Our stay at the apartment was perfect! Michèle is a delightful, attentive and unobtrusive host. The apartment is just as beautiful as the pictures indicate. The bed is comfortable, the shower is a dream and the air conditioner makes the place a lovely retreat after a hot day wandering Arles. Michèle provided coffee, milk, eggs and bread to get us started which was wonderful.
The location is great as well. There's a great grocery store just a few steps down the street, everything in Arles you would want to visit is within easy walking distance. The history of the 300 year old building is fascinating as well and is summarized in a book in the apartment. Michele's recommendations for activities were great! Especially for the Parc Ornithologique in Carmargue (which we drove to). We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Michele's lovely flat in the centre of Arles. It was as beautiful and comfortably furnished as the photos show. Michele met us at the flat and showed us how it all worked. It was great having a little kitchenette to make our own breakfast and snacks and having some basic provisions to start us off was really helpful - such as washing up liquid, milk, tea, coffee, bread, butter, olive oil, salt, pepper. We relied on public transport and walked everywhere so being so central was wonderful. It was a great pleasure to stay in such a historic building and be completely self-contained.
We were visiting Arles for the feria and to see my cousin who is currently living there. The apartment was pristine, updated and very comfortable. The location could not have been better! It is on a Main Street with lots of shopping and two grocery stores! The shower had plenty of hot water and great water pressure, the kitchen had everything you would need to cook a meal, although we never did.
We were scheduled to arrive very late on a 11 o'clock train, so my cousin called and arranged to meet Michele to exchange the keys and see the apartment.
Michele was nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The only problem we ran into was that Michele called/texted my cousin way too much during our trip (because my cousin speaks fluent french). She stopped by unannounced with two children in the middle of our stay, and complained to my cousin in one phone call that we were not responsible because we had left a bathroom light on when we left for the evening and asked my cousin how many people had actually been staying at the apartment. During that same phone call she chastised my cousin (who I remind you, was not staying there), that she had not properly passed on a message that Michele wanted to meet us again... After she had already met us the first time, we were only there 4 nights!
Although the apartment was perfect and idyllic, we did experience a few stressful moments during our vacation due to what I believe was unprofessional behavior.
I was very conflicted about writing this review because overall our stay was wonderful, however our interactions with Michele added unnecessary stress to our vacation.
Adorabile! Tutto perfetto!
Michele's apartment is beautiful — exactly as it looks in the photos. It's comfortable, very clean, and centrally located. The apartment doesn't front the street, so it's nice and quiet. The AC works well and was very welcome since the previous place we stayed in Provence didn't have it. The kitchen is pretty minimal, but Michele provided all we really needed: coffee and milk. Plus there's a good bakery right around the corner, so you don't have to go far for your morning croissant. Be aware that the apartment is on a pedestrian-only street, so be prepared to roll your luggage down the block ( this was no problem for us.) Michele also gave us some awesome tips on where to find free parking that was within a 10-minute walk. If you rather park in Arles's one parking garage, that's about a 6-minute walk.
We had a great stay at Michele’s apartment. She was a fantastic host, and a delightful person! She responded immediately to all of our e-mails. She was genuinely concerned that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. She waited an hour for us at the train station after our connection was delayed, and also drove us back to the station early in the morning on our departure date. She generously stocked our kitchen with coffee, sweets, bread, jam, water, milk, condiments. All her appliances worked great and were easy to use; we were able to make all of our own meals. The pictures on Airbnb do not fully show just how beautiful the main room was. The ceilings must be 20 feet high. The walls were accented with gold trim and moldings, and there were antique double-shutter doors over the huge windows. Together it gave the room a romantic and regal atmosphere. We were glad we had 5 days in Arles because we spent more time in our room than we had planned. Her apartment was centrally located; we easily walked to every place we wanted to see. If we return to Arles we would not even consider staying anywhere else but at Michele’s apartment.
What a wonderful space! This flat was perfectly appointed, clean and serene. It is centrally located in Arles, which makes a great base for exploring adjoining villages. The kitchen is great for fixing your morning meal. The bath is spacious with a large open shower and ample space for your toiletries. While Michele was away, Severine was a wonderful hostess and made sure everything was perfect. We could have stayed here forever!
