The Neighborhood

An Cheathrú Rúa (Carraroe) is a seaside village on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It is serviced by all amenities and easily accesible to Galway City, Spiddal, Roundstone & Clifden. The house is close to many deserted beaches, including Trá an Dóilín (Coral Beach), reckoned to be Ireland’s only coral beach, the strand at Carraroe is one of the most picturesque beaches in the country, as per the Irish Times 2012.

Connemara is often heard referred to as ‘authentic Ireland’ and is famed for the rugged coastline and landscape, crystal clear blue waters and the sheer wildness of the area. You can meet the Connemara ponies, wander along the almost deserted beaches, or, alternatively, cycle along the miles of scenic roads without seeing another soul along the way. The wonderful area of Connemara has all of this to offer its visitors. Nearby, there is a choice of wonderful beaches to choose from, including the Blue Flag beach of Coral Strand, a great diving base for those of all abilities. For those members of your group who enjoy golfing, the Connemara Isle Golf Club is just 20 minutes away and there are others to choose from, just slightly further afield, in Oughterard and Bearna. The lovely craft village of Spiddal can be reached via a coastal drive. Here, you can pick up a homemade souvenir to remind you of your trip. Further afield is the popular city of Galway which is also well worth a visit. Galway is also home to the annual Oyster Festival and boasts several seafood eateries, lively pubs for enjoying traditional Irish music and quirky cafes. A wonderful property in County Galway and an ideal base for exploring this popular Irish region.
