My comfortable garage apartment has a real Austin vibe. Vintage and unique items I've collected in Texas and through international travels decorate the space. Situated on the trendy East side its close to downtown, bars, food trailers & the lake.
This is an unbelievable location for SXSW! A 25 minute walk or 5 minute Über or Lyft ride to the convention center. You can't do better than that. I've hosted SX visitors for years and always ensure guests have an amazing stay.
Lovely renovated garage apartment 10 blocks from downtown in hip East Austin. Walk 5 minutes to some of the newest east side bars! Free parking on street and behind gated driveway. Several bus lines run right out front - literally across the street. Walking distance to Town Lake - great running trail and kayak/canoe rentals.
The place is around the corner from a famous Austin texmex spot, food trailers, and other new foodie restaurants. There are corner stores within 1 block and a grocery store just a short drive away.
The apartment sleeps two people comfortably in a queen bed - I can offer a full sized air mattress if you want to load in. There is wireless internet, a full bathroom and full kitchen with oven/stove/fridge/french press.
There's also a porch with a table to relax under Texas skies - a great outdoor space for perfect Austin evenings!
Hip and diverse Holly neighborhood with very friendly neighbors.
The bus stop is a short step away from the end of the driveway. Calling for Über and Lyft is also a breeze around here.
Please don't smoke inside (there's an ashtray on the porch).
Coming and Going: Make sure you lock the apartment door.
DOOR: Please keep the door of the apartment shut (especially on warm evenings) so the bugs don't get in. Trust me, you don't want them to get in!
PARKING: You can park in the back driveway at the foot of the stairs to the apartment.
If parking on the street, you may park in front of the house, or anywhere on the opposite side of the street. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF THE NEIGHBORS’ HOUSES.
Security: Feel free to close and latch the driveway gate. If it's closed when you arrive, please be sure to keep it closed for the front house residents once you park. If you want to open any windows, please feel free to do so while you're at home.
Respect for the Neighbors: Please keep the noise level down after 10pm and before 7AM and be respectful of any requests from the neighbors.
Maximum 4 guests allowed per stay.
One night stay may require a $20 cleaning fee.
If you lose your key, there's a $5 charge to replace it.
I booked this place in preparation for seeing my wife again for the first time in a year. Everything was perfect and I was husband of the year in her eyes! Thank you Whitney!
Whitney's place is great. We stayed for a long weekend in January and had a fantastic time. It's very cozy and a short drive to downtown, plus walking distance to a some good bars and restaurants. We'd definitely stay here again.
Whitney's place is awesome and I had a great time there. Communicating was easy and effortless and the place is just as cute and cozy as the photos. Whitney has done a great job of blending Austin-chic decor with comfortable amenities to create a lovely home. The neighborhood is great, too! You can easily walk to some great taquerias and the river is just a quick stroll away. I recommend trying Juan in a Million for breakfast - they are one of my favorite Austin spots and just a couple blocks away. Overall - great experience. Thanks Whitney!
I stayed at the Pecan Treehouse for 3 nights, it had a lovely decor, comfy bed and was as advertised. The location was great as only a short drive to downtown. Whitney was a great host, always quick to respond to any of my questions and helpful with providing a few recommendations on the area.
We stayed at Whitney's place during the first week of SXSW, and had a brilliant time. Her apartment is small but perfectly formed, containing both everything we needed (reliable wifi, a coffee grinder for the perfect morning brew) and everything we didn't know we wanted but did (fantastic eclectic art and curated objects).
The neighborhood is pretty, peaceful and everyone we met was amazingly friendly and welcoming. The local restaurant - Juan in a Million, best name ever! - is the perfect place for breakfast tacos or lunch enchiladas, extremely good value and fantastic service and quality. If you want to work up an appetite for breakfast, there's a great running route down along the river. And getting into the centre is a price of cake: Downtown is a quick 10 minute bus ride or bike ride, or leisurely 30 minute walk. There was nothing we didn't like about The Pecan treehouse, Whitney is a great host, and we hope to return next year - highly recommended!
Sarah and I had a great stay at Whitney's treehouse. Lovely accommodations, comfortable bed, clean, fresh linens - we couldn't have been happier. Easy off street parking. All kinds of things to see and do nearby, great restaurants. And Whitney was fantastic. She met us at a convenient time to check-in, was super nice, and gave us great recommendations for local eats. Definitely recommend this spot to others visiting Austin. Thanks Whitney!
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Whitney's place, and had a great time. The place itself is well-decorated and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient - Veracruz Taco Trailer was our favorite breakfast spot while we were there, just a couple blocks away. A ton of cool food spots & bars within less than a mile. We didn't get to meet Whitney, but she was very accommodating, especially on pretty short notice of our arrival. I would highly recommend Whitney's place!

I'm a Texas-based photographer and storyteller always seeking out the next adventure.
I love places with great food, interesting stories, and unique finds. I frequent flea markets and vintage sales throughout Central Texas and try to do the same when I travel.
