Here are suggestions of places to go in the neighbourhood. If you need recommendations for eating in other part of the city, it will be my pleasure to give you some names :
- Wine bar, good food and a lot of ambiance : Buvette chez simone
- Middle eastern : Kaza maza (best price/quality), Rumi (beautiful terrasse, amazing food), Barbounya (turkish, trendy).
- Fancy (more pricey): Le filet or Hotel Herman (trendy and creative)
- Brunch : Art Cafe, Lawrence, Sparrow
- Ice cream : Kem coba
- Bagel : Fairmount or St-Viateur bakery (both open 24/7)
- Coffee : Café la plume or Boris (russian donut is also their specialty).
- Bar : Big in Japan is a "hidden" bar (on St-Laurent corner of Rachel, next to Patati Patata restaurant, beautiful, soft music, amazing cocktails, nice Japanese whisky selection.
Parking : you can usually find a spot in the street but make sure it is not reserved for permit holders. If no place is available on Hutchison, look on Villeneuve. There is also a paying parking one block away from my place, at 400 Laurier West. It cost maximum 15$ per day.
Bus 80 is very convenient : it gets you downtown in less than 10 min and passes every 5-10 min. The stop is right on the corner. We are also walking distance of metro Mont-Royal. Hopefully, you like to use a bike : then you can rent a bixi and ride a full day for 7$!
Other Things to Note
My cat will stay at the apartment while you are there. She does not require any care but she loves to hang out with guests. If you are allergic, please let me know and we will see if we can organize something so she does not stay at the apartment while you are there.
The towels are in the shelves in the small bedroom behind the door.
The microwave may randomly starts to beep. We usually keep it unplugged for this reason.
We love our neighbours and we wish to keep a good relationship with them. Therefore, we would appreciate that there is no party in our apartment. We share a balcony with the neighbours so we ask our guest to be respectful with them if using the balcony.
Heating : feel free to adjust the temperature directly on the baseboard heater.
Garbage is under the sink and recycling is under the counter on the left of the oven, in a blue bag. You do not need to get the trash out, I will take care of it.
Smoking is not allowed in the apartment but you can smoke on the balconies.
