Our home is traditional eclectic and was featured as a house tour on Apartment Therapy. We have three available bedrooms, two downstairs and one upstairs, all with double beds. The two bathrooms are shared, not private.
Our home is welcoming and comfortable, not new and fancy. It's full of original art work and has a mural painted across the entire back of the house.
We have a dog. She's big, friendly, likes to give high fives, and stick her nose in your lap in case you forget to pet her. She basically barks twice a day - in the morning as kids and their pets are walking to school, and at the mailman in the afternoon.
Just because we have beer in the fridge doesn't mean it's breakfast juice. Please BYOB.
We live in a great location -- close to the Medical Center, Rice University, the Museum District, and Rice Village Shopping Center. We're within easy walking distance to Rice Village which offers a variety of shopping, cafes, restaurants, and pubs. We're also within walking distance to Rice U and the Med Center. We're a short bus ride to Reliant Center, home of the Texans and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and can walk to the Metrorail for an easy ride downtown for theatre, opera, symphony, baseball, basketball, and soccer, and probably something else that I can't remember.
The house is not very accommodating for people with mobility issues.
Sarah was an excellent host! She is extremely friendly and warm, making you feel welcome in her home. She has a beautiful home full of her personal artwork in a very nice residential neighborhood right next to Rice University. Easy access to highways, food options, parks, running/walking paths, and overnight/free parking on street outside. Opens the whole house to guests and provides breakfast food/drinks as well. Highly recommend and I would certainly stay again!
Sarah, Reece, and Tilly the dog welcomed me warmly to their attractive home. The room I stayed in was comfortable and pretty. The shared bath was pleasant and clean. Staying here you feel like part of the family right away. The location is very convenient, walking distance to Rice U., Rice Village (shopping and restaurants), and the Texas Medical Center. Public transportation is nearby. Recommended.
This is probably the most memorable AirBnB experience I have ever had. First of all, just the aesthetic stuff. The house is gorgeous, and it's brimming with art -- inside and out!! The sheets, blankets, and towels are ample, cushy, and divine, morning coffee and cereal get your day started off right, and then you're off into the beautiful, tree-lined community. It's a pleasant, inspiring walk right over to Rice and centrally located to so many other things (including easy walking to a location of Torchy's Tacos, can I please go back and have a fried avocado taco already??).
But above and beyond all that, your hosts, Sarah and her husband, are just truly lovely. Pleasant, so interesting (wait 'til you see the artwork!!), welcoming, and kind. I had SUCH a great, short stay there. I definitely did not want to return to colder climes! It was an unbeatable experience.
Sarah is an excellent host. Very comunicative and always made sure I had everything I needed.
Her place in clean. It is in a very nice neighborhood.
I will try to stay here when I'm back in Houston. Highly recomended!!
Sarah was the best host, in fact it does not seem the right word to call her host as she felt like someone I knew forever from the get go... Her home, her sweet dog Tilly, her friendly smiling husband Reese are all welcoming. My room was sweet & cozy, the location was beyond perfect for my business in Houston. A friend of mine who came by and I were lucky to enjoy a spontaneous musical performance by Sarah & Reese...I may have picked this listing due to economics & location but I feel now that I have a family to stay with and have breakfast with when I come to Houston. My father is in treatment & I came to assist him which is a little hard so having a warm and love-filled home to rest in made this trip much easier. The whole house is filled with light - all three rooms have nice antique touches like chenille bedspreads, antique dressers etc..I felt comfortable to work & stay in my room but also felt welcome in the other parts of the house. Sarah knows both how to make you feel at hone and how to give you privacy. She was accommodating of my late arrival, in fact met me at the door outside in her robe! She knows how to take care of her guests with grace & ease and a smile. You will most assuredly be happy to stay in Sarah's lovely art-filled home, perhaps I will see you there on my next trip to the big city of Houston!
Sarah and Reese ... what a delightful couple. I came to Houston on a whim, needing to escape the dreadful winter in Michigan. I chose their home due to it's proximity to the museum district and their welcoming profile. The moment I arrived - I knew I had made a good choice. Both Sarah and Reese greeted me with warmth and kindness. There was a welcoming as they knew me - best that I can describe - it is as if we were previous classmates that had a familiarity, yet a respect of separation from year apart. I was comfortable coming and going as I desired - with the added bonus of having direction and suggestions from Sarah and Reese's knowledge of the neighborhood and surrounding area. Their knowledge of the arts and the phenomenal museums there in Houston made my adventure all the more enjoyable. Sarah is an incredible artist and her paintings inspired me and have shared with my students and friends. I highly recommend their home as a safe and inviting home ...and hope to return.
I highly recommend Sarah and Reese's house for anyone visiting Houston. I felt right at home, and I enjoyed talking to Sarah and petting Tilly. My room was adorable and very comfortable.
Great place to stay. I was easily able to walk to the med centre and local shops. Sarah and Reese were also very flexible on allowing me to stay when I had a late flight in and an early flight out which was very generous.
Sarah had great local knowledge and pointed me in the right direction for my 3 days stay. Would stay again, especially because Tilly is so delightful!
I highly recommend this room! Sarah and her husband are very warmhearted and sincerely welcomed my first visit to Houston. So did their lovely dog Tilly^^ I really loved the location cause Texas Medical Center where I usually went around is so close that I could walk to get there. The neighborhood is very pretty and safe. As I got to Hobby airport, I found 73 metro bus going to the neighborhood without transfer, and I safely got there even in the dark evening 8 pm. It was never difficult to go mid, downtown.
I am a Korean who is poor at English..They spoke to me not fast so I understood the introduction things very well :) also listened to me very well. I really appreciated their consideration.
Plus one of the reason I chose here is the fact that the room is so so cute and pretty. I loved not only my room but also everywhere in the house. It is totally same as the pics..no, much prettier!
I guarantee this is the best BnB in terms of clean, comfort, and accessibility. I would like to visit again.
Sarah was a wonderful and kind host. She greeted us warmly when we arrived on a cold evening and showed us our room. Her beautiful paintings and mosaics give the home a personal eclectic touch.
The room is nice and exactly what we expected. Clean towels were ready for us and extra blankets as it was an unusually cold evening.
Sarah pointed us to some great local restaurants for dinner that night, and we ended up getting Cuban food at a place just a couple blocks away.
French press coffee and cereal was available for us for breakfast and Sarah offered to be flexible on the checkout time since the weather wasn't looking good. we were thankful for her generosity but were okay to leave on time as planned.
Would stay there again!
