Interaction with Guests
We will offer conversation, tips on local spots and leave the guests to enjoy the peace and quiet here. Or be more engaged depending on the preferences of our guests.
This a very private, quiet area. Acres of forest land to walk and explore. Its a good idea to stock up on your favorite beverage and any food you plan on cooking before coming in. Otherwise its about a 15 min. drive to McCaysville and 20 minutes to Blue Ridge. Please note cell service may be sketchy.
Private transportation is needed. Although the road up is gravel, 4 wheel drive is not needed. Due to the switchbacks on the way up and limited parking at the top, oversized vehicles will present a challenge. Please let us know if you are arriving in anything larger than 20 ft so we can discuss. Thanks
Other Things to Note
Children over the age of 12 are welcome. Our black lab, Ebony is not accustomed to small children.
Guests need to respect our home, our land and our privacy. They must keep the common areas neat, and clean up after themselves. Smoking is only permitted out by the firepit, 100 ft from the house. Social adult alcoholic drinking is fine. Please be kind and considerate of others.
Where to start! Our experience staying with Corky was amazing. We needed a quick getaway from the noise of our day to day life. And my stay granted me my wish. Their home is so warm and cozy. It felt like I had received a big hug once I left. Exactly what I needed. Corky is a very interesting and intriguing man, which makes for wonderful conversation.
Corky was at the front door to welcome us and gave us great directions, peace, comfort, privacy and more in his awesome cabin. He even cooked up some dinner for us. It is a peaceful place with an awesome guy.
Corky and Deborah's cabin has a million dollar view! It's so clean, perfectly located, and Corky has to be one of the nicest hosts we've ever had. If you're looking for an inexpensive mountain getaway, this is the place. My wife and I stayed here and felt as though we were at our home away from home.
We had an excellent trip, everything exceeded our expectations. This place is not just a "Mountain View", it is the "Top of the Mountain". Our hosts, Charles(Corky) and Ebony could not have been better. Communications and directions were excellent. We look forward to returning in the Spring/Summer.
This cabin is a perfect place for anyone looking to spend some quiet time in the woods. The view from the cabin was just breathtaking and Corky and ebony were simply great!. They made me feel comfortable and at home. I felt truly rejuvenated! Highly recommended!!
A great time in northern Georgia. Plenty of hiking and waterfalls to see. A great view right outside on the back porch. Ebony and Corky were great hosts. Very comfortable and relaxing home.
We had a wonderful experience staying with corky and ebony for two nights. From the moment we arrived corky was a model host, doing everything in his power to make us as comfortable as possible. We had full access to the kitchen and plenty of fridge space to store all of our supplies. The room itself was gorgeous but paled in comparison to the breathtaking view of the valley from the deck area. On any given night you can find corky out there staring into space eating popcorn and listening to classical music. Our host was always happy to have a conversation but also respected our boundaries as house guests. We thoroughly recommend staying with Charles and Deborah if your plans bring you to the blue ridge area. You will not be disappointed.
Both of us are animal lovers. We recycle and respect Mother Nature. We enjoy Happy Hour at Sunset and love to cook. Charles is an ARMY veteran and retired builder from metro Atlanta. He was raised in a small town in Conneticut, graduated from Syracuse University. He loves their basketball team and wishes they had a better football team. But for now, he roots for the GA Bulldogs and keeps track of the TN Vols. Deborah is a native ATLANTAN with wanderlust who loves to travel. Her favorite destinations are in Mexico and the Caribbean. She is a diver and motorcycle enthusiast. And Football is a passion. GO DAWGS!!! Her work is in construction management which requires travel to current projects.
