Very big and comfy apartment, just 5 minutes walking to the nearest beach. Lot of space to park the car along the street just outside the building. Joao was very careful, before our arrival and during our stay: he gave us all the info we needed either for the apartment e to enjoy the town and Algarve un general. We were really satisfied and would totally recommend to stay here

We had a great stay in Quarteira, the location and the apartement is perfect to visit the Algarve, near the beach.

We highly recommend this apartment if you are holidaying in Quateira. It is new , clean and modern and has all the facilities you need to have a home from home. The long balcony was lovely to have breakfast on, the kitchen had all mod cons and the living and sleeping areas were large, clean and nicely designed. It is located a few minutes walk up from the beach, in a quiet location, but really close to a supermarket - really useful to pick up that evenings wine :¬) Joao was an excellent host - we had trouble booking a taxi one morning and I phoned him very early for help (when he was still sleeping) - he couldn't have been more helpful and concerned that we got where we needed to be - thanks Joao! He also welcomed us with a bottle of wine and port, which was an absolute surprise but very welcomed! Thanks again Joao!

DON'T GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ! This was by far my worst experience. The flat was very nice, well equipped and located. The main issue was with the tenants of the place (Joao's parents). As we arrived we noticed with our sister that they were systematically spying on us as we were entering and going out from the flat (even late at night!), either by their balcony or directly through the front door and then hiding whenever we noticed. We first wondered why they were doing this and were a scared that it was to enter the flat as we were leaving. The second day I have been told that the air conditioning was making too much noise (we have been putting it on about half an hour everyday when coming back home around 1am as it was way too hot in the flat). Then he asked me whether we were sleeping on the living room or the bedroom and were i have been out, at what time i was coming back home etc. They were treating us like if we had done anything wrong and we were not understanding why they were like that with us. My guess was that they saw we are and girls, because i bet they would not have spoken like that to older people. I never had a problem before when travelling with my sister , we did not even put any music in the flat and were barely there as we were going to the beach during the day and to the restaurant in the evening. I was putting one wash on everyday, on a short program (either 30mins or 1h) to wash the towel and our swimming suits. This annoyed them a lot and they closed the door giving access to the washing machine. When i knocked I got screamed at and the men raised is hand like if he was about to hit me. He said i was not allowed to put the air conditioning after 11pm at night and the women took the dirty towels from my hands saying that I was not allowed to was them everyday. They also said that we had not taken any trash out since we arrived (which is true, but we were not even eating at the flat). They also said that the flat was smelling because i was not opening the windows. I wonder how they would know that without entering the flat while we were away... I told them i had paid more than 400euros for a few nights for a flat that has air conditioning AND a washing machine, so i could do whatever i wanted. My sister and I are very clean people, we never leave a flat with mess, and we respect the place. As they were both yelling at me from very close i started running upstairs and the man followed me, wanting to enter the flat. I had to push him back to close the door....

fellow HOSTS: BEWARE potential SCHEMER. Airbnb Staff: They found a way to have a stay for free and walk away. - My problem: I was away and didn't follow their stay with all my resources until late. - Their problem: probably wanted to stay elsewhere from the beginning, and found a way to escalate a conflict. Succeeded and got a full refund. - Their facts: no way to prove or disprove now, so it's their word against mine (hope not against yours too, fellow future host) - My facts: Once I arrived, I had a talk with my parents who stayed here and dealt with them 2. Huge disproportion on the recalls of any of the interactions. Maybe the language was a barrier, BUT I doubt French is their only language as they did understand my written messages in Portuguese (otherwise would not have arrived at our unnamed street) and produced a readable comment in English (above). The flat was still locked same way as they left it, and I entered to find the dirtiest flat ever used by only 2 guests. Then, with the help of a continuous recording camera we have at building lobby, I did see enough to have an opinion. There were repeatedly more people with them than only the 2 agreed upon booking, and then there was the moment of departure when (same?) friends came banging on building door, and both girls were happy (not scared at all) and still had time to be verbally offensive to my parents during that departing moment (already with the refund granted by Airbnb). - My story and interaction: while away, out of the blue, I received a call from Airbnb support. There's an emergency: guests are locked inside with fear, AND want to leave. (Never before did they phoned SMS emailed or even msg'ed via Airbnb). Not even later, neither picked the phone again. Yet, they were able to call and be called back and forth during the mediation of that "emergency". It did felt requiring a fast and assertive answer, so I did give all the benefit of the doubt to them and allowed the refund (it shows that I did cancel it - therefore my surprise also with the Airbnb staff way of doing it). Still, now, I guess any host when put in a situation of emergency will sacrifice _everything_ before the guests get a safe FEELING. Therefore I assured to Airbnb operator they could leave without fear, and even worried about, with her, where they would stay that night (these is before days, when then I saw the happy friends reunion at my building's door). - Conclusion: On their side: They did have much of their stay for free, they did leave happily with FRIENDS that arrived on site in minutes, and their Airbnb profile is still IMMACULATE waiting for the next absent or naive host. On my side, I will have to double check more my guests before accepting (SAD), and will trust less on the MEDIATION of Airbnb (double SAD) , BUT it will NOT ever change my will to host NORMAL persons ... which in large majority LOVE to stay with us.

The apartment is simple and clean. It's close to the beach and there are a lot of shopping and food options around. We really appreciated the parasol and beach towels which we could use during our stay! It's also great there's free parking in case you rent a car.

A great stay!! 4 nights, 5 days, even though I arrived quite late, Joao was there to welcome me and spent time showing me around, even though I was clearly very tired. The apartment faced north, but the sun was on the balcony from around 4pm - 7pm each day. Location perfect for peace and quiet. Supermarket 5 mins away, bus terminal about 10 minutes walk. Beach about the same. Perfect stay for some R&R. Joao let me stay past checkout time, as my ride to the airport was not arriving til 1pm. All in all an excellent time, recommended and will return.

Nice appartement with a huge terrace. A short walk from the beach. I highly appreciated the welcoming reception by Joao and his mother. Joao really helped us out by providing a baby cot and being flexible about the times of arrival and departure.
