Other Things to Note
I love sharing my cabin on Airbnb and just ask that guests treat it like it's their own. A few details to note:
The house usually has condiments such as ketchup, mustard, syrup, flower, sugar, salt and pepper. Coffee filters are v shape.
We do not stock up on firewood so please buy some at the store in town before your arrival if you wish to light a fire. I recommend also buying a fire starter and newspaper to get the fire going.
A shovel is located in the front entryway for snow removal as well as a brush to wipe snow off of your car. Please return these to the closet when finished for the next guest.
We do have plow service for the driveway and shovel service after a big snow storm.
The cabin was built in 1968(!) and the central heating doesn't quite do the job. Space heaters are available in each room for extra warmth. The bedding is very cozy and comfortable for winter months.
The house is 3 levels, with stairs leading to the bedrooms (both the 3 main and 1 bonus). The cabin is approximately 1,800 square feet.
1. NO pets and NO smoking. Thank you!
2. People other than those in the Tenant party may not stay overnight in the property.
3. Keep the property and all furnishings and appliances in good order.
4. Parking: Vehicles are to be parked in designated parking areas only.
5. Housekeeping: While linens and bath towels are included in the House, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate.
6. Hot Tub: Use at your own risk. The hot tub is cleaned prior to Tenants arrival and the cost is included in your cleaning fee. Remember when not using the hot tub, leave cover on so hot tub will stay warm. Do not change the temperature of the hot tub please.
7. Fireplace: Only wood and paper may be burned in the fireplace. NEVER LEAVE A FIRE UNATTENDED.
8. Water and Electricity: The water from the tap is some of the best in the world so it is safe to drink. The house is located in the mountains and the electricity can be fussy especially during a storm. It’s not uncommon to loose power in a winter storm so always be prepared.
9. Garbage: All garbage must be put in the bear box out front and secured. No trash may be left outside, unsecured for any reason or you will be charged a $50 (min.) fee for clean up. This includes cigarette butts and any trash found in the snow. Excess garbage that does not fit in the bear box must be properly bagged up in garbage bags, tied and left in the front entry mud-room.
10. Check in/Check out: Check in is 3pm. Check out is 10am. NO EARLY or LATE arrivals or departures. All belongings must be out of the house and the house must be left in good order. The Tenant shall return the key to the front lock box.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
This house is great - conveniently located with plenty of space and a great hot tub/campfire setting!
Our family of four stayed recently at Elena’s cabin – and we enjoyed it overall.
The number one feature of this house is the location. It is just south of Tahoe City and is adjacent to The Tahoe Trailways Bike Path – a 15 mile paved trail system designed for biking and walking. Just to the North about a few minutes’ walk along the trail, there is an enclave of restaurants, a small marina with rentals, West Shore Sports (for bike rentals), and the recently remodeled West Shore Market and Deli (which is amazing). The downside of this location is that it is just one house away from West Lake Blvd and you can hear the din of road traffic from an open window inside the cabin or outside on one of the many decks. Our opinion is that the great location makes up for the road noise, but it may bother some people.
The cabin itself has a very charming, old-Tahoe feel. The kitchen and bathrooms have been modernized, which makes the place more comfortable and useful. There is one exception ¬– the lighting in the master bath over the vanity is insufficient. Luckily, the downstairs bathroom does not have this problem, so it was an easy workaround. The cabin was clean and tidy upon arrival, but is showing some signs of wear and tear, which could easily be remedied by one day of a handyman’s time and a deep cleaning.
The beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of fresh linens and towels. The kitchen is fairly well stocked, although some of the pots and pans and cooking utensils have seen better days. The main living area is nice, with a grand fireplace. The large flat panel TV is perfectly located for watching movies. And, if you have older kids like we do, then you will appreciate the rock-solid WiFi connection :) We like to stream movies off an iPad to the TV when we travel, and it worked very well both upstairs and downstairs with no latency problems.
The surrounding area outside of the cabin is not so charming. The backyard is very exposed to the neighbors with no fences except for one neighbor to the rear. Unfortunately, this is where the hot tub is featured – on the center of the back deck. And, the owners have parked a utility trailer (presumably to store their things) right next to the back deck. If they pulled it up along the side of the house, it would be out of sight. There is a cool fire pit, but you can’t use it due to no-burn restrictions.
That aside there is a new Weber gas grill, and enough amenities to make you feel right at home. Elena was very responsive and easy to work with. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Great West Shore location
Updated kitchen and bathrooms
Rock solid WiFi
Normal wear and tear
Exposed back yard
No decent views
Elena was very responsive and welcoming. She answered questions in a timely manner and provided good information. The cabin was clean and very nice. Closet to Tahoe City as well as hiking and beaches.
We are not accustom traffic noise and the hot weather during our stay nessitated open bedroom windows and as a result traffic noise from the near by road. Our family enjoyed our time in Tahoe and our stay at Elena's cabin.
Elena's cabin is perfectly located a 5 minute walk from Sunnyside, and a quick drive to Tahoe City. The cabin is cozy and comfortable and has all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. We enjoyed cooking dinner in the spacious kitchen and highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for a combination of convenience and comfort.
Elena's home was really lovely. It's conveniently located right next to Sunnyside and Fire Sign Cafe (two of the best spots to eat in Tahoe), right down the street from Tahoe City village, and about 15 min from Squaw. The jacuzzi was fantastic, and the cabin was comfortable and cozy.
This cabin was perfect! Great location and if you have little ones, it's fully stocked with highchair, crib and toys. The location is very central for squaw and the convenience of Tahoe City for restaurants and groceries. We loved it!
Elana's cabin was perfect! It is exactly as described (cute and comfortable). The kitchen was well outfitted and it was easy to cook anything with the supplies that were provided. The bedrooms were comfortably furnished and we call commented that we got the best sleep that we had had in ages. The hot tub was clean and ready to go when we arrived. I genuinely could not have asked for more. Elena, thanks for hosting us!
