Interaction with Guests
I'm happy to answer any questions you have about Gainesville and getting around. I am a busy young professional but always happy to lend a hand. I also teach salsa so I will include a free lesson with every booking, just ask!
The historic Duckpond district is a great area of town. Very relaxed but still close to the bars and clubs. It has a lot of history, the place for college presidents and professors to live. It also has a great park right next to my house. It is a very safe area with no crime.
The house is 5 minute drive from the University of Florida campus (corner of 13th street and University Avenue) and a 5 minute walk from downtown nightlife.
Getting around by car is best, but you can walk to downtown easily and there is a bus route directly to campus that is pretty easy to catch.
Publix is a 5 minute walk as well for getting groceries and Walgreens is a 2 minute walk. Located on the east side of Gainesville, 10-minute drive from Gainesville Airport. Uber is now in Gainesville as well and I'm always happy to pick up/drop off if my schedule is free.
Other Things to Note
Flexible on check in/out times as long as no other guests are moving in. Just let me know.
I have a 2 year old dog named Loki, named after the Norse god of mischief, hehe. He's very sweet and loving and never goes into the guest room. There's no pet smell in the house, thankfully he doesn't smell like a dog!
Please no smoking or pets.
My husband and I had a great stay at Rob's house. We arrived a bit later than we'd planned, but he was welcoming and very laid back. He did some research for us to figure out what was going on around town last night, and he gave good restaurant recommendations today--we really liked Daily Green for lunch. The house is adorable and very clean, stocked with toiletries for guests as well as coffee and tea. We enjoyed running in Rob's pretty, historic neighborhood this morning. Rob has a really sweet dog but says he keeps him away from guests who'd prefer not to be around him. We highly recommend staying with Rob and hope to stay there again sometime.
Rob's hospitality was great! From the moment we knocked on the door, until the day we left. We weren't too familiar with the Gainesville area and he gave us some great recommendations including a brewery, which we hadn't heard about before, and helped us set up our first Uber experience! The house was homey and clean, and we fell in love with his dog! Highly recommended if you are in the Gainesville area for a quick stay.
My experience was great! The house was very clean and in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. Rob is very nice and easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend.
This was my second stay with Rob. I had my daughter with me this time. It was lovely as usual and he went so far above and beyond that we felt like family. Recommended without reservation.
Rob is an excellent host. Clear communications, everything was just as described. He is very warm and welcoming. Neighborhood is very quiet, convenient and lovely.
My wife and I had a great stay at Rob's house. The Duck Pond neighborhood is fantastic, charming, and located within walking distance to downtown Gainesville (restaurants, bars, etc.). Rob made us feel welcome and at home. We would definitely stay at his place again!
Rob made me feel extremely comfortable and my stay at his place was great. His house is located in the Duckpond neighborhood in Gainesville, a historic neighborhood of beautiful houses and foliage, close to downtown and pretty much anywhere in Gainesville including campus. Great house and Great host.
I run a tech startup in Gainesville, (website hidden) and also dance salsa when I'm not working on the business. I've lived in Gainesville for 8 years and love giving recommendations on pretty much anything you are looking for in town!
