About this listing
One of the oldest structures in town, this quaint cottage once belonged to James Bradley, the founder of Asbury Park. Full disclosure, we are still a work in progress (our loving restoration of this house will probably continue forever) but every is room comfortable and fully functional with many 21st century amenities.
You will have exclusive use of the garden bedroom which sleeps two, and has a separate entrance through the shady back garden. This bedroom has its own full bath (with tub and shower.) There is a cable TV and internet access in this room as well.
Garden bedroom guests have full run of the downstairs--so feel free to share our kitchen, hang out in the living room, lounge in the sun room, rock on our front porch or use the gas grill in our back yard.
We are pet friendly (we have 2 dogs of our own) so well socialized dogs are welcome.
We are within walking distance of all Asbury Park attractions, 3 blocks from the shops and restaurants of Cookman Avenue, 5 blocks from the ocean, and 4 short blocks from the NJ transit train and bus stations.
John and Maria's house is so sweet and so are they! In a great location, close to the train, beach and the shops and restaurants on Cookman Ave. The room is cozy and the backyard area is very nice for eating outside. My daughter and I had a great time, thanks!
A very pleasant experience. The house had an interesting victorian ambiance. The room was situated to ensure privacy with a separate bath and outdoor entrance to the shady back yard.
The room was small but clean and cute with a private bathroom. The private entrance was also very convenient. John and Austin (the pup) were friendly and helpful. The room is a little tight for two. One is quite comfortable.
John and Maria were great hosts. The room was as described. We were able to move up our check in to get to the beach earlier, which was very convenient and accommodating. The coffee and snacks that they provided were a nice addition. The location was also close to everything - train station, beach, restaurants, and nightlife. Overall a great experience and good value!
John's house is located in a very walk-able location to main Beach, boardwalk and Cookman Ave. The cottage had a very private rear sitting area. Easy to park your car. A nice warm and inviting feeling throughout the home.
John was very welcoming and gave us all the information and accommodation we needed to have a fun trip.
The town has a boardwalk with plenty of shopping, bars, and restaurants/food stands. There is a really cool dog bar/park called Wonder Bar if you bring your dog outside of the boardwalk near Second Avenue that is also a music venue inside.
The room is compact and needs a bit of work done, but the price is right.
My friend and I had a great stay at John's Asbury Park home. He was very kind and helpful and provided all we needed for a very comfortable stay. We were there for two days attending a festival in Seaside Heights and it was the perfect accommodations. Thank you for a wonderful time and for your hospitality!
