About this listing
Nestled among oaks, this secure, private suite is attached to our home with a separate entrance. We're close to great views, restaurants and shopping, family-friendly activities, nightlife, and the beach. You’ll love our place because of the coziness, the views, and especially the location. It's about a mile from downtown Beaufort, adjacent to the Spanish Moss Biking and Hiking Trail, 6 miles from Parris Island MCRD, convenient to Hilton Head Island, and halfway between Charleston and Savannah.
Although the space is part of our home, it is a 600 sq foot deluxe studio apartment with a separate, private entrance and an adjoining door with a locking knob on the apartment side and a deadbolt on ours. The apartment is also armed with a security system. There is a bedroom/sitting room, a separate kitchen and bathroom. In the bedroom/sitting room, there is a closet, a chest of drawers and a bedside chest for your use. There is an alarm clock on the nightstand with two USB ports for charging electronics. If another bed is needed, we have a twin-size air mattress with a pump. Linens for that are provided as well. The separate kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, waffle maker, coffee pot, cookware, dishes, flatware - anything you need to make yourself at home. You can enjoy breakfast at the kitchen breakfast bar or use the TV trays located in the bedroom/sitting room. Some of our guests even enjoy their breakfast in the gazebo by the marsh or on the patio. We also have a washer and dryer for your use - detergent, bleach, and dryer sheets are provided. The bathroom is small, but includes a full tub/shower. Towels are provided.
Guests have access to ample, on-site parking, just a few steps from the private entrance. Guests are also welcome to use the patio, the large screened gazebo, and gas grill - full access to the backyard.
Interaction with guests
We are both high school teachers who enjoy interacting with people; however, we will allow you as much privacy as you desire. We will be happy to recommend activities for you to do while in town or sit and visit with you on the patio over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. If you need us during your visit, we will be available by text or by ringing the buzzer located next to the adjoining door.
Home is in a quiet neighborhood and marshfront on a quiet cove of Battery Creek, across the marsh from an historic civil war battery. Also, the Spanish Moss Biking and Hiking Trail can be seen from the backyard. Just up the street is a very nice neighborhood playground. We have a large, screened gazebo adjacent to the marsh that you are free to use as well as our patio, gas grill and large backyard fire pit (when owners are on premises).
Centrally located just minutes from historic downtown Beaufort, the waterfront park and playground and only about 6 miles from Parris Island MCRD. We are also only about 10 miles from the beach at Hunting Island State Park. A beach pass is provided with your stay. We also have a few beach towels for your use. The Spanish Moss Biking and Hiking Trail is within site of the property and runs from one end of Beaufort to the other. We have two bikes for your use, a 26" men's cruiser and a girl's 24" including locks and helmets.

We are both high school teachers. Kathy teaches Biology and Chemistry while Jeff teaches English. As you can see from a couple of our photos, Kathy enjoys flower gardening and Jeff obligingly digs the holes. We relax on our patio, reading, sipping wine, and enjoying the view of our backyard and the marsh. We are empty nesters with two adult sons and a daughter-in-law. We have two sweet cats, Huck and Becky; however, they are not allowed in the guest suite. We enjoy traveling and have taken student groups to several different countries: Greece, Italy, France, England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and Costa Rica. Ironically, we have not seen as much of our own country as we would like but hope to remedy that! We were able to tour the New England states recently and enjoyed that immensely. We look forward to hosting guests in our home!
