The space

Victorian garden apartment located in ideal Mission setting - quiet tree-lined street minutes away from restaurants, clubs, galleries and Mission culture. Designed and furnished expressly for those desiring the privacy and luxury of a good hotel combined with the spirit of San Francisco, this apartment is ideal for those wanting the comforts of home in an amazing location to venture out for city exploring.

The Mission District is one of the sunniest neighborhoods in San Francisco and convenient to downtown, the Castro District, Moscone Center, the Design District, as well as Dolores Park and AT&T park.

Ground floor of a historic Victorian from the 1890's, this large studio apartment has a private entrance, hardwood floors, beautifully mosaic-ed bathroom, high ceilings and period details. It is charming and fully furnished with an organic cotton queen bed, luxurious bedding, plenty of storage space and a large, cheerful, and fully equipped eat-in kitchen. For a studio apartment, this is on the large side, with a wide and long hallway that serves as office space.

The entry hallway has a couch that folds into a twin sized mattress. It's a tight fit, but perfect for that third person, or if quests prefer not to share the queen bed.

A beautiful garden and historic carriage house is right out your kitchen window and there is shared washer and dryer if required. The apartment is stocked with maps, guidebooks, and local magazines.

24th Street Bart (Bay Area Rapid Transit, SF's Subway) is a ten minute walk away, and a bus line that goes straight downtown is one block away. Parking is street only, but you'd be staying in one of the most walkable neighborhoods in the country, and have access to multiple forms of public transportation.

Any questions I had about the property were answered almost immediately by Martha. Could not ask for a nicer place to stay the weekend in the Mission.

The house was super cool and beautifully decorated, and everything was spot on. Being on the ground floor and surrounded by other houses didn’t let much light in, but on the other hand we had plenty of utensils to cook with, toiletries (yes to the hair dryer!) and washing machine/tumble dryer available. It’s also in a great location (we loved Mission, the neighbourhood), and even when the nearest BART station is a bit of a walk away (15min), you won’t find difficult to reach the city centre or other places of interest. Martha is a great host and she’ll respond to your queries super quickly! The WiFi didn’t work properly when we arrived, and after sending her a message we had it up and running in less than 10 minutes. Some recommendations in the area: don’t miss the donuts from Dynamo, breakfast at Fountain, burritos at El Farolito (good luck finishing one on your own!) and tacos from La Taquería. Bookshops such as Adobe Books and Dog-Eared Books are a must for book lovers too.

This place truly is a gem. If you're interested in getting a precious insight into the beloved Mission District then this is indeed a special spot for that. The place itself is spacious for a couple. The bed is clean and comfy, the ceiling fan a blessing in the surprise heatwave we experienced, the kitchen well equipped with handy bits and pieces like cooking oil. We wanted for nothing expect perhaps to move in! The street has some gorgeous, classic SF Victorian style houses, a true pleasure to walk around and easy enough to get to Mission, Valencia or Delores on foot. Thanks again, Martha, your place really made our first visit to SF a dream (hopefully first of many).

I will preface this review by saying we are from NYC/the Metro NY area so our standards might be a bit high in comparison to others. We found San Francisco in general to be overpriced but severely lacking the quality and aesthetic to justify it. That basically summarized our airbnb experience as well. This apartment is in what's considered a hip part of town, and it was definitely nice and peaceful, but just not to our taste. The place was a bit dingy, the bathroom very small and not the cleanest, and it generally didn't feel very "homey" during our stay. That said, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better value in this area, as hotels and other options are extremely expensive. Downtown, tourist traps, and other areas of the SF area are easily accessible via Uber or Uber + public transport. A ride into the more bustling parts of town can take anywhere between 15 minutes to 45 depending on what time of day, etc. All in all, you get what you pay for in this area, and you'll have to pay a lot if you want a nice bathroom!

Nice appartment. Perfectly located in the mission district. Great coffeee shops and restaurants around. A bit far from the bart station (15 min walk) but very convenient if you plan to go around using uber or lyft.

I live in one of the greatest homes in the Mission. This house is full of artists, activists, and people who do good work for the world, so if you stay here you are in fabulous company. I own a Montessori pre-school, have been a practicing Buddhist since 1984 and love the Bay Area. I am taking over managing from Bryan, who moved to Sacramento.
