The space
COVID UPDATE: we have made every effort to create a safe experience for our guests as well as us as hosts while still keeping our homestead open for some social distancing connection to nature. This includes 2 day waiting periods between guest bookings, new self check in process, full disinfecting of all surfaces, removal of items that are difficult to disinfect, and new rules about shared spaces on the property. You have access to an outdoor table, firepit and grassy area with lawn games and views of the goats, chickens, piggies and gardens. This area is yours exclusively during your visit. Please request/make appointment to visit the animals or any other part of property such as playground so we can ensure no contact. we are not doing our normal in-person homestead tours and classes but happy to meet with you by zoom to answer any questions you have about animals, gardens, or homesteading (more in depth zoom classes also available!). We as hosts are a social-distancing, mask-wearing family limiting our exposure in every way possible.

Have you ever wanted to try out a tiny house or homestead living? Or just looking for a jumping off point for amazing pacific northwest adventures? Come for a visit!

The Tiny House was designed to work for families, couples, singles or a group of friends who are happy being together in a cozy space (300 sq ft). That means 2 private bedrooms (1 loft with queen and single futons and stairs/safety rails; 1 downstairs bedroom with queen murphy bed and separated with sliding antique door). That also means a long farm table for gathering around (1 indoors and 1 outdoors!) and a long couch for game playing (that also folds out to single bed). We thoughtfully equipped and stocked the kitchen for you to make tasty food (fresh produce often available and gourmet farm to table recipes provided). There is a small fridge and stove, and a large farmhouse sink!

We also wanted this to be a space for creative work...writing, crafting, life/business design ... as well as a space for personal retreat. So the downstairs bedroom has a Murphy bed that when folded up creates an open yoga/meditation/movement space (yoga mat, meditation cushion/bowl/mala, and weights provided!)...while you look out through the french doors across the meadow. The bathroom is small but functional with tiny sink, shower (baby bathtub available and outdoor bathtub coming soon!) and a fancy no-fuss, no-stink composting toilet. Don't worry, it really is not gross or intimidating :)

The tiny house was made using green building materials from local sources when possible (recycled denim insulation, no toxic paints, cedar wall siding, etc.) so you can breathe in healthy air and vibes during your stay.

In alignment with our environmental values, our decor features mostly antique/used and handmade items. We also love to highlight local makers and vendors in the products we use in the tiny house.

All proceeds from your vacation booking goes to homestead projects that improve the sustainabilty of the homestead....improving soil, creating habitat for wildlife, increasing food self-sufficiency, and future dreams of solar panels, rainwater catchment and aquaponics. It also allows us to offer homesteading/cooking/crafting/life design workshops for knowledge sharing so folks can bring more sustainable living ideas into their lives in a way that works for them!

A homesteading mama, hostess of The Tiny House Farmstay, and sustainable gourmet life-design coach living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My husband (a mental health counselor) and I began the homesteading journey 6 years ago after moving from the urban life. Since then we have added 2 children, many goats/chickens/geese/pigs/bunnies, and a billion plant babies to the family. We have learned so much and love sharing the inspiration and experience of sustainable living if folks are interested!
