The flat occupies the second floor of a small stone-built 17th century house and is right in the picturesque medieval centre of Bracciano, on the lake Bracciano, 40 km from the centre of Rome.
The flat is self-contained and consists of an open space with a cooking place, a dining table for four persons, one single bed and one double bed (140 cm wide) with ceiling fan and a little bathroom.
There are two Windows, one of them overlooks a nice little place, the other one overlooks the lake.
There is also a washing machine, and Wi-Fi connection.
The house can only be reached on foot, but parking facilities are a few minutes away. Within a stone's throw from the house there is the "Belvedere della sentinella", a viewpoint with a wonderful vista over the whole lake. The famous Castle of Bracciano, which has daily conducted tours, is only a few minutes from the house. Bars, restaurants, pizzerias, shops and supermarkets are within easy reach. Ten minutes is the walking time required to reach the railway station.
A metropolitan train leaving every half hour reaches Rome in one hour time, with various stops inside the town. The ticket, covering city transport and valid for the whole day costs 8 euros.
The lake can be reached in a 15' walk but a shuttle service is available.
A volcanic lake, Bracciano is one of the cleanest lakes of Italy, with plenty of fishes. Motor boating is not permitted.
Two other characteristic villages, Anguillara and Trevignano, are also on the lake.
On the lake side there are plenty of bars, restaurants and beaches. Rowing boats, canoes and pedaloes are on rental. Sailing and windsurfing can be practised in the existing clubs.
There are quite a few maneges in the area.
The train reaches Viterbo, a beautyful medieval town in 45'.
Within a 20 km range there are many other natural, artistic and historical sites such as the etruscan necropolis of Cerveteri, the Stigliano spa, the protected area of Canale Monterano, the wood of Manziana, the sea...
We have had the most amazing long weekend in Irene’s cosy flat. The apartment, situated in historical town had a most astonishing view to Bracciano lake. The flat is like a doll house, Irene has impeccable taste. She made everything possible for us to feel welcomed, although we couldn’t meet in person. The arbnb slogan of “welcome home” is exactly what I felt in this apartment – it is this feeling when you enter somebody’s home to find out the like the music you do, they travel or are interested to places you go, the read books you love.
We were not in a tourist season, so it was very quite. We even managed to find free parking lot not far away from the apartment, which was recommended by Irene. The flat is well equipped with all one might need, there are a lot of coffee shops and restaurants close buy. Both the city and the lake are beautiful and close to other touristic destinations – Rome, Tivoli, Viterbo etc.
Ho trovato la casa davvero deliziosa: è perfetta per una coppia,la posizione é magnifica, la casa si trova in un punto tranquillo! Davvero perfetta per rilassarsi!
Staying in Irene's apartment was a wonderful experience. Forgetting how beautiful and welcoming Bracciano is, the house alone is enough to come visit! Irene has obviously put a lot of effort and love into her beautiful home, making it feel as if it was our own. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom is beautiful, even if the hot water didn't last for very long. Highest recommendations!
A fantastic little apartment with a breathtaking view of the lake. We were absolutely thrilled to stay at Irene's place and soak up the lazy, dreamy atmosphere of Bracciano. Everything was as advertised, all amenities worked without any problems. Irene's friend, Nicola welcomed us and gave us a quick tour of the apartment. For all that wish to stay close to Rome, but still experience something a little less hectic - Bracciano and Irene's house at the lake will be perfect. Will definitely visit again!
Irene è un host perfetta. La casa è semplicemente meravigliosa ed il tempo libero, dopo le dure giornate di lavoro, trascorso a Bracciano è stato rilassante.
let's keep it simple: the experience in Irene's house was great and the location was amazing. The apt is great for few days of pure relax and slow life. It in the middle of the old city and with a spectacular view, even better then the one in the pic. Irene was also a great host for the duration of my stay. she was very helpful and went the extra mile to help me with a family emergency. Very, very happy. highly recommended
Irene was so welcoming, and even collected us from Bracciano station when we arrived, exhausted, from our early flight. It may be worth noting that the train took close to 2 hours as we had to change trains Trastevere, and then got a slow, stopping train to Bracciano.
Irene went out of her way to let us know when there were train strikes on the day of our return flight, and helped us arrange a taxi in case we couldn't get a train. Overall a very helpful and friendly host who speaks brilliant English.
Her flat is clean and homely, so we enjoyed relaxing there in the evenings before dinner, and ate in the house one evening too - she had everything we needed for that. The shower often only had cold water and is a little tricky to wash in, as is inside a small bath, but it was fine for our 4-day trip.
The house is within the historical part of town, which is FAR more beautiful than by the lake. It is very hilly, and you have to climb lots of steps/slopes to get anywhere, but we loved that - we felt totally immersed in the area. (NB: the locals gather in the square outside the window, so you will hear a lot of chatter and laughter at night. There are also birds in/on the roof that scratch away so light sleepers should take earplugs).
Overall we adored the area and holiday. 4 days was plenty of time to explore the area, and even allowed for a day in Rome (50 minutes on a fast train to San Pietro station)
Hello Bonnie, thank you for your review, I'm happy that you liked your stay! As for the water, probably you switched out the boiler instead of the light, it's a 50 liter boiler so in normal conditions there is enough hot water. Also if you close the window you will hardly hear if there are people outside. Sorry I only wanted to say this for more information, as your nice review contains lots of informations for the next guests. Thanks for staying in my house, it was nice to meet you! Irene
