Charming apartment at the confluence of the plateau, downtown and the Mile end in an stylish building. Quiet. Accessible. Clean. Artsy.
Enjoy the sun in the morning when you wake up on the balcony facing an Orthodox Greek Church and enjoy it again in the afternoon, overlooking a grass courtyard with a fountain. The apt itself has 2 bedrooms, each with double beds, 1 office with a computer and wifi, a large living room with 2 couches, flat screen TV equipped with AppleTV, a dining room with an old barnwood table and a kitchen with all the amenities. You can expect to feel the character and bohemian vibe of Montreal's Plateau neighbourhood in the appt and most certainly when step out. Within a 3 block radius there are cafes, terrases, bars and more. We are on the border of the Plateau and the mile end, so, when dining out, you can make it quick and cheap, or, for foodies that want to experience Montreal's culinary braun, walk one more block to St. Laurent Blvd. and experience restaurants rated as Montreal's best and one in particular that is rated as one of Canada's best. The bus on Parc St. runs frequently and takes you directly to metro station, Place des Arts on the green line, or you can walk about 12 mins to metro station Mont Royal on the orange line.
2 beds, one king size and one queen size, with bedding and sheets
High speed Internet (wifi)
Full kitchen with dishwasher
Washing and drying machines in the basement
TV with Apple TV
Kitchen, dining room, living room (with tv), bathroom.
The best. Close to everything.
Here are suggestions of places to go in the neighbourhood. If you need recommendations for eating in other part of the city, it will be my pleasure to give you some names :
- Wine bar, good food and a lot of ambiance : Buvette chez simone
- Middle eastern : Kaza maza (best price/quality), Damas (amazing!), Rumi (beautiful terrasse), Barbounya (turkish, trendy).
- Fancy (more pricey): Le filet or Hotel Herman (trendy and creative)
- Brunch : Art Cafe, Lawrence, Sparrow
- Ice cream : Kem coba
- Bagel : Fairmount or St-Viateur bakery (both open 24/7)
- Coffee : Café la plume or Boris (russian donut is also their specialty).
- Bar : Big in Japan is a "hidden" bar (on St-Laurent corner of Rachel, next to Patati Patata restaurant, beautiful, soft music, amazing cocktails, nice Japanese whisky selection.
Parking : you can usually find a spot in the street but make sure it is not reserved for permit holders. If no place is available on Hutchison, look on Villeneuve. There is also a paying parking one block away from my place, at 400 Laurier West. It cost maximum 15$ per day.
Bus 80 is very convenient : it gets you downtown in less than 10 min and passes every 5-10 min. The stop is right on the corner. We are also walking distance of metro Mont-Royal. Hopefully, you like to use a bike : then you can rent a bixi and ride a full day for 7$!
We love our neighbours and we wish to keep a good relationship with them. Therefore, we would appreciate that there is no party in our apartment. We share a balcony with the neighbours so we ask our guest to be respectful with them if using the balcony.
Heating : feel free to adjust the temperature directly on the baseboard heater.
Garbage is under the sink and recycling is under the counter on the left of the oven, in a blue bag. You do not need to get the trash out, I will take care of it.
Smoking is not allowed in the apartment but you can smoke on the balconies.
Sophie's apartment is beautiful! Everything was smooth and exactly as described. The apartment gets lots of light and is very open. The location could not be better.
Our stay at Sophie's place was perfect! She was a responsive, charming host and the place was immaculate.
The apartment is charming, spacious and well-located. Sophie was very communicative and generous. I would certainly hope to stay here on my next visit to Montreal. Many thanks Sophie!
Sophie was very communicative and helpful with putting together a smooth arrival for us. There were no surprises with the accommodation and I appreciated the extra effort she put in to having basic supplies (coffee, tea, fruit) available. Her place was quite comfortable to stay in. If you arrive with car, pay attention to the advice in the listing. It felt like a tricky area to find a spot for any real length of time. Very fun cat (and I tend to be allergic, but she was very sweet).
I stayed in Sophie's apartment with my boyfriend in early October for a weekend - it was the perfect base for exploring Montreal, and we just loved it. It would be fine for a bigger group too, but for the two of us it was roomy and very comfortable. The apartment itself is gorgeous and very comfortable, was very clean, the wifi worked great, and we loved Sophie's sweet cat. There were lots of restaurants and bars only a block away, and we walked everywhere all weekend very easily. We didn't get to meet Sophie, but she was easy to communicate with, and made it easy for us to check in and out on our schedule - and was very accommodating when we ended up arriving later than I had predicted. We drove to Montreal, and I also had no problem parking on the street - just about half a block down from the building. I just loved Sophie's apartment and would love to return! Thank you Sophie!

Hey! I am Sophie. I love travelling, especially when I experience a culture shock. That being said, I have traveled mostly in Europe (I studied in Spain) and in North America. What I like about Airbnb is that it provides me an opportunity to meet people, which is something I don't get to do otherwise in my day to day life.
I love running, doing yoga, reading graphic novels and cooking vegan food.
