  • I want to thank Nieves so much for the unforgettable stay in her beautiful house.
From the very first moment I felt really home in the rented room and in all other parts of the house. Not only Nieves but also her son and his family gave me a very warm welcome and directly integrated me in their family! Furthermore, Nieves helped me with my trip from the airport to her house and she always had a great answer to all my questions. Nieves is a lovely, helpful and very open minded woman, who is furthermore an excellent cook. She always offered me to try her delicious dishes...
Some more information about the room, the house and the area: I promise you, the room is even greater than it is shown on the pictures. You will have your own bathroom, your own dressing room and there is even a fireplace in the room! It is such a cozy place to stay in. Nieves house is very clean and you really have everything you need. The house is located in a safe area of the city and you are very close to the tram station.
All in all, I had a great stay at Nieves house and I would recommend everyone to book this room, if you want to have a great start in Quito and I cozy and comfortable place to live in.
I´m going to miss Nieves and her family a lot!

  • Nieves' home is located in a good part of Quito. I enjoyed the ecovia stop being less than a block away, and there is a good grocery store about 3 blocks away. I also really enjoyed running in Parque La Carolina, a really large and beautiful park that is about a 6 minute walk from Nieves' home. Nieves herself is a very attentive hostess but she is also very respectful of personal space. She was very good about only speaking Spanish with me when I told her I wanted to practice (although her English is excellent). She was very easy to live with and I also enjoyed meeting her son and spending a little time with her grandson who is adorable. Nieves even bought me roses for my birthday, which was very sweet. The room is spacious and comfortable. The shower is maybe not ideal for taller people (I'm 6' tall). I had to kneel down if I wanted the water to actually hit my head. I also hit my head on the lower ceilings and light fixtures - but this happens to me in many places in Latin America!

  • Our family moved to Ecuador because my husband is working in Quito for a couple of years. We stayed at Nieves' house for our first three weeks and rented two rooms. It was a perfect stay. Everything was perfectly prepared. Lots of space, nicely decorated with a well-equipped kitchen. Centrally located, still amazingly quiet. Too bad that we did not meet Nieves in person because she was on vacation. However, even then, she was really helpful via e-mail. And her son with his family lives next door. They did everything to support us, answered our questions, helped us and gave us great advice where to go or where to buy things. Thank you very, very much. This was a great first encounter with Ecuador and its friendly people.

We used airbnb for the first time and we were very satisfied. Everything was easy and not complicated at all.

  • Nieves is a wonderful, gracious host! I appreciated the thoughtful suggestions/tips she offered during my stay. Her home is beautiful and in a great location (access to public transportation, great restaurants and services).

Reccomend Miele for breakfast (cozy, chic cafe up Orellana, near Hotel Quito).

I look forward to staying here the next time I am in Quito!

  • Nieves was absolutely wonderful. The best host ever. And a caring person. I consider her now a friend. Her family is beautiful, the house is amazing and the location is walking distance from the best hotels, the center, the malls. Affordable services nearby. A safe place to stay, very very private. Ideal for work, for students and for vacations. I have spend quite some time in Quito and this is my favorite place of all.

  • Comfortable, private room in safe, convenient location. We felt as if we were coming home right from the first day. It's very comforting to have use of a kitchen and living room so as not to feel confined to just a bedroom. With only one other guest in the house, we weren't forced to socialize as in a hostel, yet had pleasant interaction with the other guest.
The best part is the host, Nieves. She is friendly, accommodating and a wealth of knowledge. She went out of her way to help us register our visas, find specific shops, arrange taxis and provide amazing insight into Quito and beyond.
In the condo adjoining Nieves' lives her son, daughter-in-law and 2 year old grandson, who is bright, precocious and adorable. Their occasional visits added to the sense that we were part of a loving family and not just strangers in a foreign country. We would not hesitate to stay here the next time we are in Quito.

  • I stayed with Nieves for three months. She is a great host and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. We have a shared taste for music and wine and we exchanged lots of experiences. The house is exactly what you see in the pictures, i.e. very cozy and well located. Her son lives next door and also gave a hand when I needed local tips. They are all very friendly and I hope we will be in touch in the future.

  • Nieves' home is very cozy, clean, and safe. It is located in an excellent neighborhood near public transport and minutes away from a major university/library as well as a few shopping centers. Nieves and her family are wonderful hosts with a very friendly attitude and full of great advice. They are always there for you but also give you all the privacy in the world!
Nieves shared with me amazing Colombian cooking skills and recipes that I will always cherish. My experience at her home was very pleasant and I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you Nieves. Fair winds to you.

  • I stayed in the big room with private bath for 28 nights. The room was comfortable for me. A couple, Tom and Athena from England was also there at the same time. Nieves, Tom, Athena, and I hung out sometimes. One time we went to the Middle of the Earth and once we went to lunch for fish. It was very good food. A few times we cooked for each other. The house altogether was very comfortable, safe, and secure and in a prime area to get around.
When I found AirBnb, at first, I had a hard time coming to grips in staying at someone’s house especially in a foreign country but after one hour of arriving, I felt comfortable and after three days, Nieves house was my new home. I have heard horror stories, like with the foreign students’ home-stays, where you just about had to ask to go to the bathroom, but at Nieves, I never felt that way. The last night there the house (Nieves, Tom, Athena, Jaime, and ME), went out to dinner and they paid for mine, made me feel very special. I didn’t cry though.
To tell you the truth, I came to Ecuador for two reasons. To lose weight and to see if this would be a good retirement spot. I have lost 20 pounds since I arrived 30 days ago and the retirement spot is still cooking on the grill. I am in Baños as I write this review, it is very relaxing here. I walk or bike everyday while listening to Michel Thomas tapes. Today the weather was wonderful.
If you want to experience Quito and surrounding area, Nieves is where you want to stay. I enjoyed myself while being there. And that all I have to say about that.
