The Space

Located on the 3rd floor of a palace from the 1400's right on Piazza Duomo, this private apartment has high wooden beam ceilings, a small fresco on the wall, and reliefs in the hallway ceiling. The apartment is very well lit. The 2 meter high window has double glass panes for complete silence and wooden panel shutters inside and out for complete darkness if desired.

AREA: The apartment is located at the true heart of the historical center, on the corner of Via Martelli and Piazza Duomo (Leonardo Da Vinci lived two houses down!). You cannot get closer to the Duomo, it is literally at your doorstep. No vehicles are allowed in this historical area, so no need to worry about traffic noise (also that is why there's no "street view" tab). If you do have a car, there are parking garages nearby. The neighborhood and building are very safe, with 3 doors to get to the apartment.
Every main landmark in Florence (the David, Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza Signoria & Repubblica, Ponte Vecchio, train station Stazione SM Novella) are actually a 0-10 minute walk from here, not exaggerating! There is a taxi stop right around the Duomo, and bus stops are a couple of minutes away.

BED: The bed is a queen size ("matrimoniale") real mattress bed, sleeps 2 adults. Bed linen and towels are included. We can also set up the room with two single beds instead.

KITCHEN: There is a fully equipped kitchen and gas oven. We provide you with many spices, herbs & fancy olive oils to cook with, as well as a coffee maker, fresh ground Italian coffee and sugars/honey for your morning brew. You will also have biscotti, orange juice, and filtered water. The grocery store "Eataly" and the produce market are a 2 minute walk from the apartment.

AMENITIES: The apartment has A/C and heating, and an independent water heater. There's also a washing machine, detergent, a drying rack, and a clothes iron. There's a hair dryer, a curling iron and a flat iron, too!
You will have an unlimited WiFi (wireless) internet connection, as well as a landline phone you can use for emergency calls. You'll also find plenty of Florence travel guides, fun Italian phrase books, magazines and most importantly, a zombie survival guide.

What else could you ask for? Oh yes, the keys :)

For your convenience, we provide:
-Matrimonial/Queen size real mattress bed
-A/C & Heater
-WiFi (wireless internet), TV
-Washing machine, Detergent & Softener
-Clothing iron
-Blow dryer, Flat iron, Curling iron
-Body wash, Shampoo, Conditioner
-Fully equipped kitchen including:
*Lavazza Coffee, Organic Tuscan Honey, Sugars
*Premium Olive oils, Organic Spices, Herbs & Salts
-The BEST view of the Cathedral facade you'll find on Airbnb!

Other Things to Note

BOOKING FOR 3 PEOPLE: The apartment is perfect for 2 people, we do not recommend a third person but have it as an option due to several requests. If booked for 3 people, the set up will be a matrimonial/queen sofa bed and a 1-person single mattress bed. Please keep in mind a third person will obviously make the room tighter. You can convert the bed into a sofa for more space.

  • We had a wonderful time staying at this apartment! The apartment was perfect and just as shown in the pictures! Danella was a wonderful host and went above and beyond what we expected!! We can't wait to go back to Italy and we will be staying here again! Danella also left a list of recommended places to eat and they were fantastic! I would recommend anyone to stay here!

  • Apartment location couldn't be better. Small, simple, charming. Perfect pad for a Florence quick trip. Hosts were very kind and helpful!

  • We could not have been made to feel more welcome or comfortable. The apartment is as described and a great place from which to explore Florence. Overall pretty perfect.

  • This was a lovely apartment, full of character but had everything we needed, and yes, you really are that close to the Duomo. With the windows open, you can soak up the city atmosphere, but when they are closed, it is as quiet as the countryside, so light sleepers don't need to worry.

Florence is a wonderful city and all the sights and attractions are easily within walking distance of the apartment - as is the station. A 'gastro-supermarket' and wine shop were, temptingly, across the street. It was busy, so we recommend getting up at sunrise to have all the sights to yourself.

Thanks to Danella and Scott who were lovely hosts. They accommodated our early arrival, provided us with some great local knowledge and offered to make reservations for us in local restaurants. They kept in touch with us during our stay to see how we were getting on and the gift of wine and cake on arrival was most welcome.

This was our first time in Florence and the apartment was a big part of making it a special visit. We hope to come back.

  • Danella is one of the most perfect hosts I have seen! She had all the details nailed down. She was there to welcome us when we arrived (with cake and wine and biscotti!). She answered all my questions patiently, gave us several tips about the apartment, city, museums, shopping, everything. She even brought us umbrellas since it was expected to rain! I have a cleanliness and organization fetish, and I must say this apartment was very clean, neat, well equipped, and extremely organized. It’s comfortable for two, and I think it’s ideal for 1-2 persons. The shower is small, but has the basics. It’s overall an old apartment, and you will see it in everything, but it’s Florence, what’s better than a quaint, arty, traditional place! And, I reserve the best for the last – the Duomo is actually right opposite! It is exactly like the pictures indicate. The whole area is a tourist highlight, and we loved it. The noise didn’t bother us, although you can close the windows and it’s very quiet. We loved soaking in the gorgeous views of the Cathedral from our window!

  • I can not have asked for a better stay at this apartment right next to the Duomo. I was attracted to this apartment based on the pictures alone, but Danella really went above and beyond to make the stay simply amazing!

I had some issues with my credit card so had to get it shipped to the apartment and Danella was so helpful in helping getting everything sorted out. She was helpful before the check-in, and even after. She met up with us during check in to be a super helpful guide for both the apartment and the city itself, giving us recommendations for Florence (They were amazing, the crostini at Uscio & Bottega a few blocks away is great!!). She even left us an amazing coffee cake for breakfast and an amazing bottle of Chianti wine which made the stay even just that much more perfect. The only thing to keep in mind is that the bathroom is a bit old, so it takes a while to have the tank of the toilet fill up between flushes.

That aside, I can't say enough great things about our stay, the apartment, the location or the host!! I won't hesitate booking the Duomo apartment again if I had to stay in Florence. :)

  • Danella & Scotts studio was a great location. Close to so many of the amazing sights Florence has. We very much enjoyed our stay. Danella met us at the corner of the studio and just like that we had this amazing view of the Duomo. It was so cool. Danella took us up and was super friendly on going over eveything in the place. Prior to our visit she emailed recommendations for things to do, places to see and restaurants. All categorized. Very helpful. She had another set of listings when we arrived. Anytime we had questions she was an email away and responded instantly to our questions to help direct us. Danella was an amazing host. Cant say it enough. We hope to be back someday soon again. I definitely recommend staying here. Thank you Danella!

  • We had a fabulous stay! The apartment was amazing. Anything that you would need was provided in the apartment. The views were awesome. Literally open up your door to the duomo. It was wonderful to hear the bells and the accordion player outside the window, but also the apartment was very quite when you shut the windows. Danella was very helpful. She had a whole packet of information about the apartment, sights, and restaurants. She was very attentive and easily reached. I cannot wait until we can stay here again.

  • Danella and Scott were fabulous hosts. Communication was smooth and pleasant. We were greeted by Danella who was super helpful and full of joyous energy. They had welcomed us with a cake and a bottle of Tuscan wine which was such a thoughtful touch which made our stay in Florence even more enjoyable. Their apartment could not be located in a better place. I would love to go back and recommend anybody to stay here!
