About this listing

Best value in most exciting part of downtown Los Angeles! Walk to the Gold Line, Arts District and Little Tokyo. Near easy public transport, great restaurants. Private rooms with shared bath and kitchen cleaned daily. Friendly international vibe!

The space

Due to demand, we only respond to fully verified guests who provide a clear profile photo, full name, age, name of current employer and/or school, and descriptive purpose of visit. Thank you for your understanding.

Live in in the heart of Little Tokyo and the Arts District with other international travelers and visitors! Clean, convenient, and inexpensive. You won't find a better deal in LA.

Furnished dorm room available for minimum four days, long term stays encouraged. Rooms come with closet, sink, bed, desk, chair and mini fridge. Unfurnished rooms are also available, please see our other listings.

LENGTH OF STAY - We generally accept reservations of 30 days maximum length. If you wish to reserve for a longer period you may discuss that with the apartment manager after you check in for your initial stay.

ROOM DESCRIPTION: Private rooms are for one individual, have locks on doors, and come with a sink. Kitchen, toilet, shower rooms are shared, and professionally cleaned each day. This is a dorm-style atmosphere with great long-term tenants, international travelers, and a friendly on-site manager. Please bring your own towel. This room is similar to the others I have listed, that's why I am just using the same photo. For views of the premises look at the other properties. Thank you for not requesting additional photos of the rooms.

PARKING: Free street parking is available nearby (but it goes quickly), otherwise it is $4.00/day at the meters or $4.00/day at the nearby lot. Metered spots are enforced from 6 am - 4 pm and they also cost $4.00 per day.

GETTING THERE: From LAX take the FlyAway bus ($7.00 one way) to Union Station, then take the Gold Line to the Little Tokyo stop. The building is two short blocks away.

WEEKEND ARRIVAL: Please keep in mind that if you are arriving on a Saturday or Sunday the manager may not be there in person to let you in, but there is a lockbox from which you retrieve your keys.

CHECKING IN: Check-in is at 3 pm, Check-out is at 12 noon. Once your reservation is accepted you will receive a phone number for the on-site manager, Alex (different from the one currently listed). Please contact him immediately to discuss check-in details. Please do not wait until the last minute to call. Thank you!

SECURITY DEPOSIT: Because most of our tenants are long-term guests, our security deposit is the equivalent of one month's rent. The deposit is held by Airbnb through your credit card and they will return it to you after your stay. We have had a couple hundred individual reservations with our building and have only had to make deductions for damages a couple of times. If you are a responsible guest, you should have no worries.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS: Additional guests are not allowed without prior notification and prior permission given by the host. Unless agreed to otherwise, any additional guests who stay past 10 pm will be charged an additional $10 per night. If an additional guest is brought without prior permission and paid for in advance, you may lose your security deposit or have your reservation cancelled. Thank you in advance for not bringing overnight guests without prior permission.

Guest access

Shared bathrooms are cleaned daily, as is the shared kitchen. Laundry facilities are on site. We have a communal, international atmosphere.

Interaction with guests

Alex is the on-site apartment manager and can answer all of your questions.

The place is bare bone minimum room. No amenities. Kept clean, but the building is old. Communal bathrooms and shower closets. Seems to be safe. Close to train station and the arts centers.

I want to be fair with this feedback. The price for this location is very good and so can be your expectations. Check-In and Check-Out was easy. The room is large and the little fridge was nice to have. I liked that there was a wind machine because it was relatively warm but not too bad. There are some points I need to mention some things that were not that great though: the WIFI was okay, sometimes it did not like to work or was extremely slow. Right now (10/2016) there is a construction right outside on the street and they also work at night and that might wake you during the night. The floor was not cleaned before I got there. There is one last thing I need to say because in the description of this place it says there is a free parking space but well - there is not. It is just not true, and that is mentioned in the comments by the host. So be aware to take about 5 to 10 min to find a parking space somewhere and add at least 4$ a day for parking on the street. Besides that you might need to get up before 6 am to pay for the parking meters. I know that was a lot of negative but I wanna point out that you wont find something in this location that cheap. My conclusion is: You get what you pay for.

Response from Jefferson:
Hi Konstantin, thank you for the comments. However there is free street parking in the area, but we do not state that any free parking is designated for guests, in fact we state that it can be difficult to find. There are several spaces along Hewitt St that do not require meters, as well as a couple of blocks away. Naturally they are very popular and are not always available. We are working to upgrade our internet because of the heavy usage of our guests.

I got sick and had to cancel, rebook, cancel, rebook, etc. They were MORE than accommodating and really tried to help me best they could. They left a key in a lockbox in case I could make it. I ended up not making it but am giving top reviews for their excellent communications! A friend stayed there and confirmed the location is as advertised.

I have been living in Jefferson's dorm for more then one month. My experience has been positive, I would recommend it for a medium term stay. The spaces are old but clean and it's very difficult to find another private room in that area for a cheaper price. The only bad part has been the noisy car washing on the other side of the street.

It's a nice choice to live just near the downtown (especially near the Little Tokyo) with such a nice price. I didn`t mind the wood floor and old facilities. Because the building is old but clean, the rooms are disinfected and swept after using. The only problem was I needed to open the window to let the smell of disinfector out when I just arrived there. Alex is a very nice and kind people, he help me a lot!
