Interaction with Guests
Upon your arrival, you will be greeted or let in by me. Handed an apartment key with a fob (wireless key for the main door), that will give you access in the front of the building. I can help with any extra bags you have, assuming I'm here. I'll give you a tour of the apartment and let you get cozy. I will be staying in the apartment during your stay, I'll be in the master bedroom. However, most people hardly notice me, I tend to be a pretty busy guy! However, if you catch me on the right day, I love interacting with my guests. I've had an amazing time with almost all of my guests. I've had guests bring me gifts and have a few drinks with me, make me dinner, and even party when Portland had a "Snowpocolypse !" Mainly my guest interaction is as social as we make it. I like to think I've made a few friends from this site and I really want to keep that going.
Pip’s Original Doughnuts
The Rose Quarter
Velocult (a bike shop and bar recently named #9 in the country)
There are so many more things this city has to offer and I'm more than happy to point you in the right direction!
You couldn't ask for a more convenient stay, the apartment is located directly across the street from the Hollywood/ NE 42nd MAX (local transit). With the MAX so close it makes it easy to be either at the airport in 20 minutes or in the west part of the city in 15 minutes!
1. There is NO smoking (cigarettes or other substances) allowed in or around the apartment. For all smoking needs you will need to go outside (not on the patio) for all your smoking breaks. Please don't tamper with the smoke detector in order to do this.
2. Food and drink are encouraged to be purchased and stored in the appropriate places in the kitchen.
3. Please no parties or surprise overnight guests (let me know if you're going to have somebody over and, for the most part, it should be fine).
3. Pets are not allowed, unfortunately.
4. There are a few instruments present and I would like that they are kept untouched. If you play an instrument, I'd love to hear you play, but please ask if you can use either of the guitars before playing them.
5. Please use coasters with your hot drinks, they are present on the table for you to grab, they melt our iKea furniture otherwise.
6. There are a lot of books in the bookshelf that are enjoyable to read, please feel free to read them, please try to not spill food/drinks on them.
7. Shampoos and body washes will not be provided, please remember to get them, towels will be provided for your convenience.
8. You're here to either enjoy yourself or have a great business trip and I want that to happen, please don't let something go without being said. My goal is to treat you like a 5 star guest would be treated!
Without further ado, welcome to my fair city! I look forward to providing you with the best possible stay!
Sam was very welcoming and a good host, he gave suggestions for what to see and where to go, as this was my first time in Portland.
While not exactly "central", Sam's apartment is VERY well located. It is less than a block from the MAX line (making transportation to/from downtown and the airport incredibly easy), a Trader Joe's, a 24-hour fitness, and only a couple blocks from a Whole Foods, many little bars and coffee shops, gas stations, etc. His apartment was tidy and simple. Since he invited two felines into his life, guest access is to the second bedroom, with a full bathroom across the hall. The bedroom is spacious and comfortable, with lots of natural light. The building seems quite secure and safe, and some visitor parking is available. Sam was out of town while my boyfriend and I were in Portland, so communication wasn't as easy, but it also wasn't necessary. We had the things we needed and were grateful to have Sam's apartment as a home base. Plus, the kittens are adorable!
This place is great, very close to everything. Sam and Lindy were wonderful with us, we dont have any complain. We live there for 1 month and the room was very comfortable, I recommended 100%. The kitchen have everything we needed and more. They are great host we really enjoy staying there!
Sam and Lindy made us feel so comfortable! We were visiting on business and had a pretty crazy schedule leaving early and coming home late, but they didn't seem to mind. Everything was exactly as described. They even provided storage in the kitchen should we want to purchase groceries at the local Trader Joes next to the apartment. The location was perfect. It was a short walk to the MAX line. It made for convenient transportation both to downtown Portland and PDX. Sam and Lindy were even able to recommend a local store that carried a hard-to-find Oregon beer that we wanted to take home with us! Our only regret is that we didn't have more free time to hear about their travels. :) We would definitely stay with them again and recommend them to anyone traveling to the area.
Sam and Lindy are the best hosts you can imagine. I stayed there for one month and they made me feel really at home. The room is big, with a large window and your own private bathroom so you have a lot of intimacy but they are also available to do things with you like going out or occasional dinners if they have time. They have a lot of very good suggestions for places to eat, visit, parks, nice bars and libraries, everything ! Hollywood is an exciting and lively area with a lot of things to offer : cute coffe shops, a movie theater, a trader joe's right across the street and you can be in downtown in about 20 minutes, this is ideal !
Moreover, Sam and Lindy are both interesting and passionate people who keep busy and are easy to talk to, lot of good and inspiring energy in this apartment, I strongly recommend it :)
Sam and Lindy were great hosts - super friendly and hospitable. Their guest room is amazingly spacious and it was great to have a private bathroom. We'd definitely recommend this place to our friends.
Although I didn't actually stayed at Sam's, my husband did. He was very accommodating to us. My husband was down there for his paramedical internship, and he was really helpful with our situation. Per my husband, he didn't have any problems and enjoyed his stay there. Everything was asking distance. Thank you Sam for offering a great place.
