About This Listing
Situated in a leafy suburb overlooking Cork's inner harbour 2 Clarence Terrace is a fine example of a late Georgian townhouse only 10 mins walk from the city center.. While built in early 1800s and retaining period features from window panes through to floors doors and fireplaces we also offer modern comforts and conveniences including free wifi and private car parking. We have 2 large south facing rooms rooms each containing a king sized bed(suitable for 1 or 2 person), comfortable armchairs and large writing desks . The rooms also offer commanding views out over the city for a distance of 10 miles as befitting a former resident of the 1880s Maj. General A. Stubbs. Breakfast encompasses the range from fresh fruit salad, yogurt and museli through to the full Irish.
My girlfriend and I loved our stay with Cyril at the Clarence Terrace B&B this spring. We found our room to be a comfortable and pleasant space, from the lovely furnishings to the bright windows with a view across the river that flows through downtown Cork City. Cyril's B&B has a great location, perched on a hill and slightly removed from the city center, but within perfect walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Above all, Cyril is a great host. We especially enjoyed talking to him about Cork's (and all of Ireland's) history over the delicious breakfasts he prepared for us. We strongly recommend a stay with him at Clarence Terrace B&B.
Superlative beyond imagine! Cyril is the quintessential hotelier/concierge at heart. The bedroom was far more grand than the picture could convey-like sleeping in period palace room. Spacious, with three wingback chairs, a fireplace and a stunning view of the river. His detailed history and knowledge of the Cork/Kinsale area were exquisite as were his directions to each, rivaling the bounty of his sumptuous hot home-cooked Irish feast for breakfast. Don't miss this!
Cyril was more than a perfect host, he has been friendly and kindly hospitable. We felt at home and our room was more than our expectations! It was huge and luxurious. Moreover, Cyril's breakfast has been copious, various and delicious! Cyril suggestions have been precious for us about things to do and places to visit and we are grateful as thanks to his hosting and his tips and an unseasonably sunny and warm weather, our short permanence in Cork has been simply PERFECT!
Cyril was very welcoming and Clarence Terrace was beautiful! A perfect Georgian townhouse. Cyril is very knowledgeable on things to do in Cork which was really helpful! Lovely location within walking distance of the main city and plenty of bus routes around too. Everything was as described. Breakfast was delicious! Would highly recommend!
The welcome of Cyril was very kind, he explained us in a detailed way how to reach the place and he showed us lots of interesting spot in Cork. The room is very charming and have a wonderful view over the city.
Even though we had a very early train in the morning Cyril prepared us a very abundant (for each kind of taste) breakfast. He even prepared us a very nice packed lunch without having asked for it.
We definitely suggest you to visit him!
Clarence Terrace is a wonderful BnB, perfectly placed for a short walk to the centre of town. Cyril is a marvelous host, who made our stay so much easier as he was always ready to help with taxis, timetables, and even shoe polish for a wedding the next day.
Each comfortable night in our huge room was topped off with a delicious breakfast. Cyril made sure that each guest's tastes and requirements were met.
Thank you Cyril, I hope we can stay again. Zoe and Bruno
About the Host, Cyril
Having graduated from University College Cork with a Commerce degree I worked in our family hotel outside Cork city for over 20 yrs. I now run a small bed and breakfast close to the city center of Cork. With a strong mixture of Gaelic and Norman blood running through my veins I am very interested in Irish and European history. Having studied Gaelic, Latin, French,Italian and Spanish I would like to have the time to master some of them.I tend more towards classical music with a strong bias to Italian Opera.
