Our home is traditional eclectic and was featured as a house tour on Apartment Therapy.
Our home is welcoming and comfortable, not new and fancy. It's full of original art work and has a mural painted across the entire back of the house.
We have a dog. She's big, friendly, likes to give high fives, and stick her nose in your lap in case you forget to pet her. She basically barks twice a day - in the morning as kids and their pets are walking to school, and at the mailman in the afternoon.
Just because we have beer in the fridge doesn't mean it's breakfast juice. Please BYOB.
We live in a great location -- close to the Medical Center, Rice University, the Museum District, and Rice Village Shopping Center. We're within easy walking distance to Rice Village which offers a variety of shopping, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. We're also within walking distance to Rice U and the Med Center. We're a short bus ride to Reliant Center, home of the Texans and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and can walk to the Metrorail for an easy ride downtown for theatre, opera, symphony, baseball, basketball, and soccer, and probably something else that I can't remember.
It's not very accommodating for people with mobility issues.
The guest is welcome to exclusive use of the attached restroom. This room opens to the den.
I love staying with Sarah, Reese, and Tilly, their lovely standard poodle. I found myself telling Sarah I had "come home to rest" after a day of working in Houston--it really does feel home-y to be there. I highly recommend their comfy room.
I was there for 4 nights, and chose it because of location and past reviews. Its in the University / Village area so walking distance of restaurants shops + the Village is something of an oasis. It is also about a 10-15 min drive to the Convention Center - so very handy. The street is nicely quiet and there is plenty of parking and exterior of house is one big mural - very distinct.
Sarah and Reece / Rhys (apologies for spelling here?) - exactly as per other reviews. Very friendly, charming and excellent hosts. Shared a beer/tea and breakfast. Super friendly dog also
The room is large with a comfortable bed. Plenty of space.
I will be back for another visit and delighted to recommend to others
Sarah and Reese have a wonderful home. And they are terrific hosts.
Sarah and Reese are wonderful hosts and incredibly caring human beings. It was a pleasure to stay with them. I will do so again, and I highly recommend them to anyone considering a stay in Houston.
Sarah Hazel (email hidden), and I enjoyed getting to know her. She is an artist, and her paintings, which are all over the house, are very personal- family, friends, objects that she loves. Her house is comfortable and inviting, and Tilly the Wonder dog is a darling dog. The surrounding neighborhood is a quiet, tree lined suburb, with people walking their dogs and babies in strollers. It's so much better than staying at a downtown hotel! I'm happy that I stayed with Sarah and will do it again if I come back to Houston.
Sarah (email hidden)om the moment I walked in the door of the house, I felt like an old friend she hadn’t seen in a while. The purpose of my trip was to visit some of the museums. Sarah is a wonderful artist and very connected into the arts scene in Houston. She went to one of the exhibits with me and on the way gave me a tour of some of the sculptures in the area. She also suggested visiting some museums I hadn’t considered which turned out to be great. Sarah and Reese are very accepting, non-judgmental and genuinely interested in their guests. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. Tilly is very loving and a big bonus. The room was clean, pretty, larger than I expected and very comfortable. Loved Sarah's paintings and the stories behind some of them. The neighborhood is very nice and I didn’t feel uncomfortable walking from Rice Village to the house in the evening. Sarah and Reese are knowledgeable of the food scene and can give you excellent recommendations in every price range. I loved staying with them and hope to get back to Houston again so I can stay with them. It was a VERY happy experience.
I want to thank you for the time we were at your house, I found an exceptionally clean house and welcoming hosts. I enjoyed our conversations with you, your husband and the other guests, your neighborhood is pretty. I just regret not being able to say goodbye to both of you. We want to thank you so much for everything you offered us, we appreciate it! I hope to visit my daughter again in the near future and want to stay in your house again.
Sarah and Reese are the best. I love staying with them.
This is a warm and welcoming home. My room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. The house is very conveniently placed for the Texas Medical Center, Rice University and Rice Village - all within easy walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Sarah (email hidden) - her unassuming ways mask a deep and abiding kindness - and goes out of her way to research helpful information that will enhance your stay. Plus Tilly the Wonder Dog is just that - she can calm anyone down! I really cannot recommend 2315 Addison highly enough - I loved staying there.
This is the lovely room that Ted, my 80 year old Dad stayed in. This was his last night in Houston as he was moving to an apartment in an Independent Living Facility on April 3rd.
I broke him out of his rehab center that he was in after a short hospital stay due to cancer treatment and was lucky enough for Sarah to have this downstairs room available.
I had lots of packing work at his house to accomplish that night so had a friend bring him a meal ~ we were out early the next morning together.
I keep saying that the Hazel Home is a God send...well, it was for me.
Dad slept soundly and got up refreshed and ready for a journey.
