overall, our stay was good. the location is in waikiki and you are close to good places to eat. layla tries her best to make sure your stay is smooth but sometimes things didnt go as planned. there were two hitches. one was parking. you have to contact the resident manager to get free parking was a big pain in the butt because he was hard to reach the first day and next morning. this may be out of control to layla, but i didnt expect it. the other thing was when we went to our lockbox the key wasnt in there and it was already 3pm. no one had really informed us why it wasnt in there. instead i had to call all contacts to get some information. anyway, for the price u pay compared to a hotel, it is very well worth it if you're trying to save money. thanks layla
Very comfortable and clean facility with good kitchen access. I had a great time at her place.
My husband and I had a great time at Layla's place in Waikiki. We've traveled the world together and stayed at a wide array of places--from 5-star hotels to hostels. We're at the stage of life where we value VALUE over luxury, and Layla's place met our needs.
-Price: For sure, the price is the largest attracting factor. Although the Waikiki hotels would have been nicer & newer, the price would have also been at least double. We therefore adjusted our expectations accordingly, and they were met.
-Location: Although not beachside, Layla's place is in a convenient location (~2 blocks from Kuhio Avenue, where many restaurants & mini-markets are located; ~5 minute walk to the beach; 1 block to the canal, where free parking is available if you can find a spot).
-Large Windows: Layla's place is filled with large windows, and the view from the bedroom is incredible! When not sleeping in the condo, we were on the back balcony enjoying the view.
-Hot Water: Hot water comes instantly, and water pressure in the shower is great. Both were fabulous after snorkeling in cold Hanauma Bay. :)
-Layla! Layla was fantastic. She was very responsive and thoughtful--her welcome letter came ~1 month before check-in, and she listed many recommendations for where to go, what to eat, etc. We used quite a bit of it and had a better vacation as a result.
-The Listing vs. Reality: Perhaps it was a "perfect storm" of sorts, but the key features which led us to choose Layla's place ended-up not materializing. Specifically, we booked Layla's place because it had free parking, a washer/dryer, and a kitchen (and a low price, of course). After we booked, Layla let us know that free parking wasn't guaranteed--she would need to put in a request for parking a month before our arrival. I was surprised, but okay with it. One month before arrival, I received the welcome letter and asked if she was successful securing parking. She then let me know that we wouldn't know if we'd get the parking until we arrived in-person. Unfortunately, she neglected to say (or didn't know) that the person who grants parking isn't on-duty on the weekends or holidays. Again, perhaps it was a "perfect storm," but we arrived on a Saturday and Monday was a holiday. In other words, I only learned when I arrived that I couldn't even "apply" for parking until the 4th day of our 7-day stay. Fortunately, we found free parking along the canal for the first 3 days, but it was a stressful and time-consuming "oops." Regarding the washer/dryer, we were surprised when we learned in the welcome letter that it and the garbage disposal were broken and not expected to be repaired in the month before our arrival.
-Air Conditioner: The air conditioner looked scary, so we opted to open windows instead of chancing it.
In all, our stay was nice, and we would return...just with adjusted expectations. :)
This place is in a very good location. Very easy to get anywhere you want to go in Waikiki . Layla provided us with lots of information on activities, restaurants and fun things to do. This place is an older apartment so you will not be staying at the ritz but it definitely works. Although we had a small issue upon our arrival Layla was very quick to deal with the issue and we were very appreciative.
Great location in the center of waikiki. Had everything I needed for 3 weeks. Clean and enough space.
Very nice location. Also most inhabitants of this apartment were friendly to us.
It was little bit hot and humid in the bed room at night, there is a ceiling fan but it did not work.
Layla is a very reliable and responsible owner, she helped us a lot even when the trouble happened. Hope to stay this apartment again.
After fiddling with the lock-box, we had a smooth check-in. Despite being low down (4th floor) in a Waikiki high-rise, there was no street noise and we slept cool in the comfortable bed with an open window and enjoyed breezes on her lanai, good because the AC unit didn't look like something I wanted to inhale from. Good water pressure in shower. There only one night, we needed neither the broken TV nor broken washing machine. We did not use stove or microwave because we ate at a favorite restaurant. Easy shuttle to/from airport and only 1 block to the canal or 3 to the beach. Layla's place is a good alternative to Waikiki hotels which entail added visitor tax. Our only concern is that the sole security is the knob lock in a weak wooden door. staying more than one night, I'd worry about a door break-in or someone somehow accessing the lanai whose sliding door we were unable to lock. The place needs a lock on that and a deadbolt on the door. The building was secure with key fob for elevator but some inhabitants seemed a bit sketch.
This house is very clean and convenient just few minutes to Waikiki beach by walk. I hope to stay again.Thank you Layla.
Nice location and very clean room!
I can cook any time! That's great!
