The Space

PLEASE NOTE: I'm only accepting reservations from people with at least a few Airbnb reviews.

That being said, if you have some reviews, thank you for considering my place. I'm renting out my entire 2 bedroom, one bathroom house in Sacramento to responsible travelers. This is an older craftsman home that is close to downtown, walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, stores, and Safeway. I'm also a block from McKinley Park, with its rose garden, tennis courts, and duck pond. This is one of the best locations in town if you like accessibility to all Sacramento has to offer but also like some quiet and tranquility. The main bedroom has a Cal King size bed, while the second has a Queen bed. A large couch can accommodate a fifth person if needed.

I have two friendly indoor/outdoor cats, as well as two back yard hens (outdoor only). The cats will likely need to be fed while you are here (which is why the low pricing), but the hens will be self-sufficient in their coop for up to four days at a time. Unless you care to let the hens out in which case I'll leave you hen-keeping instructions. Both the cats and hens are quiet and well behaved. The bus line stops across the street and goes downtown, but you can also foot it if you don't mind walking. Feel free to use the kitchen. Washer/dryer available upon request. Weekends are generally more convenient for me to rent so its reflected in the lower rental price during most weekends.. Longer rentals are also appreciated which is why weekly and monthly rentals are highly discounted.

Again, please do not request a rental if you do not have at least a few Airbnb reviews. I'm sorry to sound so adamant, but I've spent much time the past few months responding to requests from people with no reviews . The only way I can feel secure leaving my home to strangers is if you've been reviewed by other Airbnb users. A phone conversation or your employer website unfortunately will not do the trick. I hope you understand and thank you for your consideration. Joe

  • Joe's place provided a wonderful location for us as we attended a conference at Cal State Sacramento. Joe provided excellent instructions and information which made our stay very easy. The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and we have never met more affectionate cats! The area was perfect for finding good food options and easy shopping. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Joe was a wonderful host - good communication, easy arrangements!

A couple colleagues and I stayed at his house while at a conference at the convention center, and it worked out great. It's about a half hour walk, which I enjoyed, but others took the bus and said it ran pretty frequently and was easy to use. It was really nice to have a quiet place of our own, away from the sort of generic convention hotels.

The house was clean and well-equipped, and we enjoyed hanging out in the yard with the cats and chickens! Fresh eggs were a treat, too. I would definitely like to stay here again if I'm ever back in Sacramento.

  • Joe was a very considerate and respectful host. His home was clean, warm, and welcoming with a yeard that's a little slice of relaxing Heaven. I hope that his place is available the next time I go to Sacramento. Thanks for everything, Joe!!!

  • Wonderful stay in Sacramento at Joe's place. The house is only a 5-minute walk from McKinley park, with its lovely rose garden, pond and ducks, tennis courts. The house is only 1 or 2 blocks from Safeway near J Street and Alhambra. You can walk to Mel's Diner just past Safeway, or Roxie's Deli, and Orphan for breakfast (on the other side of McKinley Park). We even walked past the Blue Lamp and almost all the way to the Natural Foods Market on Alhambra. It's not that far. The apartment is very clean and decorated very tastefully, with a very understated sense of kitsch. There are 3 indoor / outdoor cats at the house. I'm not allergic to cats, but a friend stayed for 1 night who is allergic, and he was OK ... because he said the house is so clean. Even though you can smell cats, there was barely any cat hair to be found at the house, and he was fine. Really, the house is very clean and nice! I loved it when the kitties would come inside; one of them in particular loves to be petted! And the chickens in the backyard were adorable. We were there in February, and the backyard was green and lush, just beautiful! I loved letting the chickens out and watching them go pecking around in the yard. Parking is in the driveway, and I believe it can fit 2 compact cars (tandem). There were a couple of other "houses for sale" on the block, and I went to the open houses ... none of them were as nice as Joe's house. I love the way the layout flows from living room to dining to kitchen and den in the back. Then there are two very private bedrooms off the hallway with a very nice bathroom, which has both a walk-in shower as well as a tub. The main bedroom is very spacious, and the bed is very comfortable, firm mattress with good support. Joe left hanging space with hangers in the closet and some empty dresser drawers for my clothes. What I like best about the house is that the den in the back has French doors with clear glass, so you can see the lush green backyard and watch the chickens and kitties roaming around. By the way, the wireless internet worked great. It was awesome to sit back in the den and work on my laptop, enjoying the beauty of the outdoors while sitting indoors. I love the house ... such a convenient location and so delightful! Hope I can go back someday.

  • We had a great time staying at Joe's house in Sacramento. Since I am from Sacramento we mostly visited family and did not spend a lot of time at the house. It was very accommodating and the pets were well behaved. Trying to coral the hens back into the coop wasn't always easy, but was fun. Will definitely ask Joe if we can stay again next time.

  • We really enjoyed staying at Joe's lovely home. The house is in a great, walkable neighborhood. and Joe is very responsive and accommodating. He not only let my brother check in before I arrived, but met up wih him on a holiday. Joe's cats are friendly and easy to care for--and the chickens are a plus! Thank you, Joe!

  • Joe is a perfect host. His place was great and his three cats are adorable!

  • Did not meet Joe in person but everything was arranged, in advanced, with perfect execution. This was one of the smoothest arrangements i've ever had. And the apartment is immaculate and has many worldly decorations that will spark conversation and thought. Also, the neighborhood is very safe and fun to explore considering a beautiful park is only about a block away. Would definitely stay here again.
