Known since the '70's as the "Dragon's Eye" and more recently as the "Green Dragon" this property has turn of the century charm with lots of interesting architectural details and Berkeley character.
The 1-bedroom, goldfinch cottage in back sleeps 2-4 people, has a kitchen, living room, full bath, 2 small decks, and lots of warmth. It is ideal for 1-2 adults or a couple with 1-2 kids. The bedroom has a queen size bed. There is a foldout couch in the living room that can fit 1 adult or 2 kids. The cottage has radiant heat under the floor, cable TV, wifi, and laundry facilities.
Depending on the time of year, there may be plums, figs, strawberries, raspberries, or other delights growing in the garden and waiting to be eaten. Oh and hummingbirds!
Perfectly situated in central Berkeley, we are a 6-7 minute walk to BART, downtown Berkeley, Trader Joe's, movies, BAM/PFA, and many multiple star restaurants Comal, Gather, Ippiku, Corso, to name a few.
The Goldfinch Cabin is like a mini-haven tucked away on a quiet street just steps away from fun parts of Berkeley.
We had such a lovely time here - it's impeccably clean, has all the things you need to prepare meals with or morning coffee and truly feels like a vacation cabin. I left feeling so recharged.
One of the best places I have booked on Airbnb. Anne, Chris and their daughter Johanna are super nice people and their cabin is amazing and well equipped with everything one would need. The location is also perfect - close to BART, Grocery stores, and Downtown Berkeley restaurants. The hosts were super attentive , hospitable and considerate throughout our stay. We never had ANY problems during the time we spent there. I highly and strongly recommend this place!!!
My husband and I stayed in Anne and Chris' cabin for about 6 weeks while my husband was doing research at UC Berkeley. The cabin is charming and perfect for a couple, with lots of light and a well-equipped kitchen. The surrounding yard on which the cabin sits is also charming, with lots of fruit trees. It's a quick walk to Berkeley's campus, Downtown Berkeley, and the BART. We didn't have a car and didn't need one. Anne and Chris were very helpful and friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the place!
This was one of my favorite places to stay by far. The cottage is charming, extremely clean, well-equipped (for short or long stays), and a great size for one person or a couple with a small child.
Book this cabin in Berkeley if you can. Charming, cute and colorful. Comfortable, clean, and fresh with new, spotless kitchen appliances. Comfortable bed, clean linens. Quiet location, but near downtown Berkeley and the BART station. Thoughtful hosts who provided the little things as well. I could go on and on. Try it for yourself!
Quintessential Berkeley! Clean and cozy, the Goldfinch Cabin is a super sweet little cottage with great light, cheerful colors and simple, comfortable design, located smack dab in the center of Berkeley. Lovely little decorative touches and a well maintained garden setting give it a home-away-from-home feel. Anne and Chris thought of everything in outfitting the place and were warm, friendly and accommodating hosts. We stayed there with our two sons (3.5 years and 3.5 months) and it was a little tight but soooo much nicer and easier than staying in a hotel. I would definitely stay there again!
Anne and Chris are really special people, generous and great hosts! My first contact with USA people and I have to say that they are extraordinary. They live near the cabine, in another homely warm house, with their daughter, so that they have been there when needed. Now and then they have been so helpful in many ways, and made our first stay in Berkeley a truly unforgettable experience. They were warm and welcoming even before arriving, and when I arrived I couldn’t believe the care and love with which they had prepared the cabine, plenty of thoughtful details, just perfect.
The Goldfinch cabine provides a great option in Berkeley. I have been there for one month and I can verify that this is an excellent location for access to UCB, grocery stores, cinemas and restaurants, all within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet, beautiful and perfect for walking. It is also well connected with the BART. I'd recommend the cabine to anyone.
I have had an amazing time at the cabine, and having dinner together and talking about eddies. Thank you for sharing your time with us!!
