Stay here! My husband and I spent an overnight with Tina on our way 'home' from Yellowstone (one night in SLC before flying home to NY). Everything about the stay was perfect!
--Tina's home is just a few blocks (maybe 10 min) walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars and shopping in the Sugar House area (yet the neighborhood is quiet and feels removed from all the commercial activity). There are also gas stations and supermarkets very close by.
--Her house was easy to find, just off of the interstate, and there was ample free parking on the street. There are a few steps to walk up from the street to her home, so keep this in mind if you have a lot of luggage to move. (Keep in mind that Salt Lake is a big city, and our recommendation would be to take all your valuables into the house with you and not leave anything in the car!)
--The room and bathroom were clean, nicely appointed (towels, shampoo/shower gel provided), and there was plenty of space for us to hang clothes if we wanted, and spread out. Instructions for the wifi, contact numbers and other details were on an index card in the room - really we felt like everything had been prepared just for us.
--Regarding coming and going, Tina will give you a spare key to the house; lock the bolt behind you as you leave, then let yourself in and out as needed. For us, we just needed to drop the keys on our way out at 6:30 am, so we placed them in the mail slot after locking the door behind us. Easy peasy.
--Tina was also home when we arrived and we really enjoyed meeting with her and chatting about Airbnb and her neighborhood. She had also baked a coffee cake which was a very nice and welcoming touch!
--Last note - Tina's house is immaculate and she and her partner have definitely made an effort to keep the house in great shape - make sure to be respectful and take your shoes off at the door - and if you don't like going barefoot in a stranger's home, have some indoor slippers ready! (I like to go barefoot; my husband is the slipper type...)
We've also stayed at a couple of other places in the city now, and by comparison, Tina's is the best overall. Great neighborhood, great room, easy parking, and you quickly feel comfortable. It's also a great value. We highly recommend it!
Tina and Jason are extremely personable, relaxed, and knowledgeable. The room and bathroom were quite comfortable, and the apartment is in a very nice neighborhood with many shops and restaurants, along with easy access to public transportation. I would be happy to stay with them again.
I had a wonderful time staying at Tina's during my stay in Salt Lake City! The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. There was an air conditioning unit in the room which was convenient. The location is close to a Whole Foods and Patagonia outlet store. Tina is also a fellow yogi and made several good recommendations. It was a great stay. Thank you Tina for being such a gracious host!
We were welcomed by Tina and Jason. Everything about their hospitality and the home was outstanding. The neighborhood is vibrant and excellent restaurants and stores are within 2 blocks of their home.
Tina and Jason were very welcoming hosts, giving me lots of good tips for places to eat in the area, where to see the fireworks for the 4th of July, etc. Their house was in a great area, and the room was really comfortable (amazing bed!) and bathroom clean and well equipped. Would definitely stay with them again if I'm passing through SLC. Thanks guys!
We had a lovely stay with Tina. Our room was comfortable with our own air conditioner to help us with the Salt Lake City summer temperature. Tina was on the lookout and caught us walking past the house (we came in from the airport via Trax), and welcomed us to her home. The bed was totally comfortable, the house very quiet, and close to the shops in Sugar House. Well recommended!
Tina was extremely welcoming, and the place was everything I had hoped! Lovely neighborhood, spacious room, beautiful apartment, and super nice hosts. Would highly recommend!
About the Host, Tina
I've lived on both US coasts and places in between, but moved to Utah in '06 because the snow is better here! I enjoy being outdoors in the sun, but can also be found inside at my computer. I share my home with my boyfriend Jason who has lived in SLC for nearly 20 years.
