Come and stay in the lakelands in the heart of Ireland at Martin and Aideen’s Lough Owel Lodge Bed and Breakfast on their organic farm beside the lake Lough Owel. It is just five minutes’ drive from the market town of Mullingar, Co Westmeath . You can meet the animals on the farm in particular Sonny and Cher our resident donkeys as you walk through the idyllic farmland to the shore of the lake where you can watch the sailing boats.

Things to Do
Enjoy a game of tennis (rackets are available), table tennis in our games room or finish the day by taking one of the several gentle walks in the area. Information and maps can be provided. Drying facilities for guest’s walking gear are available.
Game or course fishing can be arranged in the area with gillies and boat hire available. Packed lunches can be arranged, just book beforehand. We have lots more places of interest near to Lough Owel Lodge.
Lough Owel Lodge is just 10 minutes from Belvedere House and Gardens. We are 30 minutes from Locks Distillery which is the oldest distillery in the world. The Tullamore Dew museum is also a short drive away. We are within an hour’s drive of many of Ireland’s historical sites such as Fore Abbey, Lough Crew Cairns, Trim castle, Newgrange, Clonmacnoise and Strokes Town Famine Museum.
The bustling city of Dublin can be reached by car in a little over one hour or it is possible to take a train from Mullingar which will take you directly into the city centre and which will allow you to enjoy the countryside along the way.

I love the countryside and the uninterrupted view to the lake.From here you can visit the many historical sites, newgrange, clonmacnoise famine musuem or Birr castle.
Walk the canal around Mullingar or
visit the two local whiskey distilleries , Kilbeggan and Tullamore dew.
Several trains to Dublin daily .it takes an hour.
Bus routes to Sligo, Dublin and the surrounding area.
local taxi service.We can arrange to collect guests from Mullingar.

We have an extensive library many local books on the area and information on Genealogy.
We are happy to assist our guests in their search for their family tree. An initial Genealogical search can be undertaken by our Genealogist if notified in advance.
Booking in time ;3pm to 6pm or by arrangement.

About the Host, Aideen
I am married to Martin and live in the family home on our organic farm outside Mullingar.
We have four grown up children .
I love to travel and enjoy meeting people from all areas of the world.
I love sport and enjoy tennis, swimming and a good country walk.
