage must be put in the bear box out front and secured. No trash may be left outside, unsecured for any reason or you will be charged a $50 (min.) fee for clean up. This includes cigarette butts and any trash found in the snow. Excess garbage that does not fit in the bear box must be properly bagged up in garbage bags, tied and left in the front entry mud-room.
10. Check in/Check out: Check in is 3pm. Check out is 10am. NO EARLY or LATE arrivals or departures. All belongings must be out of the house and the house must be left in good order. The Tenant shall return the key to the front lock box.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Elena's cabin is perfectly located a 5 minute walk from Sunnyside, and a quick drive to Tahoe City. The cabin is cozy and comfortable and has all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. We enjoyed cooking dinner in the spacious kitchen and highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a combination of convenience and comfort.
Elena's home was really lovely. It's conveniently located right next to Sunnyside and Fire Sign Cafe (two of the best spots to eat in Tahoe), right down the street from Tahoe City village, and about 15 min from Squaw. The jacuzzi was fantastic, and the cabin was comfortable and cozy.
Elana's cabin was perfect! It is exactly as described (cute and comfortable). The kitchen was well outfitted and it was easy to cook anything with the supplies that were provided. The bedrooms were comfortably furnished and we call commented that we got the best sleep that we had had in ages. The hot tub was clean and ready to go when we arrived. I genuinely could not have asked for more. Elena, thanks for hosting us!
Elena's cabin was perfect for our group of 8 over New Year's. The location was exactly what we needed and very convenient for those who wanted to ski Alpine and Squaw. Elena was super responsive and easier to communicate with. We have already talked about wanting to rent this cabin again in the future!
Elena was a great host, communicative from the very start, months prior to our actual stay. When we finally checked in and experienced problems with the hot water in the upstairs bathroom, Elena was very apologetic, and got someone out to repair the problem right away. Also one of the two sinks upstairs had no hot water running at all. We had a few more instances of hot water shortage thereafter, but the problem seemed to be mostly resolved and we were able to enjoy hot showers after skiing all day.
The house was very comfortable, as described, mostly up to date, although the heating system was not great. The upstairs bedrooms (and especially the upstairs bathroom) would get extremely warm and we had to crack the windows a bit, while the mid-level living area was comfortable, and the downstairs "bonus room" was frigid. There are space heaters provided, but only one humidifier, and we felt there should be one in each bedroom. Otherwise the house was well stocked with everything we needed, including shampoo and soap, as well as spices and condiments probably left from previous guests. Lots of pillows, blankets and throws too! The large screen TV was well positioned in the comfie living area for evening enjoyment. The fireplace was great, once we discovered the flu needed to be opened (this was suggested in the owner's notes to us, but since we were offline we couldn't access the notes, we managed to smoke up the house before realizing this!)
Unfortunately the wifi system never stayed connected, we had to constantly connect with an ethernet cord, and if my geek brother hadn't been with us we would have remained offline the entire stay. When I mentioned this to Elena she suggested we turn on/off the router to reset it, but honestly this never worked, and my brother seems to think a new router may be in order.
Location of the house was good, near Squaw and Alpine Meadows, and close to the lake and town center, and easy to find off the main road. There is no garage, but the mud room at the entrance was perfect for keeping boots and helmets warm overnight.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciate the care Elena shows and her commitment to making our stay comfortable.
Elena’s house is an amazing escape, a beautiful house nestled in the quaint little town of Tahoe City. I highly recommend her beautiful rustic cabin. The pictures are extremely accurate and everything worked perfectly. And even though I’m a moron and left my iPad under the bed, Elena was kind enough to FedEx it immediately. Great house. Great Host.
