About this listing
Spacious, completely private, townhome-style unit in newly renovated 1900-era colonial home. Includes full kitchen, dining room and living room. Located in Warwick, NY, near shopping (Woodbury Outlets), skiing (Mountain Creek) and more.
This newly renovated townhome-style apartment in a historic 1900 colonial home has 2 large bedrooms and a bathroom, with its own full kitchen and dining room, as well as a private entrance. It's one-half of a 3,600-square-foot house, which is divided into two, completely separate units. I live on the other half, with my husband.
The home is located on 2 acres of land on the edge of the village of Warwick, approximately a 2-minute drive or 15-minute walk to shops and restaurants along Main Street. The house is surrounded by a large lawn, historic barns and farm fields.
The spacious apartment is spread over two floors. Downstairs, there is a full kitchen, dining room and large living room. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and one bathroom.
Each of the two bedrooms is furnished with a queen bed and tasteful period furnishings. There is an additional $50 per person (per night) charge for parties of more than four people.
(Note: If you need just one bedroom, there is a separate listing of the same property with only one bedroom called "Historic Suite in the Hudson Valley")
The apartment has its own back porch and guests can also use the large front porch.
Warwick is a 250-year-old town in the heart of the Hudson Valley, roughly one hour from Manhattan. There are several vineyards around town for wine lovers, as well as orchards and farmers markets (The yearly AppleFest celebration in October brings thousands of visitors to town for a traditional harvest festival).
Quaint Main Street has historic pubs, some nice bistros and more formal dining. For shoppers, Woodbury Commons outlet is approximately 30 minutes away.
In winter, Warwick is located within 15 minutes of three ski centers (Mountain Creek, Mt. Peter and Hidden Valley).
Other nearby activities include:
- Sugar Loaf (15 minutes): an arts and crafts village with dozens of shops selling handmade goods
- Wawayanda State Park (10 minutes): 34,000 acres of hiking trails, including a large beach and mountain lake for swimming, canoe rentals, etc.
- Mountain Creek Water Park (10 minutes): Enormous, 65-acre water park with alpine slides, wave pools, Tarzan swings and other rides
- Applachian Trail (5 minutes): The historic, 2,200-mile hiking trail from Maine to Georgia passes through Warwick, offering some incredible mountain vistas
The unit is fully self-contained, with its own private entrance. It includes its own kitchen, dining room and living room, as well as a 2 bedrooms (with queen beds) and bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
I'll be on hand to greet guests and to provide any information about the area. I'm happy to offer tips on restaurants, things to do, etc., but I've found that most guests want to enjoy the stay on their own, without interference from the owners!
The house is located in a quiet area, with farm fields and woodlands, on the edge of town (about 2 miles from downtown Warwick). There is a large, 2-acre yard.
Historic downtown Warwick has a lively Main Street with restaurants, pubs and shops. Within a 20-30 minute drive are several ski centers (including Mountain Creek) and shopping at the Woodbury Commons outlets.
Private, off-street parking is included. There is no public transit in the area, but the home is approximately two miles from downtown Warwick, NY, with its shops, restaurants, grocery stores and other amenities.
The unit is non-smoking. We ask that guests smoke only outside. Thank you.
Pets are not allowed.
The suite is townhome-style, spread over two floors. For that reason, it might not be suitable for older people who have trouble on stairs or people with very young children.
Our accommodations were perfect! There are new sofas in the living room and they were very comfortable. The beds were also cozy with lots of pillow. I was greeted with a hug and our hosts left us some yummy snacks, which came in handy. The setting is beautiful. When I return to the area, I will definitely stay here again!
We had a great stay with Marcie. She was very welcoming and willing to advise on things to do in the area. The listing was comfortable and we had plenty of space for four people.
We had a terrific stay with Marcie and Tom! The place was just as described — clean, spacious, and charming! Marcie and Tom were very friendly, but not at all intrusive, and really made us feel welcome. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to check out Warwick or the surrounding area!
Marcie and Tom were the best. She greeted us as we arrived with a hug. The house was perfect, had everything we needed . Plenty of room and the location was close to everything. I would highly recommend his listing and would stay again. Thanks to you Marcie and Tom again.
Marcie is a great host. The home is exactly as listed. Everything is clean and well maintained. A great location, and Marcie was very helpful in providing directions and recommendations of the area. I would highly recommend Marcie as your host.
Tom and Marcie were excellent hosts. They made us feel at home with nice welcoming touches as well as providing us with helpful information about area services. It felt as if we were visiting old friends yet they allowed us our own space and privacy.
The accommodation is in a lovely old house which has been tastefully modernized. It has a nice bath and kitchen and its own entry. The yard is well kept and the house is neat and clean.
Warwick is a town that appears to be handling development better than many others. It has an active main street with many local businesses. There are lots of interesting places to visit within easy reach including wineries and parks. There is also thriving agriculture in the area; the Black Dirt district is something to see.
We hope to return to this pleasant home and area again.
We had a fantastic weekend staying at Marcie and Tom's place! They were both so friendly and helpful when we needed advice, but also left us to do our own thing. The house was perfect and exactly what we wanted--tucked away in nature but close enough to enjoy the town. We cooked at home for a few meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. Warwick is a beautiful town with plenty to do there and in the surrounding area. We would absolutely come back to Warwick, and to stay with Marcie!
