The space

I offer a private serene room in a beautiful house in Silicon Valley. The room comes with a bathroom with tub and shower. It gets lots of sun in the afternoon, and you are provided with bath salts and oils if you want to soak in the sun or out of it. There is lots of free street parking. If you would like off-street parking in the house parking lot, that would be $2 per day.

There is a family room and a fire place to hang out, as well as a relaxing patio and two decks for enjoyable outside seating. I am an easy going, open-minded, well-traveled person, who enjoys good company and conversations.

The house is in a quiet neighborhood in Emerald Hills. Restaurant and shops are within 2-10 minutes driving distance. I offer free wireless internet, a library with TV, and coffee or tea if needed. Please don't expect absolute perfection though, because the price reflects what expectations should be. The hotel room prices in this area are $165 per night for a single room for three-star accommodations.

I love eating out and have lots of good recommendations for ethnic restaurants on the peninsula as well as in San Francisco.

There is easy access to 280 and 101 and you are within minutes in Palo Alto/Stanford. San Francisco is a 35 - 40 minute ride by car depending on traffic. SFO is 25 minutes away and there is Caltrain access

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the kitchen, deck, patio, garden, and laundry room. There is a $5 charge to use the laundry room, but everything is provided.

It's a great location, despite being a little off the beaten path. It's 20 minutes from the airport, 20 from mountain view. Uber can get pricey (or scarce), but it's awesome when there. Go to relax or go for convenience. The hosts were cool and attentive. I prefer asking for what I need, so I like their style. Very non invasive, non absent, a fine balance. I would do it again.

I really enjoyed staying here. The house is beautiful, and I slept well in the comfortable bed. Maylen is a great host - welcoming, attentive, and respectful. The room has plenty of space in it and has a desk and chair for getting work done. The shower head is high enough for me (I'm 6'1"). The neighborhood is great. I found a coffee shop I really like called Emerald Hills Cafe, that's only a five minute walk away. Next to it are a taqueria which is also top notch, and a grocery store. The Caltrain station is a lovely 35 minute walk or 10 minute uber away. There are some nice restaurants and shops near the Caltrain station, as well as a Whole Foods. I can definitely recommend this place.

Very nice and accommodating hosts. Huge private room with high ceiling and easy access to restroom at any time. Also very quiet and all the privacy you can possibly want. I recommend this room, and I would definitely stay here again.

If you don't value privacy, enjoy being nickled and dimed for everything, and love feeling uncomfortable in the place you paid good money to stay in, Maylen's spot is the commune for you. Her photos of the rooms on her page are EXTREMELY vague and misleading. She advertised my room/bathroom as being "private," yet when I would get home everyday I would find that she had gone into my restroom and unlocked the second door leading out to the hallway. That's not very private to me. Her or her boyfriend (who wasn't apart of her airbnb page until halfway through my stay) would make so much noise at random hours of the night/early morning. As for amenities; none were provided. The heater was never on so I had to buy a space heater. The fridge and freezer were COMPLETELY full and she made no accommodations for me so I had to buy myself a mini fridge. There are no paper towels in the kitchen, so the one time I used the kitchen for the microwave to heat up some soup while ill (had the flu), and spilled some, I used the only dirty rag she had in their to clean it up. Went to the deck, shook off little bits of carrots, didn't go to the edge of the deck because it was 40 degrees and pooring rain, then took the rag to the laundry room, which of course was locked for a reason I will never understand, and left it there to be washed. Later received a CRAZY and AGGRESSIVE message from her saying I was careless and violated of her space. (She basically runs a commune, has three dudes living in the basement, she should feel violated all the time. Not when a young girl who has the flu accidentally spills soup in her cluttered, unclean, kitchen). She then tried extorting me for $50 for cleaning charges. I wasn't going to write a review and just let all of this go, but people need to be aware of what their getting themselves into before dropping cash on this place.

I stayed at this place to study for a test. I stayed three quiet days. It was perfect as what I needed.

Maylen made it effortless. She texted me the door code early in the process. Was there to greet me and show me to my room, the bathroom and the kitchen. A quick review of the house rules and then let me settle in. During my stay she was 100% accessible either in person or in leaving responses to my notes.
